I haven't mentioned Newcastle as Newcastle aren't playing Chris. That's how it works

You keep talking about just over 48 hours for West Ham and other teams yet you never mentioned Newcastle had exactly 48 hours between the Monday and Saturday game, plus the fact that Newcastle have the biggest travel distance over the period. Never see any positive coverage of the team.

West Brom manager Alan Pardew does not believe Jake Livermore will face action from the Football Association over a confrontation with a fan.

The midfielder, who started his career at Tottenham, was involved in an angry exchange after he was substituted in the second half of his side's 2-1 loss to West Ham at the London Stadium

The club said Livermore reacted to a comment about the death of his infant son, Jake Junior, in May 2014.

"He was hurt by the situation, as you'd imagine," Pardew said.

West Ham are investigating the incident and said they have identified the supporter involved. The man was spoken to by staff on Tuesday and removed from the stadium, the club said.

"We've left it in the hands of West Ham who I know very well and hopefully they'll deal with the situation," Pardew said.

New Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal is confident he will be given money to spend in the January transfer window - but says he might have to sign "sardines" rather than "lobsters".

Having won one and lost one of his two games so far, the Portuguese has spoken to chairman Huw Jenkins about transfer targets.

"We have money for sardines and I'm thinking lobster," said Carvalhal.

"I will do my best to try and bring in the best players. I will look to the lobsters and sea bass, but if not we must buy sardines. But sometimes the sardines can win games."

    InjuriesImage source, BBC Sport

Injuries as a whole went up by 32% in December 2017, compared to previous months of the season, according to figures from injury data analyst Ben Dinnery.

The biggest increase was in soft tissue injuries, damage to muscles, ligaments and tendons. These went up by 45%, from a monthly average of 43.5 to 65 last month.

"The spike is due in part to congestion around fixtures," sports therapist Dinnery told BBC Sport.

"Medical research tells us the more minutes you play, the more injuries are likely to occur. The optimum recovery for players is between 48 and 72 hours, otherwise players become more susceptible to muscular injuries and fatigue."

Pep Guardiola said the festive period was "killing" players - but is he right?

The Manchester City boss voiced his concerns over the congested fixture list, while West Brom wanted their match at West Ham on Tuesday postponed, complaining to the Premier League about playing two games in 48 hours.

A number of teams have endured that same turnaround over Christmas and New Year, while others have enjoyed more rest with festive fixtures falling on 14 separate matchdays.

So what do the injury statistics say?

    Welcome to Wembley.

This fixture has already produced two 3-2 wins already this season. Tottenham beat West Ham at the London Stadium in the league and West Ham beat Spurs here in the EFL Cup when Slaven Bilic was in charge. Although two weeks later he did lose his job.

David Moyes says Reece Oxford might play against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup following his loan period spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.

As for Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino has said in his programme notes that "all the players can take happiness and pride in Harry Kane's achievements as they have played their part and continue to support him."

Kane is going for his third hat-trick in his last three Premier League starts.

West Ham have already had three bids turned down as they attempt to bolster manager David Moyes' squad during the January transfer window.

Moyes has identified the areas he wishes to strengthen but, as yet, the club have been unable to do deals in what has been described as a "difficult market".

Swansea defender Alfie Mawson, Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter are the latest players to be linked, with Moyes known to be keen to bring in more players with Premier League experience.

    You're going to be gutted...

My feeling is that Carroll has to play. The Spurs defence though are no pushovers - they are well up for the fight. Kane is on a different planet to everyone else on the pitch and has relatively fresh legs. Hammers are going to have to play VERY well to keep him out. Could be a classic.
