    Race for the Europa League

It's worth pointing out that the difference between Tottenham finishing fifth and sixth has a bearing on when they would start in next season's Europa League. Fifth means you go into the group stage in September and can have a normal pre-season. Sixth means staring on 30 July and not much of a summer holiday. Liverpool are at Stoke today, while Southampton travel to Manchester City. I'll keep you updated on how they are doing.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is without Tottenham loanee Aaron Lennon as he can't appear against his parent club. So Kevin Mirallas comes in. Sylvain Distin is on the bench in what could be his last game for the club.

Tottenham also make one change to the team that beat Hull last weekend. Moussa Dembele replaces the injured Danny Rose so Spurs will play a 3-5-1-1 formation. Planning for next season already, perhaps?

Tottenham's dip this season has been less marked. They could finish fifth today, which would be a place higher than last season under Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood. But victory would still leave Mauricio Pochettino's team five points shy of last season's total. Where would they be without Harry Kane's goals?

If you were comparing the two teams, it's arguably Everton who've had the more disappointing season. After earning their best ever Premier League points total last term, Roberto Martinez's side are hoping to avoid finishing in the bottom half of the table for the first time since 2005-06.

With both teams setting their sights on breaking into the Premier League's top four at the start of the campaign, it's not been a vintage season for Everton or Tottenham. But finishing as high as possible in the table will still have its financial rewards and for the players involved it's a chance to leave a final impression on their respective managers before the summer break.
