Everton players are now doing a lap of honour with some of them carrying their kids around the pitch. Been a disappointing end to a frustrating season for many fans, I'm sure, but they are greeting the players warmly for their efforts. Always next season, eh?

Spurs striker Harry Kane: "The most important thing was the win. We knew Stoke away at Liverpool would be tough for them, we wanted fifth and we got it. I'm delighted to get on scoresheet. There's no qualifying game for the Europa league and finishing fifth is not bad anyway. We got to the League Cup final too so it's been a productive season."

Spurs players and their fans jubilant. Europa League it is and they get a proper rest this summer too. Crystal Palace beat Swansea 1-0 meaning Everton slip into the bottom half of the table for the first time since 2006.

All over. Relatively easy for Spurs in the end,. They finish fifth, while Everton end up 11th.

Everton's Steven Naismith is through on goal but his effort is blocked. Turns out it was offside anyway.

Three minutes of added time at Goodison.

  7. Postpublished at 16:47 BST 24 May 2015

With Crystal Palace leading 1-0 at home to Swansea, Everton will finish 11th unless they can find a goal.

Stoke are now beating Liverpool 6-1. Leon Osman not impressed by the attentions of Ryan Mason. Time running out for an Everton equaliser.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 16:42 BST 24 May 2015

Brendan Galloway off as Sylvain Distin comes on for his last Everton appearance after a seven-year stay at the club. A great reception from the Goodison faithful. Andros Townsend then replaces Harry Kane.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:41 BST 24 May 2015

Tottenham's Ryan Mason is now booked for a challenge on James McCarthy.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:39 BST 24 May 2015

Everton skipper Phil Jagielka is yellow-carded for scything down Ryan Mason. This game has not been dirty at all but Jan Vertonghen is not happy about that challenge and it's getting a bit heated in the Merseyside sun.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:37 BST 24 May 2015

Christian Eriksen is getting on the ball more and more now, which looks ominous for Everton. Tottenham are good at scoring late goals, so don't bet against them adding another. Tottenham substitute Benjamin Stambouli goes into the book for not retreating from an Everton free-kick.

  13. Postpublished at 16:35 BST 24 May 2015

Muhamed Besic is tripped by Erik Lamela, Gareth Barry clips the Everton free-kick into the area but John Stones's header is wide of the goal.

  14. Postpublished at 16:32 BST 24 May 2015

Everton win a free-kick near the corner of the penalty area. Leon Osman delivers, it's poor and Eric Dier heads clear. The second effort is better but it's flicked on and Tottenham work it out of defence easily.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:31 BST 24 May 2015

Better from Everton. Romelu Lukaku cuts into the right-side of the penalty area. But his effort across goal is too high. Steven Naismith comes on for Kevin Mirallas.

  16. Postpublished at 16:29 BST 24 May 2015

Steven Gerrard has just scored for Liverpool. They are still 5-1 down at Stoke and I'm not sure it will have any bearing on the Europa League permutations. Spurs still in fifth as Nacer Chadli's shot is deflected over the top. Corner comes to nothing.

    Alistair Mann
BBC Match of the Day commentator at Goodison Park

"Tottenham fans are cheering 'ole' which tells you how much they are enjoying their trip to Goodison Park."

  18. Postpublished at 16:26 BST 24 May 2015

Everton work it out to the right where Seamus Coleman lets the ball run under his feet. I'm not trying to be downbeat on their build-up play but it is breaking down an awful lot.

  19. Postpublished at 16:25 BST 24 May 2015

Everton win their second corner of the game as the Gwladys Street end finds its voice. Muhamed Besic finds the top tier from a follow-up shot. Not great.

  20. Postpublished at 16:21 BST 24 May 2015

Harry Kane shows his desire by winning the ball back ahead of Everton's Gareth Barry and when it's worked to Christian Eriksen, the Dane's shot is deflected over for a corner. Spurs are just a bit quicker today. Fazio then heads a second corner wide.
