  1. How's stat?!published at 19:47 BST 16 September 2020

    Andy Zaltzman
    Test Match Special statistician

I'm very excited about a potential stat: if Glenn Maxwell gets 50, with Alex Carey, Sam Billings and Chris Woakes getting 50 too, it will be the first time in an ODI that both six and seven from both sides have got a half-century.

  2. Aus 172-5published at 33 overs

Just four singles off Chris Woakes' latest over. There hasn't been a boundary since the second ball of the 31st over. England clawing back some control.

It's a game that Australia will want to win because they will be hurting from the other day. They should have won the series then, but it was one of the great ODI collapses.

England are favourites, no doubt about that. One more wicket and it's going to be very difficult for the likes of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc to come out on a pitch that is offering some spin.

  4. Aus 171-5published at 32.3 overs

    Target 303

I say the ball hit the glove. It actually hit the wristband, which is part of the glove. An inch higher, it just gets arm, and with the ball going on to hit the stumps, Maxwell would have been out. Fine margins.

That's a good decision by Alex Wharf. If he could tell it actually hit the band of the glove I'm not sure, but it's a good decision.

It's hit him on the arm, on the glove.

  7. Not outpublished at 32 overs

    Aus 168-5

The ball hit the glove, so not out.

That's the second misuse of the review system by England in the over. A few balls earlier, Maxwell got a feather behind, but there was no review.

First the Archer wicket off the no-ball, now this. Chances.

  8. England reviewpublished at 31.5 overs

    Aus 168-5

What shot has Glenn Maxwell played here? He's ended up on all fours. Either way, he's missed it.

    England want a look...

Christophe Talbotski: Stating the obvious, but England need to kill this sharpish. Has got shades of the Champions Trophy final against the Windies in 2004 all over it.

  10. Aus 163-5published at 31 overs

    Target 303

This stand is worth 90, scored at almost 6.5 an over. Australia are ahead of where England were at this stage. Mark Wood's spell has lasted one over. Adil Rashid has changed ends. Glenn Maxwell will have the short boundary on his leg side.

Justin Langer is almost smiling about that half-century. His hands are above his head at least.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Alex Careypublished at 30.2 overs

    Aus 162-5

50 for Alex Carey, from 58 balls. He almost got Australia out of a hole on Sunday and he's got his shovel out again. If you can get out of a hole with more digging, that is. Can you dig up? Perhaps you could fashion some sort of ramp. Or staircase. Whatever it is, Carey is doing it.

Twinhop: From a very staunch Englishman but from a purely cricket perspective, it would be nice to see Glenn Maxwell going berserk. Great batsman on his day.

  14. Aus 158-5published at 30.1 overs

England are really pushing here. Backs comes Chris Woakes, who took two wickets earlier.

That guy is outside with a hooter again, Aggers. He supports the opposite team to who England play. So he supported Pakistan and now Australia.

  16. Aus 158-5published at 30 overs

    Target 303

Close! Carey cramped for room at high pace, almost chopping on to his stumps. He's a strange shot from Carey, played like he's trying to limbo. It was the one that got him caught off the Archer no-ball.

Mark Wood charged in earlier like someone who knew that he wasn't going to have to bowl again for a while.

  18. Aus 151-5published at 29 overs

Here is a move for that wicket. Mark Wood. He's averaged 92mph tonight.

Another 10 overs of this pair and I think Australia will be starting to get excited. But it does need at least another 10 overs of these two.

  20. Aus 151-5published at 29 overs

    Target 303

Maxwell has got an agricultural, open stance. No sweater, short sleeves revealing untanned biceps. He's in the groove. This is good from Rashid, though. Boundary-free. Five from the over. England would love the comfort of a wicket, though.
