    Target 303

Mark Wood is giving it everything. He's has bowled like a runaway train all night. Problem is, he's losing his line and conceding wides down the leg side, mainly because he's trying to err on the side of the long boundary. At this stage, England were 216-5.

  2. 'Rashid not working for England'published at 20:10 BST 16 September 2020

Adil Rashid has either got to be taken off here against Glenn Maxwell or bowl at the other end. Obviously he can still do him with the reverse sweep then but this is not working out well for England.

This pair have now put on 128, it's not only Australia's biggest sixth-wicket stand against England but the second biggest by anyone. The only time there's been a bigger one in ODIs was Kevin O'Brien's and Alex Cusack in Bangalore in 2011.

Maxwell again. He just keeps belting Rashid over that short boundary. How long can England let this happen?

There are 100,000 people in this page right now. There must be so many different things going on while people try to keep an eye on the cricket. Putting the kids to bed, late dinner, homework. At home, in the pub (socially distanced), all corners of the world.

Well, wouldn't that be lovely? What a lovely end to the summer that would be.

I'm going to float something to you, Tuffers. We saw it decide a tournament last year, albeit a tournament that had something bigger than this riding on it: a super over.

How good would it be to have a crowd in right now? Yet another occasion when Old Trafford would be bouncing. Fancy dress in the Party Stand. Bustle in and out of the tram stop. The smells of chips and gravy wafting out of the members' area. They'd be cold, too. I'm regretting wearing shorts.

Adil Rashid still has five overs left. It might be a case of winning us or losing the game with him tonight.

  11. Aus 196-5published at 36 overs

    Target 303

Adil Rashid is going at eight runs an over on a pitch that has turned all day. Australia are cashing in on England's gun bowler.

That was the width. He allowed him to free his arms and that's almost a free hit if you're seeing it well.

  13. Aus 193-5published at 35.3 overs

    Target 303

The umpires have had to clean the ball. England might want them to put a rocket in it. They need a wicket.

How are they going to get that ball back?

    Massive. Just massive.

Never mind it being a short boundary, Glenn Maxwell has fetched Adil Rashid over wide long-on, thudding off the glass at the Point building. A man pops out with some rubber gloves to retrieve the ball. What's he doing in there?

Haven't these two done well? Alex Carey has played nicely and Glenn Maxwell looks like he could have a bonkers half an hour in him. He's certainly capable.

  18. Aus 186-5published at 35 overs

    Target 303

Right then, how are we doing? After the drama of Sunday, can we take much more of this? It's been such a good summer, it's only fitting that the final men's match could yet be a classic. England only need one wicket, though. Pat Cummins is listed to be in next. He's currently sitting on the balcony, shivering despite wearing a long-sleeved sweater.

It's probably the highlight of my life to be honest: numbers six and seven all getting fifties, all four of them in the same ODI. I've been waiting 50 years for this.

50 for Glenn Maxwellpublished at 34 overs

    Aus 184-5

It's been coming! Glenn Maxwell has the temptation of the short leg-side boundary and he's got hold of Adil Rashid. It brings up a 48-ball half-century, earning a thumbs up from Aaron Finch. This game is very much on.
