An early sign of the class and composure that Florian Wirtz brings. With seemingly nowhere to go, he produces a lovely scooped pass to find Ryan Gravenberch.

But Galatasaray win the ball back and win a corner down the left.

It's a really confident start from Liverpool. They're trying to silence this crowd as soon as they possibly can.

Galatasaray are all over the place so far!

More risky play out from the back nearly gifts Liverpool possession again and when the visitors do get the ball, Dominik Szoboszlai gets into the box and his shot is blocked.

And again! Liverpool win it back high once more but then fail to get a shot off. Yet another lucky escape for the hosts.

Big chance for Liverpool after a very sloppy pass from goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

Florian Wirtz takes aim from 25 yards out with the keeper out of position but hits it just wide.

Promising early attack for Liverpool with Ryan Gravenberch, fresh from signing a new contract with the Reds, showing good feet before finding Mohamed Salah.

The winger gets to the bye-line but his attempted cut-back bounces back off the Liverpool man a goal kick.

  8. Ngumoha ready to be unleashed?published at 17:43 GMT 10 March

There was only one player people wanted to talk about after Liverpool's win at Wolves in the FA Cup on Friday.

Seventeen-year-old Rio Ngumoha was given a start and the winger showed just why there is such excitement around Merseyside about his potential.

Liverpool have been very careful with him - even after his dramatic 100th-minute winner at Newcastle early in the season - with Arne Slot at pains to stress the importance of not overplaying him given the risks of injury and burnout for young players exposed to too much top-level football too soon.

But it was a fearless display from the youngster last time out and while regular starts may still be a way off, he may start to see his minutes increase slightly towards the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see if, and when, Slot choses to unleash him tonight?

With kick-off just a few minutes away the atmosphere at RAMS Park is electric.

The place is raucous with the home fans making a deafening noise and having unveiled a tifo in honour of striker Victor Osimhen.

And here come the players, pushing the noise level that bit higher...

Another record for the Egyptian King.

Galatasaray have been formidable at home this Champions League season with three wins, one draw, and just one loss in five contests. The Cim Bom Bom are looking to extend a 10-match home unbeaten streak in all competitions.

Moreover, they've only lost one of their last nine home games against English clubs in all European competition (W5 D3), a 4-1 defeat by Arsenal in December 2014.

But Liverpool boast a fine away record in the competition this season with three wins and just one loss - at tonight's opponents - in matches on their travels.

The visitors have also scored in six straight Champions League contests. They haven't been shut out since that 1-0 loss against Galatasaray in September.

Dominik Szoboszlai has pretty much got Liverpool's player of the season award wrapped up already.

In a frustrating season for Arne Slot's side, the midfielder has provided a beacon of hope with his dynamic performances and some eye-catching goals.

The Hungary captain has been directly involved in eight goals in the UEFA Champions League this term (4 goals, 4 assists), more than any other Liverpool player.

The only central midfielder with more in a single edition for the Reds is Steven Gerrard, who notched 10 in 2007-08 (6 goals, 4 assists).

Tonight marks Arne Slot's 100th game as Liverpool head coach.

After a dream first season, in which he guided the club to their 20th league title, things have been tougher in his second.

However, a win tonight would be his 63rd as Reds boss, taking him past Kenny Dalglish's record of 62 wins in his first 100 games in charge of Liverpool.

"It makes me really proud that I have become a Liverpool manager and it is my 100th game," Slot said.

"I don't think I have a bad track record in these 100 games, although sometimes you get a different feeling about that if you listen to everything.

"But it is nice that my 100th game is such a nice one to play."

  14. Vicario position under threatpublished at 17:30 GMT 10 March

Atletico Madrid v Tottenham (20:00 GMT)

    Sami Mokbel
    BBC Sport Senior football correspondent

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s place is under major threat for tonight’s Champions League tie at Atletico Madrid.

Vicario is the club’s recognised first-choice goalkeeper but head coach Igor Tudor is understood to be seriously considering starting Antonin Kinsky in tonight’s European last-16 first-leg tie in the Spanish capital.

Italy custodian Vicario has faced criticism in recent weeks for his performances in Spurs’ run of just two wins in 14 matches in all competitions.

Vicario losing his place would come as a shock given his position as one of Tottenham’s senior players.

Indeed, Thomas Frank, who was sacked as head coach last month, named Vicario in his leadership team that also includes Cristian Romero, James Maddison, Ben Davies and Micky van der Ven.

Kinsky has made just two appearances for Tottenham this season, both coming in the EFL Cup last year.

The Czech shot-stopper arrived at Tottenham from Slavia Prague in January 2025 and went straight into the starting XI under Ange Postecoglou due to an injury Vicario was recovering from.

But he lost his place as soon as Vicario was fit and has struggled for first-team opportunities ever since.

Andy Robertson was superb against Wolves, David. There's no doubt about that.

What I would say, though, is that after a difficult start at Liverpool, Milos Kerkez has quietly been very good for a few months now as well.

Two good options for Arne Slot to have from now until the end of the season.

Slot obviously sees something in Kerkez but after his display against Wolves, I hope Robertson is banging on the manager's door asking for explanations. He should be starting tonight.

    Galatasaray v Liverpool (17:45 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I did the game earlier in the season when Liverpool went to Galatasaray and it was a poor performance.

It's been an up and down season for Liverpool, you're not quite sure what you're going to get.

They'll be looking to get a good result to take back to Anfield. I think they'll do that.

I think they would've learned from the earlier game in the season what they did wrong. I don't think they'll make the same mistakes again.

Liverpool have been very inconsistent, certainly nothing like what they were last season. But there's without doubt a good team in there.

I think they'll have enough to get through to the quarter-finals over both legs.

This is the second time these sides have met in this year's Champions League with Galatasaray claiming a 1-0 win at RAMS Park in the league phase.

Liverpool had a couple of good early chances but failed to take them and, ultimately, the game was decided by Victor Osimhen's 16th-minute penalty for the hosts.

Okan Buruk's side will be hoping for a repeat tonight, although with a second leg at Anfield to follow, they might feel they need a slightly bigger advantage after the first leg.
