A somewhat bizarre first half.

Galatasaray took the lead in the seventh minute, by which time Liverpool might reasonably have felt they should have been a goal or two up.

The home side continued to create chances, while Liverpool's dried up somewhat. The opportunities to create chances certainly didn't but some of their passing has left a lot to be desired.

This game is there for Arne Slot's men but they need to tighten up defensively and keep hold of the ball a lot better.

Liverpool are all over the place.

Against Wolves, they looked way more confident and the understanding of playing together for years felt more comfortable.

As a neutral you are loving this game. Galatasaray are going toe-to-toe with Liverpool and they are actually playing better. As a Liverpool fan you are thinking what is going on?

Liverpool are being out-muscled.

We're into two added minutes as Liverpool's free-kick comes to nothing as the referee blows for a foul by Virgil van Dijk on Mario Lemina.

Brilliant spin from Ryan Gravenberch and then a pass that Hugo Ekitike just manages to get under control.

He goes down but there's nothing doing.

But Liverpool do get a free-kick moments later when Domink Szoboszlai is shoved over. Chance to load the box again.

Hugo Ekitike's deep cross is headed back into the middle by Milos Kerkez but it's too high for Florian Wirtz to get any power behind his header in the middle.

The home side break and win a corner. But this one is dealt with by Arne Slot's side.

I'm not sure whether it is the noise inside RAMS Park or if Liverpool have just been rattled by the way this game has gone but there have been some bizarre errors.

The latest sees Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch both look at each other and watch Mario Lemina nip between them to head the ball forward and start a Galatasaray attack.

They'll both be relieved it comes to nothing.

It's almost like Liverpool want to walk the ball into the Galatasaray goal tonight.

A big waste - they are trying to be clever and as that cross came back to Joe Gomez, he was leaning back and off balance. Liverpool need more composure.

The corner comes to nothing but Liverpool do get a free-kick midway inside the hosts' half.

A clever free-kick routine goes wrong and ends with Joe Gomez slicing a cross behind for a goal kick.

Sums it up for Liverpool in the final third. Well, both final thirds I suppose.

Sweeping Liverpool counter-attack after they comfortably deal with the Galatasaray free-kick.

Great touch from Mohamed Salah to collect Giorgi's Mamardashvili's long kick out.

His cross is eventually put behind and it's a corner to Liverpool now.

Galatasaray are a team of misfits. They know the tempo of the Premier League and have that experience of playing against these players.

They are used to playing under pressure and are not afraid of getting on the ball. That is plain to see.

Now we have got the first yellow card as Milos Kerkez bundles over Baris Alper Yilmaz on the touchline.

Very little in it, really. A harsh yellow but Yilmaz is still down.

Back under way and Mario Lemina is a tad fortunate to escape for booking for a trip on Ryan Gravenberch, who had rolled him smartly.
