  1. Scheffler sinks 40-footerpublished at 21:05 BST 19 June

    Scheffler +1 (15*)

Scottie Scheffler will want to get a birdie run going, but his approach shot leaves him with plenty of work to do.

A putt from 40 feet surely is too much to ask?

Nope. He drains it and shows zero emotion.

    Here we go!

  2. Hatton making progresspublished at 21:02 BST 19 June

    Hatton +2 (7*)

I'll catch you up with Tyrrell Hatton who is putting together a nice round.

He's just slotted in an important par putt at the seventh to keep his card clean.

He's currently two under for his round and moving in the right direction.

And he's wearing a very snazzy shirt filled with sea creatures. We fans of his attire?

  3. Higgs gets out of jailpublished at 20:59 BST 19 June

    Higgs -3 (12)

Par was not on the cards when a pumped-up Harry Higgs slashed his drive off the 12th tee and it sliced miles out to the right and flying towards the out of bounds.

Luckily it pulled up just short and he then played a wonder shot out of the rough to find the green - sinking that putt would've been too much of a break but he'll take a par.

  4. Not this time for Tommypublished at 20:59 BST 19 June

    McIlroy -2, Fleetwood E, Aberg -1 (6)

Just a par for Masters champ Rory McIlroy at six, but it's another stress-free hole: fairway and green found and two putts.

Ludvig Aberg is still searching for his first birdie of the day after another putt stays above ground.

But can Tommy Fleetwood make it back-to-back birdies? From 18 feet...not this time.

  5. Par for Schefflerpublished at 20:51 BST 19 June

    Scheffler +2 (14*)

Scottie Scheffler's booming tee shot leaves him 139 yards from the pin.

He clips his approach into birdie range, but his putt from 14 feet slides past.

Par for the world number one.

Thanks guys. Why would I waste my energy searching facts when you get paid for it? I can sit here drinking many beers and reading the fab chat.

Geoff, by pool in Dominican Republic

It's a very fair comeback from Geoff [20:34] and my suspicions were confirmed about the chilling he's doing.

Thanks for joining us from your hols. Anyone else tuning in from beyond our shores?

  7. Max lands a birdiepublished at 20:49 BST 19 June

    Greyserman -3 (4)

Max Greysen lands a 15 footer for another birdie on the fourth, his second of the day as he consolidates his position in the chasing pack - in a tie for second in fact.

He's only from nearby New Jersey so he's got plenty of support out there today.

  8. Bounceback birdie for Fitzpublished at 20:45 BST 19 June

    A Fitzpatrick +1 (3)

Cracking response from Alex Fitzpatrick at the third to that bogey as he dials in his approach to nine feet and dead-eyes the putt.

Back to +1 and level for his round.

  9. Higgs from downtown!published at 20:44 BST 19 June

    Higgs -3 (11)

Harry Higgs opts for the putter from off the back of the 11th green - one of the toughest greens on the golf course and the second hardest hole out there today.

He's officially 75 feet away, but that's just the start of it as he has to navigate the huge bank then a ton of break too, but after giving his putter a big swing and the ball a meaty smack it races up onto the green, tracks and then lands in the cup!

    An outrageous putt that one!

  10. Birdies for McIlroy and Fleetwoodpublished at 20:40 BST 19 June

    McIlroy -2, Fleetwood E, Aberg -1 (5)

Rory McIlroy's power enables him to thump a nine-iron into the par-five. It's a fine shot into the middle of the green and a great effort with the eagle putt, too.

He's baffled as his ball stays straight instead of breaking back to the right, but it's a birdie and he makes his first move of the day.

Tommy Fleetwood matches the Northern Irishman's birdie despite missing the fairway, but it's a five for Ludvig Aberg after a wayward drive.

Geoff has plenty of time on his hands chilling in the Caribbean.

Should have got him to search up those siblings facts!

Have we had any siblings/family as major winners? Feel Alex Fitz has the game to win one, especially on current form and match Matt's own major. Maybe not this one but the future possibly

Alex Fitzpatrick has been sensational since winning the Zurich Classic alongside Matt to earn his PGA Tour card.

He's just bogeyed the second hole to slip to +2, but his game remains in decent nick.

As for famous golfing siblings, there's the Molinari brothers, the Hojgaard twins or Min Woo and Min Jee Lee if we're keeping an eye on the women's side too.

In terms of brothers to win majors, there are a few in the annals. Willie Park Snr and his brother Mungo both won the Open Championship in the 19th century - as did son Willie Park Jnr.

Lionel and Jay Hebert won the US PGA Championship in 1957 and 1960 respectively.

American brothers Willie Smith and Alex Smith are the only brothers to win the US Open.

  13. Bogey for Schefflerpublished at 20:30 BST 19 June

    Scheffler +2 (4*)

A clean tee shot whistles up the fourth fairway from Scottie Scheffler. In prime position, he then drops his club in frustration as his approach from a fraction over 100 yards leaks left and finds the bunker.

After carefully removing about a dozen tiny stones from the sand, under the watchful eye of an official, he is chuntering to himself as his splash out leaves him 10 feet from the pin. His par putt catches the edge of the cup but doesn't drop.

    A bogey.

  14. Postpublished at 20:30 BST 19 June

    McIlroy -1, Fleetwood +1, Aberg -1 (4)

Rory McIlroy piped his drive 396 yards down the fifth yesterday, leading to an eagle.

He's only managed to move it out there a measly 393 today.

    Pitiful.

  15. Greyserman in touchpublished at 20:26 BST 19 June

    Greyserman -2 (3)

Max Greyserman made the perfect start to his round with a birdie at the first - followed it up with a nice par and he's up and running and pretty nicely placed to have a run at things.

The 31-year-old is making his fourth US Open start, making two cuts from three previous appearances.

  16. 'Frustrated not to keep momentum going'published at 20:22 BST 19 June

  17. Bradley missing birdie puttspublished at 20:18 BST 19 June

    Bradley -1 (5*)

The familiar hunched putting style of Keegan Bradley fills the tv screen. He's done his club twirl before settling over the ball. And he takes no time in sending it on its way towards the hole.

But he's not given that enough juice. That's a fourth hole in a row where he's missed a mid-range birdie putt. He's right in the mix though.

  18. How hard is it out there?published at 20:16 BST 19 June

Time for me to own my error in the graph I stuck up at 19:42. That graph showed the averages for the whole tournament not today's figures.

Round two is indeed playing a touch easier than round one and actually there are five holes averaging scores under par today.

So an opportunity to make progress is out there.

A graph showing averages to par for all 18 holes - under par are 5, 8, 9, 16 and 18
  19. Fleetwood's frustrationpublished at 20:14 BST 19 June

    McIlroy -1, Fleetwood +1, Aberg -1 (4)

Rory McIlroy comes up woefully short with a wedge from 113 yards at the fourth. It falls off the front and trickles back down the slope. Another puzzling miscalculation from a good position.

His short game is dialled in, though, as he flicks a pitch up to two feet and takes his par.

A fine approach sets up a birdie chance for Tommy Fleetwood from 15 feet, but he can't convert. The frustration builds.

  20. Scott's early woespublished at 20:10 BST 19 June

    Scott +5 (3*)

Adam Scott's second round has not exactly started in style.

The Australian, who is playing in his 100th consecutive major, was punished for being wayward off the tee on his opening two holes, the 10th and 11th but he's now tapped in for par to settle things down on the 12th.
