    A couple of interesting little nuggets from yesterday's round concerning the world's top two players.

    Including today's round, world number one Scottie Scheffler has failed to break par in any of his last 10 US Open rounds dating back to the final round in 2023 at Los Angeles Country Club. He is 14-over during this stretch.

    And Rory McIlroy's eagle at the fifth earlier was the fourth of his US Open career - and first since 2017 - but his first on a par-five at the 140th attempt. All three of his previous eagles were on par-fours.

    Matt Fitzpatrick is up and out nice and early, and has already picked up a birdie on the eighth, his penultimate hole of the first round, so he moves to within three of the runaway leader Wyndham Clark.

    Welcome golf fans back to the 126th US Open from Shinnecock Hills in New York - where after a warning for strong winds it was a strong Wynd who hit the headlines!

    Wyndham Clark blazed into a four-shot lead when darkness fell last night with still two holes of his first round to complete - but that lead has already changed this morning...

    As players are out on the course right now to get this first round finished off, after a two-hour delay yesterday morning due to fog.

    Matt Fitzpatrick is up and out early as well this morning and challenging, as is former world number one Dustin Johnson who has been rolling back the years.

    We'll bring you up to speed on yesterday's first round, preview today's second round and get right into the live action as the leaders finish off to start what should be a hectic day of major golf on Long Island.
