WICKETpublished at 15:50 BST 4 April

    McCann b Pretorius c TKC 31 (Som 347 v Notts 128-3)

59 balls became a bit of a vigil for Freddie McCann.

An easy catch into the first slip bread basket, though he did nearly drop it!

Pretorius with all of the Notts wickets thus far, 3-19 on his first outing after no preseason, he arrived just on Monday this week remember.

  2. Latest from Derbypublished at 15:49 BST 4 April

Derbyshire's bowlers are finding this pitch as unresponsive as their Worcestershire counterparts at the moment.

Dan Lategan is 38 not out and the Pears are 59-0 after 14 overs replying to Derbyshire's mammoth 625-8 declared.

  3. Bad light stops play at Edgbastonpublished at 15:47 BST 4 April

    Warwicks 251-2 v Surrey 328

That will be an early tea in Birmingham.

Warwickshire have batted themselves in a fine position, trailing Surrey by 77 with eight wickets in hand, with Dan Mousley and Sam Hain making unbeaten fifties after Alex Davies (58) and Rob Yates (70) departed earlier.

The light has worsened over the past 15 minutes and the umpires got together for a quick chat, with tea looming within a few balls anyway.

Hopefully back under way in 20 minutes or so with 33 overs remaining in the day.

  4. Postpublished at 15:47 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 128-2

One of Notts' best shots yet.

A half volley from Craig Overton beautifully struck straight for four.

Joe Clarke on 33* overtaking Freddie McCann already.

Stand in skipper Craig Overton is getting pumped up here, that can be dangerous, back to back boundaries not helping his mood after the lbws being turned down.

Remember he will be reviewing the umpires' performances after the match as captain for this one.

  5. Postpublished at 15:46 BST 4 April

    Leics 244-8 v Sussex 361

Ben Green can be dangerous with the bat, as he has shown on more than one occasion in white-ball cricket.

It's a red ball he is facing today but when Henry Crocombe drops short, he swivels and pulls it away with ease for the seventh boundary of his innings - he is now 43 not out.

  6. Postpublished at 15:46 BST 4 April

    Hants v Essex 425-7

Shane Snater and Simon Harmer are pushing the pace with the former swiping Liam Dawson for a maximum and now the latter punching Codi Yusuf off the back foot for four on the off side.

  7. Tea at Lordspublished at 15:44 BST 4 April

    Mid 445-9 dec v Glos 17-2

Home skipper Leus du Plooy eventually declared not long after being dismissed shy of a personal 200.

Gloucestershire, already weary from 131 overs in the field then lost two early in the mini session before the 20 minute break.

First skipper Cam Bancroft was bowled by Toby Roland-Jones for six, then Ben Charlesworth was also bowled by the same man for nine.

Joe Phillips takes tea 0* off five balls.

  8. 250 runs

up for Warwickshirepublished at 15:43 BST 4 April

    Warwicks 250-2 v Surrey 328

A first batting point of the season is brought up by a Sam Hain single off Dan Lawrence to move on to 55*.

There are still 48 overs remaining for Warwickshire to find more, and at north of four an over so far, they might have an eye on a maximum five points for reaching 450 inside 110 overs... unless Surrey can do something to wrestle back some initiative before then, of course.

  9. Postpublished at 15:41 BST 4 April

    Glamorgan 254-7 v Yorks

Timm van der Gugten pushes Logan van Beek for a single to secure a batting bonus point for Glamorgan - vantastic action at Sophia Gardens.

The Dutchman celebrates by cutting George Hill for four in the next over.

  10. Postpublished at 15:40 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 114-2

Another first over of a session, another massive Devonian shout for lbw from Craig Overton, more a bellow than a shout.

Haseeb Hameed got away with one earlier, Joe Clarke does this time, the fielders cannot see why it is not given and Clarke himself has a guilty look as he turns around and has a chuckle with Freddie McCann.

Miggy Pretorius tries from the Pavilion End for the first time this year.

Most enjoyable morning’s cricket for a Derbyshire fan that I can recall. ….with excellent commentary from Dave Fletcher of Radio Derby!

    David, Bakewell

Not every day your side declares on 625, David. Seems the good times are back at Derby.

  12. Postpublished at 15:39 BST 4 April

    Leics 235-8 v Sussex 361

BBC Radio Leicester's Richard Rae has spotted an ice cream van in the vicinity of Grace Road.

Sam Wood gets a thick inside edge to a ball from Fynn Hudson-Prentice but the ball just misses the stumps.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Harmerpublished at 15:38 BST 4 April

    Hants v Essex 405-7

Simon Harmer cuts across a well-pitched delivery to take two runs past cover and move to his half century. This has been another good knock from the South African spinner.

  14. Evening session starts in Tauntonpublished at 15:37 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 114-2

A couple of minutes late, a longer tea interval, but Tom Abell has been out catching with Steve Kirby ever since the evening session should have started, warming his hands up ready to hover at third slip.

Craig Overton to open to Joe Clarke who is 23*.

  15. Division Two updatepublished at 15:36 BST 4 April

You are getting specific updates from Durham and Northants, but do not forget both Worcestershire and Gloucestershire are facing mammoth totals with both having just gone out to start their pursuit.

Worcestershire have passed 50 with their opening stand, Mo Abbas doing the bowling on his professional Derbyshire debut. 52-0.

Gloucestershire have not reached 50 without loss though, their captain Cam Bancroft was bowled by Toby Roland-Jones for six. Cornish bat Joe Phillips has joined Ben Charlesworth, 16-1.

  16. Northeast falls short of centurypublished at 15:33 BST 4 April

Kent all out against Durham for 197

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

With his last partner at the other end - and the light starting to diminish - Sam Northeast decided it was time to take the game to Durham in a bid to reach three figures.

But when he was on 94 he tried to cut Kemar Roach past point and was caught behind by Ollie Robinson, to leave Kent all out and trailing by 138.

Robinson finished with four catches, including a great one-handed effort to see off Keith Dudgeon a little earlier for 22.

Roach took 3-63 on his Durham debut, while England's Matty Potts finished with 3-45.

The big issue now is the weather. The lights are on but it's got rather dark and rain is falling. The big covers are coming on too and Storm Dave is just around the corner, with yesterday's yellow weather warning now upgraded to amber by The Met Office!

  17. Five-wicket haul for Robinsonpublished at 15:33 BST 4 April

It's a good afternoon for England pacemen.

OK, James Anderson may now be in the 'former' category, but taking five wickets in the first game of the season is the perfect way for Ollie Robinson to remind the selectors of his ability.

He has Ben Cox lbw for 44, ending a stand of 81 with Ben Green.

  18. 50 runs

for Sam Hainpublished at 15:32 BST 4 April

    Warwicks 242-2 v Surrey 328

74 balls for Sam Hain who has effortlessly compiled a half-century, with six fours.

That's four batters up, and four fifties for Warwickshire, can either Hain or Dan Mousley turn theirs into three figures, where Alex Davies and Rob Yates could not, however?

  19. Postpublished at 15:30 BST 4 April

    Glamorgan 243-7 v Yorks

Timm van der Gugten and Mason Crane are frustrating Yorkshire here.

The Tykes would have been looking to wrap things up quickly after getting rid of Colin Ingram for 103, but nine further overs have ticked by without another breakthrough.

Van der Gugten is 22 not out and Crane has 12.

  20. Early tea at CLSpublished at 15:30 BST 4 April

    Durham 335 v Kent 197

Another swift and sensible decision at Chester-le-Street as an early tea will be taken during this delay.

It will mean another mammoth final session when they get back out there. In theory 52 overs remain in the day, though not sure we see them all.

It was a 19:00 BST finish yesterday and can imagine it will be similar again today.

But how big of a lead will Durham have by then?
