  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:37 BST 4 April

    Gubbins b Cook 0 (Hants 0-1 v Essex 461-7d)

That is a shocker for Nick Gubbins. Sam Cook goes around the wicket to the left-handed opener and he totally misjudges the line, shouldering arms and hearing his off stump knocked back.

Tom Prest is the new batsman at the crease and he gets a sharply rising inswinger first ball which hits him high on the pad.

  2. Postpublished at 17:34 BST 4 April

    Glamorgan 299-8 v Yorks

Glamorgan still collecting runs where they can - Mason Crane hits a boundary off Dom Bess and is 47 not out, having failed to make a half-century last season.

  3. Postpublished at 17:32 BST 4 April

    Durham 325 & 64-2 v Kent 197

The Durham lead is past 200 as Kent remove a slip fielder in an attempt to stem the flow of runs.

It's actually looked a decent batting track, it's just the conditions have been very useful for the bowlers throughout.

Kent will not fancy a chase of 350+ on the final day nomatter the clouds, though.

  4. Postpublished at 17:31 BST 4 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 72-1

Tom Scriven angles one towards Tom Clark but the left-hander has loads of time to flip it with a flick of the wrists through mid-wicket for four. Clark moves to 14 not out and the lead is 188.

  5. Under way at Southamptonpublished at 17:31 BST 4 April

    Hants 0-0 v Essex 461-7d

Set for a restart with it looking a fraction brighter at the Utilita Bowl. Essex player are buzzing around in busily and the Hampshire openers are looking less than enthusiastic.

Nick Gubbins and Joe Weatherley with the bats and Jamie Porter has the ball in hand with the latter in his sights.

Bright and sunny 10 miles from Southampton

    Mike, New Forest

Ahh, the frustrations of Easter cricket. The good thing about Storm David is the clouds are being buffeted about pretty quickly so we live in hope of brighter times ahead and more cricket tonight.

  7. 50 runs

50 partnership between Haynes & Clarkepublished at 17:27 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 180-3

Jack Leach has barely turned a ball yet, this pitch looking more like the Worcestershire pitch in the season opener last campaign when Banton got his record score than any Ciderabad dubbed pitches.

Although there was probably more in this for the seamers, both top orders got away with plenty of play and misses such that there was never really a topple of wickets for either side.

These two look at ease now with the ball going soft, Somerset will probably turn to one of their three part-time left-armers to join Leach in the attack soon.

  8. Postpublished at 17:25 BST 4 April

    Durham 325 & 59-2 v Kent 197

David Bedingham survives a concerted appeal from Matt Milnes for one which looks a little high and leg-side but then follows it up with a textbook drive through extra cover for four from the next ball which was just a smidge wide. It takes him to 14*.

Milnes recovers well to finish the over but the lead is still up to 197.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 17:23 BST 4 April

Mohammad Abbas appears to be wearing a polo neck body warmer under his cricket shirt at Derby. He has 0-29 from his first seven overs against Worcestershire, who are 99-2 in reply to the home side's 625-8 declared.

Miles Hammond is holding the Gloucestershire first innings together at Lord's - he is 34 not out in their 61-3 after Middlesex declared on 445-9.

  10. Bad light stops play at Wantage Roadpublished at 17:22 BST 4 April

    Northants 215-9 v Lancs 384

Six overs is all they can crowbar in before bad light once again interrupts the Northants rearguard.

Lewis McManus (16) and Harry Conway (1) stand between Lancs and their second innings but neither side will be keen to bat on in this tonight.

A return in the morning would suit all parties you would think.

  11. Postpublished at 17:22 BST 4 April

    Durham 325 & 54-2 v Kent 197

Keith Dudgeon is right back on the money after that brief retreat to the pavilion.

Just a single to Ben McKinney off the over.

Matt Milnes will continue for now, but Grant Stewart can't be far from Daniel Bell-Drummond's thoughts after his three wickets in the first innings.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Joe Clarkepublished at 17:18 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 174-3

That delay did not affect his concentration too much.

Joe Clarke got away with a very out looking lbw earlier on, but has played some great drives off the seamers since.

He tried to hit Jack Leach's first two balls towards the river, but has barely faced him since, this will be the key battle for the rest of his innings.

  13. Back under way at CLSpublished at 17:17 BST 4 April

    Durham 325 & 53-2 v Kent 197

The dark clouds have skidded over towards the North Sea and the players are summoned back by the umpires after a positive light reading.

Will the brief interruption upset the rhythm which Ben McKinney and David Bedingham had found?

    We'll soon see.

In theory 32 overs remain in the day. Durham are 191 runs to the good with eight wickets remaining.

  14. Bad light stops play at Southamptonpublished at 17:16 BST 4 April

    Hants 0-0 v Essex 461-7d

Hampshire are yet to start their reply with bad light intervening again just as the players were set to return. And it could well be that they get away with it tonight with the gloom descending at the Utilita Bowl.

  15. Back on in Somersetpublished at 17:14 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 171-3

I have few words to explain that 14 minute delay, but they are eventually back on in lovely conditions.

There are genuine shadows from the sunshine, the brightest conditions of the match so far now.

We play quite late tonight with 27 overs still to be bowled, that delay has not helped fans get the last train back to Penzance tonight.

  16. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 17:13 BST 4 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 54-1

Daniel Hughes flashes at an angled ball in Yadvinder Singh's first over of this innings but Rishi Patel cannot hang onto a head-high chance at slip.

To make matters worse for the bowler, the ball runs away for four runs. Patel scrutinises his hand - that may have stung a bit.

  17. Division Two updatepublished at 17:13 BST 4 April

Gloucestershire have staged something of a fightback but these things are relative given they were 26-3 chasing Middlesex's 445-9 declared. They have reached 52-3 with Oli Price and Miles Hammond batting.

Worcs's Dan Lategan continues to impress and is currently on 63 from 102 balls as his side mount a response to Derbys 625-8. Lategan has Adam Hose for company.

  18. 'Surge of noise greeted Mousley milestone'published at 17:11 BST 4 April

    Warwicks 330-2 v Surrey 328

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Dan Mousley’s first Warwickshire hundred has been a little while coming.

Good judges here have liked his potential for a long time, but has red-ball progress has not always been smooth since he first broke into the side aged 18.

His first-class average has lingered below 30, although those figures do not always reflect him batting in styles to put the needs of the team first, in various positions around the order.

Batting at number three confers on him a new responsibility, and he batted with that in mind this afternoon to consolidate the Bears’ strong start.

There was a brief wobble as he rounded 90, but he seized the moment with successive boundaries, sweeping Dan Lawrence for four to raise 100.

Sam Hain greeted Mousley with a huge hug and the surge of noise around the ground will have meant the world to this proudest of Bears.

On a now-benign pitch, there may be quite a few more runs available here to be claimed yet.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:11 BST 4 April

Van der Gugten b Bess 40 (Glamorgan 283-8 v Yorks)

Yorkshire's acting captain Dom Bees makes the breakthrough, squeezing one through Timm van der Gugten's defences to break the stubborn eight-wicket stand with Mason Crane.

Hard to see how that found a gap - maybe there was a little inside edge.

  20. Off for bad light but sunglasses on as they re-emerge!published at 17:09 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 171-3

It is not a good look when the sun is blaring down on the ground and the umpires are nowhere to be seen.

The floodlights are still on but pointless as we have the nicest weather of the day right now but no cricket on.

Massive ironic cheers as umpires Graham Lloyd and Paul Pollard finally return from their rushed bonus tea and cake with sunglasses on!

Should be underway imminently, but you never know in this competition often shooting itself in the foot sadly.
