Hull add to Hughes pressurepublished at 08:34

    EFL Cup

    Mark HughesImage source, Getty Images

It was another bad night for Stoke City and boss Mark Hughes.

The Potters fell to a 2-1 home defeat by Hull City and have now lost their last four matches in all competitions.

Despite their poor start Hughes is remaining upbeat: "We were by far the better team on show, we were the only team trying to make things happen and unfortunately, despite creating 23 shots at goal, we scored one and they managed to score two of their four or five - it's hard to take.

"The longer this run goes on without our first win then the more significant each game becomes for us, so we will attempt to get that first win at the weekend - and there is absolutely no reason why we can't do that."

Everton a turning point - Howepublished at 08:24

Bournemouth v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Last season's home draw with Everton was "a turning point" for Bournemouth, according to boss Eddie Howe.

The Cherries conceded in injury-time to go 3-2 down but equalised with a stoppage time goal of their own to claim a point.

They then went on to win three successive matches as they comfortably avoided relegation.

Howe said: "The game against Everton last season was a turning point for us. It showed that we weren't here just to play.

"It showed our spirit, determination and ability to grind out results. Those things kept us up last season."

Cherries must bounce back - Howepublished at 08:19

Bournemouth v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has said his side can not afford to dwell on last week's 4-0 defeat by Manchester City.

He said: "We reflect back and will learn a lot from the game against Man City. In this league, for us, there are going to be disappointing days.

"We have to brush ourselves down and go again because there is always another game just around the corner.

"Until the first Man City goal we were OK. The first three goals came from us having the ball, so that's something to look at."

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has said British managers must prove they are good enough to manage in the Premier League.

England manager Sam Allardyce has said it could soon have no English bosses.

"I have no problem with the fact that the Premier League doesn't have as many English, or British, managers as it should," the 38-year-old told BBC TV's The Premier League Show.

"I think we [Britons] have to prove we're good enough for those jobs."
