    As for Saturday's opponents, Bournemouth, Ronald Koeman is expecting a challenging afternoon on the south coast.

    Under his predecessor, Roberto Martinez, this match finished 3-3 last season with Everton taking a 3-2 lead deep in injury time only to concede a 97th-minute equaliser.

    "Against different systems, you have to be prepared. Bournemouth are a strong team who like to play football," Koeman says.

    On the injury front, Everton boss says Romelu Lukaku trained on his own today after missing the Norwich defeat with a minor toe injury. The Belgian striker is expected to train with the squad tomorrow.

    The Dutchman adds: "Phil Jagielka is OK. We rested him this week. James McCarthy is running already and Darron Gibson will follow suit in one week."

    Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye has quickly become very popular amongst Everton supporters through his superb performances since joining from Aston Villa in the summer.

    Boss Ronald Koeman isn't surprised by how he's settled in at Goodison.

    "The adaptation of the players hasn't taken long. He is playing comfortable," he says.  

    "He puts a lot of energy on the pitch and he's comfortable on the ball. He's a great signing."

    He says: "I was not happy about the result of course. I was comfortable with what they showed - it was not good enough because we did not score the goal. In general I was not disappointed by the work-rate of the team.

    "It's cup football and you don't get a second chance. We need to go on because we've had a good start to the season."

    West Brom manager Tony Pulis has said it is "amazing" that his 1,000th game in management will be at former side Stoke City.

    Pulis had two spells as Potters boss, leading them to the Premier League in 2008.

    He said: "Getting to 1,000 games in management, for the game to drop at Stoke, it's amazing really.

    "When I come out of football I'll look back and think of my 1,000 games as an achievement. Now it's just the next game for me.

    "I have been privileged and honoured to have managed a lot of clubs on the way to taking charge of 1,000 games."
