Phelan 'doesn't know who is involved' in managerial decisionpublished at 09:58 BST 16 September 2016

Hull v Arsenal (Saturday, 15:00 BST)

    Hull City

Mike Phelan is still no closer to being offered the Hull City job full-time, despite impressing in the role as caretaker.

And the 53-year-old seems to have lost track of who actually has the power to give him the job.

"We are in discussions, we have had a week of trying to sort things out - we’re still at that stage," he said.

"Nothing has transpired that has made me put pen to paper.

"There’s still the takeover in the background and I find myself in the middle of that, trying to sort out my future.

"I don’t know who is involved any more and how far discussions have gone. It is possibly a frustrating thing from my point of view."

I don't know whether this is a welcome nugget of nostalgia for United fans, or a painful memory of faded glory days.

In 1998, Manchester United played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Barcelona at Old Trafford as they began their road to European glory.

Their journey ended with the memorable Champions League final win over Bayern Munich. "And Solskjaer has done it!" Fantastic memories.

    Football

Mourinho said he will revert to a "normal team" against Watford on Sunday after the last night's defeat.

Mourinho made eight changes for the game and saw his side produce an uninspiring display as they lost 1-0.

"It is obvious that we left players like [Antonio] Valencia and [Luke] Shaw at home to play and to rest," he said.

United next play Watford in the league and Mourinho added: "We go back to a normal team without so many changes."

Hard luck on Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo who replaced Valencia and Shaw in Feyenoord - the abnormal team?

Sam Clucas was on time and first up to face to the media at Hull City's training ground.

The future of Mike Phelan was about the fourth question in, bit harsh to throw it in first...

"Mike Phelan’s been brilliant. We still don’t really know what’s going on with that, it’s out of our hands.

"He’s been trying to keep us in the loop as best he can. Hopefully it will be sewn up sooner rather than later."

David Moyes could welcome back midfielders Steven Pienaar and Lee Cattermole for the trip to London on Sunday.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says defender Pape Soaure is expected to leave hospital on Saturday, after breaking a thigh bone in a car accident.

"A good number of players have gone up to see him. It was a serious incident. Apologies to all involved and thanks to all who helped.

"He's very lucky his injuries aren't as bad as they could have been. The extent of some of the muscular injuries are still not known."

Moyes 'heading out to the grass'published at 09:18 BST 16 September 2016

Tottenham v Sunderland (Sunday, 16:30 BST)

    Sunderland

David Moyes hasn't had the most inspiring of starts to his Sunderland career, losing three of his first four matches and drawing the other.

However, the former Everton and Manchester United man insists that it is his players who need to buck their ideas up and turn around the club's poor start to the season.

"At this point you have two options," he said.

"You can either buy new players or get out on the grass and work with the players. Well, we can’t get new players now so we’re heading out to the grass.

"But the players have to stand up as well, they have to show they’re better than what they showed the other night."

Crystal Palace v Stoke (Sunday, 14:15 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has been speaking about the injury suffered by defender Pape Souare in a car accident last week.

"It was a broken thigh, there will be a rod through that bone. That should repair stronger. In four, five or six months - he should be up and running again.

"I'm not really clear of the details of the accident.

"He's having some bad news with his father - he's very sick - so maybe that was on his mind. But it's a situation he couldn't avoid."

West Brom v West Ham (Saturday, 15:00 BST)

    West Bromwich Albion

Tony Pulis is sat in the hot chair, and inevitably he's fielding questions on the club's takeover by a Chinese investment group.

"I'm pleased the takeover has gone through, we can move on from here," said Pulis.

"There is speculation all the time but you have to get on with it and wash it away. There are lots of ups and downs and I will deal with it the way I think is right.

"You have to take criticism. The fans have a right to voice opinions, it's their club. They've a right to say what they think."

I had a text off a mate last week after Mike Phelan was named Manager of the Month for August, but still hadn't been given the job at Hull City on a permanent basis.

My friend, who's a Manchester United fan, said: "That's ridiculous, just let the man wear his shorts! What does he have to do?"

After a new consortium entered talks over a takeover of the club earlier this week, Phelan remains in temporary charge.

Is he any closer to having his long-term future resolved? And will he decide to give one of his six new signings a home debut with Arsenal next to visit the KCOM Stadium.
