Pep Guardiola hopes striker Sergio Aguero signs a new contract with Manchester City.

Aguero's present deal expires in 2019 but it is anticipated it will be extended by a further season.

"I think he will extend but it is not official," said Guardiola.

"He is a good player. If he stays I will be so happy."

Aguero has scored nine goals already this season, including a hat-trick in the Champions League against Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday.

Guardiola also said midfielder David Silva is unlikely to recover from injury to play against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow.

In addition, the City manager said skipper Vincent Kompany was close to full fitness but would not be involved tomorrow.

Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan may play after making his first appearance for the club in midweek after recovering from a major knee injury.

"I am thinking about it for the last two days," said Guardiola. "He played well but we cannot forget where he has come from. I will speak to the doctor."

    BBC Three Counties Radio sport

Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri has dismissed suggestions of bad feeling between himself and Jose Mourinho ahead of his side’s meeting with Manchester United on Sunday.

The pair were rival managers in Italy when Mazzarri was at Sampdoria and then Napoli and Mourinho was at Inter.

“I have a very good relationship with Mourinho. Sometimes the press looks at what happened before in Italy but that is normal because when you fight for a top position it’s normal that sometimes you say a couple of things one to the other.

"But I have a good professional relationship with him; there’s professional respect.”

Paul Blake is one of the last GB athletes to start their Paralympic programme here in Rio and goes in the T36 400m final at 14:15 BST.

He won silver in the event at London 2012 and both the 2013 and 2015 World Championships but his main rival, Evgenii Shvetcov from Russia is not here so he has a great opportunity to win gold.

Blake, who will also go in Saturday's 800m, comes from a talented family - his dad, also called Paul, played the character Greedo in Star Wars while his mother Kate was a dancer with the Royal Ballet and his grandfather played tennis at Wimbledon.

Southampton v Swansea (Sunday, 14:15 BST)

    Southampton

Claude Puel has had a difficult start to life at Southampton - his side sit in the relegation zone after the first four games - but victory against Sparta Prague last night has got the Frenchman feeling positive.

"I think it was good for the players, they played a good game but it is just the first win and it is important now to continue," he said.

"I think this game was important for the confidence of the squad, I said yesterday it was important to show that Southampton have good players.

"We can see yesterday the quality of the players and it is okay for me to change the team because all the players have good spirit and good personality."

It's my first visit to the equestrian centre in the Deodoro region to the north of Rio since I visited early last year to check on the preparations and I LOVE what they've done with the venue!

The stands really help create a amphitheatre style setting compared to the 'open fields' feel the centre had last year.

There's already been six medals won by British riders this week here and today there's a strong possibility of five more!

    Geoff Doyle

Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri was full of praise for Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic today.

“Ibrahimovic is the type of player I call an eternal player, immortal player. Unfortunately I have played against him many times because he’s a great player who can make the difference on the pitch.

"He’s very complete as a player. We will try, and I will try, as we always do with the great players in front of us. We can try and limit their capabilities and qualities but it’s very difficult to stop them completely, but we will try for sure.”

Leicester v Burnley (Saturday, 15:00 BST)

    Leicester City

Claudio Ranieri and his Leicester side are in uncharted territory this weekend, coming off the back of a Champions League fixture in the week for the first time.

“For us everything is new, I want to see how my players respond," said Ranieri.

"They told me they are OK and they must show this on the pitch.

“Our first Champions League match was a good victory. I’m so pleased with our performance because after the Liverpool defeat I was expecting something."

Danny Simpson and Jeffrey Schlupp are ready to return to action for the visit of Burnley, with club record signing Islam Slimani fit for involvement, if not the full 90 minutes. Fellow summer signing Nampalys Mendy is still injured however.

But there was a magic moment for Jesus David de Marchena, who finished more than a minute behind the rest of the field and was whooped and cheered all the way to the finish by the Brazil crowd. Beautiful.

Pochettino is clearly still frustrated with how his team played against Monaco.

He described how when he came here as a manager he wanted to play in the Champions League - but his team lacked passion at Wembley on Wednesday night.

He said that they have to be more excited to play in the Champions League, but accepts they have time to change, and become more consistent.

However, he was also not happy with how his team played in the first half of what ended up being a 4-0 win at Stoke in their last league match - so it's fair to say he has a bit of a bee in his bonnet.

It's an overcast morning at the athletics stadium and there is some drizzly rain falling steadily from the grey skies - a sight we haven't seen too much at these Paralympics.

Some of the team involved in the television production of the Games are getting a photo taken trackside ahead of the start of the day's action at 14:00 BST.

From a GB perspective it's a quiet morning but it could still yield a gold through Paul Blake in the T36 400m while the heats of the men's 4x400m wheelchair relay also take place.

Pep Guardiola is on a little brink of history as Manchester City manager.

Guardiola has made a perfect start as manager, with seven wins from seven games.

Another triumph against Bournemouth on Saturday would complete the best start to a season in City’s entire history.

Not that anyone will remember the previous time City began a season with seven straight wins.

It was in 1897 – and the opposition included Gainsborough, Darwen and Loughborough.

City’s club record for wins in a row is 11, which straddled two seasons under Manuel Pellegrini from April 2015 to September

Wenger has confirmed that Petr Cech will return in goal against Hull, after sitting out in the Champions League to give David Ospina some game time, but Aaron Ramsey remains injured. Theo Walcott is a maybe at the moment.

He's also been talking about summer signing Granit Xhaka, saying that he sees the 23-year-old as a "box-to-box player".

"Xhaka is adapting to the pace of the English game, but he will play games," Wenger said.

"I think he will have a huge impact."
