  1. Hatton strugglingpublished at 21:13 BST 11 April

    Hatton -3 (8)

It's not happening for Tyrrell Hatton today.

He carded a 66 to move into contention yesterday, but he's had seven pars and a bogey and is nine shots off the lead.

The Englishman needs to go low on the back nine.

Lowry just needs a 147 and a 9 darter then he can tell us which one was harder!

    Christian in Sheffield

Love this question Christian, tough one to call - there's more luck involved in a hole-in-one that's for sure, while there's no margin for error with the other two and the 147 requires far more good shots. Let's hear your thoughts people....

  3. Morikawa on the movepublished at 21:10 BST 11 April

    Morikawa -4 (16)

What a putt that is from Collin Morikawa, who gets the read just right from around 18 feet on the 16th to claim a birdie.

That follows a stunning chip-in eagle from over the pond on the 15th.

  4. Postpublished at 21:08 BST 11 April

    McIlroy -12, Burns -8 (6)

    "Awww no."

That's another loose swing from McIlroy, this time at the par-three sixth where Shane Lowry had his ace 20 minutes ago, and he's short-sided himself on the left. That's a bad miss.

But he plays an exceptional pitch, bumping the ball into the fringe and leaving himself a five-footer which he pours in for the par. Great up-and-down.

Sam Burns' lengthy birdie putt just about makes it up the hill but he nonchalantly rolls in his par attempt. He is impressive on the greens.

  5. Birdie for Fleetwoodpublished at 21:07 BST 11 April

    Lowry -8, Fleetwood -5 (7)

That's more like it from Tommy Fleetwood, who clips into 15 feet on the seventh and then drains his birdie putt.

Shane Lowry is also putting for a three but leaves his effort short after coming back up the slope.

  6. Two parspublished at 21:04 BST 11 April

    Reed -7, Rose -6 (6)

Justin Rose has an outside chance for birdie at the sixth after a lovely tee shot, but he's not been in the sort of putting form that would make you think he could make it. And you'd be right.

Patrick Reed has just lost his radar on the greens as well these last few holes, he's some way away here but his lag putt leaves a lot to be desired and a lot of work to do, but this time he makes the par save.

That's the first par of an eventful round for the American so far.

  7. Birdie for Schefflerpublished at 21:02 BST 11 April

    Scheffler -7 (16)

Scottie Scheffler ends his four-hole drought without a birdie on the par-three 16th.

He whips his iron shot into 10 feet and all of a sudden is back in business. There are only five players above the world number one on the leaderboard now.

    McIlroy -12 (5)

    Trish Johnson

If McIlroy shoots two or three under today, he’ll be very happy. If the others have a fantastic day, it’s really hard to then back it up again with another fantastic day on Sunday.

But if Rory shoots two under today, it is much easier for him to go out and shoot a number tomorrow.

  9. An eagle for Li!published at 20:58 BST 11 April

    Li -9 (5)

Wonderful effort from Li Haotong on the eighth hole as he absolutely hammers a fairway wood for his second shot up the hill - and he just loves it as he mutters "be the number" while it's in the air.

And it is the number as the ball lands and rolls down towards the hill, not a million miles from going in, but close enough for a tap-in eagle.

He's now into second spot, three off Rory McIlroy.

  10. So close for Rorypublished at 20:57 BST 11 April

    McIlroy -12, Burns -8 (5)

Rory McIlroy absolutely smokes his drive at the fifth and has just a gap wedge from 148 yards...at a 495-yard hole, by the way.

The wedge won't be appearing in any highlight reel, however, as it lands around 25 feet long of the pin.

It's not the most difficult putt Augusta will give you, though, and it just shaves the left edge! Just a par, but he's steadied the ship a bit.

Sam Burns, who by comparison hit a four-iron into the green, putts from the higher level and it's carrying a lot of speed.

But the four footer coming back is no problem and on they go.

  11. Scheffler left frustrated on 15thpublished at 20:54 BST 11 April

    Scheffler -6 (15)

Scottie Scheffler isn't happy. He's just lost a bit of his earlier momementum and is struggling to make further inroads at the top of the leaderboard.

Putting for birdie on the 15th from just off the green, his ball wriggles down towards the hole and looks for all the world like it's going to drop before putting the brakes on an inch from the cup.

  12. Back-to-back bogeys for Reedpublished at 20:54 BST 11 April

    Reed -7, Rose -6 (5)

The air seems to have come out of Patrick Reed's tyres as he's followed a hat-trick of birdies with consecutive bogeys to fall back to seven under.

He missed the fifth green to the right and for once his chipping wasn't good enough to knock it stone dead. It was close enough to expect Reed to make it but he missed again from around the six foot range to let another stroke go.

  13. Bogey for Fleetwoodpublished at 20:49 BST 11 April

    Lowry -8, Fleetwood -4 (6)

Very much a case of after the Lord Mayor's show for Tommy Fleetwood on the sixth.

Unlike his playing partner who picks his ball out of the cup following an ace, the Englishman bounces through the green into the patrons and can't get up and down to save his par.

  14. Gutsy sand save for McIlroypublished at 20:45 BST 11 April

    McIlroy -12, Burns -8 (4)

McIlroy tries to draw one down the hill at the 233-yard par-three. But he's tugged that badly and it splashes into the bunker.

He needs to feed it off the slope. It's a decent effort, but it's another testing par putt for the leader.

Another big putt....but he drains it! Great save.

Sam Burns found the front-left edge of the green and has a birdie try, but it comes up shy and he settles for a three.

  15. Hole in one for Lowrypublished at 20:42 BST 11 April

    Lowry -8 (6)

Does anyone make more holes in one than Shane Lowry? The Irishman celebrates wildy after a superb ace on the par-three sixth.

The 39-year-old is the first player in Masters history with multiple career holes-in-one having also managed one back in 2016 at the 16th.

  17. Bogey for Reedpublished at 20:36 BST 11 April

    Reed -8, Rose -6 (4)

Patrick Reed can't match Justin Rose's short game skills as he found the front bunker off the tee, played a nice escape to around seven feet but missed the par putt.

Reed drops back to eight under in a quick two-shot swing in favour of Rory McIlroy.

  18. Postpublished at 20:35 BST 11 April

    Scheffler -6 (14)

"No" shouts Scottie Scheffler as his approach from just off the fairway at the 14th catches the ridge in the middle of the green.

Instead of running back his ball shifts on a yard and trickles in towards the flag.

Can he take advantage of that break? No. His putt from 10 feet grazes the left edge of the cup and slips past.

  19. Wow!published at 20:34 BST 11 April

    Reed -9, Rose -6 (4)

Justin Rose on day three of The Masters 2026Image source, Getty Images

Justin Rose! He's almost holed out with a chip shot that would have challenged Tiger Woods' famous effort around here.

He's on a steep downslope miles off the right side of the fourth green but my word he's played this amazingly well, punching it into the ground and running it right along the green and catching the slope back down towards the hole.

It just burns the left edge as well but he'll take that from there - that's an 11/10 effort from that spot as he taps it in for a par.

  20. 'McIlroy will be OK, touch wood'published at 20:32 BST 11 April

    McIlroy -12 (3)

    Trish Johnson
Former Europe Solheim Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live

With McIlroy’s game, the way he’s playing, he’s going to make five or six birdies.

Touch wood, so long as he doesn’t make any doubles, he’ll be OK.
