Alex Noren goes back-to-back with birdies on 14 and 15 - the second of which ceoms via a chip in from off the green that he really had to have a stab at.

All of a sudden Noren is just one off the lead - and with such a tightly packed leaderboard is shows that anyone can make a big move pretty quickly.

As quickly as Jon Rahm joined the leaders, a bogey on the par-three 17th means he drops off the top of the leaderboard.

A tee shot just off line to the right of the green ends up being his undoing.

Scottie Scheffler has just five feet for a birdie on the 10th, but this time the putter lets him down and he misses the chance to strike the front on his own.

We just said about all parts of his game starting to warm up - but that putter is always the one big worry with Scheffler.

Make it four men now at the top of the leaderboard!

Jon Rahm has had a lot of stick since he went to LIV but I think he's finished top 10 in every event over there. He is playing good quality golf but just hasn't excelled at majors.

That is hard to do. There are only four each year and it's tough with the little bit of extra pressure that comes with coming over from LIV.

I think he's definitely got a point to prove. He's been playing nicely this week. Started off slowly but worked his way right to the top.

He's now gone on a hot streak to take advantage of those scoreable holes before the final two.

Jhonattan Vegas looks frustrated as his birdie putt on the ninth turns and pulls up a few inches from the cup.

Did he not watch Matt Fitzpatrick's effort a minute earlier? It did exactly the same meaning the Englishman and Venezuelan can compare notes on slightly under hitting putts.

Still they fare better than Matthieu Pavon, with the Frenchman running his approach onto the back fringe and failing to get down from there in two to save par.

If you believe in golfing karma, Scottie Scheffler's just had a dose as he nailed a fairway wood bang at the flag on the 10th, but the ball took a horrible bounce just short of the green, not only killing all the momentum but sliding it off to the right of the putting surface as well.

You'd say that's awful luck, but just a couple of holes ago he slaiced a drive into the trees and it bounced back out - so swings and roundabouts....

No mistake from tap-in range by Spain's Jon Rahm, who joins Scottie Scheffler and Jhonattan Vegas at the top of the leaderboard on seven under.

Three birdies in a row for the two-time major winner.

Cam Davis was up near the top of the leaderboard on Thursday before slipping down the standings on Friday.

However, he is right back in the mix despite carding three bogeys on the front nine. A birdie at the 13th was followed by one on the 14th and a chip-in eagle on the 15th from 58 yards.

Remarkable stuff from the 30-year-old Australian.

Viktor Hovland has hit reverse on the back nine as he's bogeyed the 15th to slide back down to just one over, having also dropped a shot on the 12th.

That's not the run you want to be on heading into the Green Mile

Fine chip out of the sand at the 14th sets Davis Riley up for an easy birdie and suddenly the American joins the group at six under par.

Like Bryson DeChambeau, he is three under for his round and making some noise on the leaderboard on moving day.

Jon Rahm - take a bow.

A dream of an approach to the 16th, one of the toughest holes on the golf course, leaves him less than three feet for birdie.

Three birdies and a bogey for Scottie Scheffler in his front nine, which he played in two under to get to seven and hold a share of the lead.

And it just seems like he's warming up nicely - his irons seem crisper, his driving looks straighter and his putter is warming up.

Don't forget as well, he's never played an individual tournament here, with Scheffler's only appearance at Quail Hollow coming in the Presidents Cup team event.

Kim Si-woo plays a bit of army golf on the ninth, going left-right from the trees to the rough and having to chip back onto the green leaving 17 feet for par.

He can't make it so drops out of the lead and back to six under - one behind Scottie Scheffler who just misses with his long birdie attempt.

Max Homa also makes a bogey to hand the shot he picked up on the previous hole right back to the course.

Ryo Hisatsune has his hand on his hips after almost letting his wedge fall out of his hands on to the fairway.

There is not a great deal to like about his approach to the 12th that drifts right and gives him a difficult up and down to save his par.

He just about manages that but then coughs up a shot on the par-three 1th with a total mis-read on the green.

Great shot. Jhonattan Vegas drives the eighth and will have two putts to regain the outright lead at eight under.

Matt Fitzpatrick finds the left rough from the tee box and looks to have a terrible lie. His chip suggests as much with his ball well short of the pace needed to carry it down towards the flag.

The Englishman overcorrects with his putter sliding five feet past before draining his ball for par.

Meanwhile, Vegas looks disgusted with himself after missing a three footer for birdie.

A 10-footer for birdie on 15 for Jon Rahm - makes it!

That could have gone absolutely anywhere.

That is a huge break for the Scottie Scheffler.

Big fore shout as Scottie Scheffler carves his tee shot on eight into the trees on the right, his ball gets a huge lucky bounce back out onto the course.

From there he chips up onto the green and has nine feet for an outrageous birdie, which he misses and 'settles' for par as from the tee shot any kind of number could've been on the table.

Max Homa does get a birdie though after a great drive just off the green followed by a tidy chip to leave an easy putt for a three.

Bryson DeChambeau crunches a drive 366 yards down the 12th fairway. I think it carried about 365 yards and bobbled forward a couple of inches.

It leaves him about 80 yards to the green but his approach is a poor one, about 50 feet from the cup.

A superb lag putt to the holeside but it's only a par for Bryson, who remains without a dropped shot on his card today.
