Alex Noren led the UA PGA on his own for about five minutes as Scottie Scheffler taps in from two feet to complete his stunning eagle on 14.

Still trying to figure out that tee shot from Scottie, what a tremendous effort that was, shame it didn't go in though, you don't get to see an albatross very often.

Alex Noren finishes with a final flourish with yet another birdie on 18 to cap a stunning round that's put him in the lead on his own at eight under par.

Noren finished his round today with four birdies in his final five holes - including 17 and 18 as two of the hardest on the course.

Seven birdies overall in a round of 66 which has catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard. Magic stuff from the Swede.

We talked about Scottie Scheffler's bounce back abilities earlier, well I think even I undersold them - as this comeback is like Tyson Fury getting up off the canvas in his first fight with Deontay Wilder!

The par-four 14th hole is 304 yards today, and the world number one has smoked his tee shot and almost holed it! So close to the very rarest of birds on the golf course - the albatross (or double eagle as some people wrongly call it).

After finding the drink, Bryson DeChambeau has a bogey putt from about 25 feet and, while the pace is good, it's never threatening the hole.

Three dropped shots in two holes for the previously buoyant American.

Jhonattan Vegas with the soft hands on the 12th with a lovely little chip to allow a tap in for par.

In contrast, Matt Fitzpatrick can't believe his putt doesn't turn from right to left. He gets the pace just right but it stays straight and he also takes a four.

The whind seems to be whipping up a bit more now around Quail Hollow, as Scottie Scheffler misses the green on the par-three 13th.

The flag is flapping about wildly as he hacks out of the bunker, but only to 20 feet and he needs two putts from there to drop out of the lead.

Playing partner Kim Si-woo plays it much better though and picks up a birdie to join Scheffler on six under.

One mistake begets another and Bryson DeChambeau has his hands up in horror at the par-three 17th.

He's got that swirling shot into the green horribly wrong and his ball has flung over and ended up in the water.

Two big errors in two holes and suddenly DeChambeau is unravelling.

And just like that, Alex Noren joins the group of leaders on seven under thanks to a super tee shot on 17 that leaves him eight feet for birdie, which he gobbles up.

That's three birdies in four holes now for Noren and shows what a quick run can do to the leaderboard when it's so tight between so many players.

Bryson DeChambeau's ball is actually just kissed up against the fringe surrounding the green so he decides to chip it on and it's good touch from the leader.

However, he can't back it up with the putter as his effort bumps off the cup and slides away.

A blink.

Onto the treacherous Green Mile for our leader, the gnarly final three holes that are playing as the three toughest on the course, in reverse order.

First up for Bryson DeChambeau is the third hardest hole today, the 16th and he's in the rough but scoots it out and onto the green.

A lengthy two-putt awaits but par will always be good here.

Scottie Scheffler is a golfing Weeble - every time tou knock him he bounces right back time after time. He shows it again by dismantling the 12th, with a long, straight drive, an iron crunched as pure as the driven snow and a nine-foot putt for a three.

Game back on.

Oh my word, how close is that? It feels like Matt Fitzpatrick is due to see a long birdie putt drop but a 50 footer on the 11th green is just a smidgen right.

Jon Rahm has an outside chance of finishing with a birdie on the last but his long putt doesn't trouble the hole.

A par to finish, meaning the Spaniard goes round in 67. All three of his rounds have been under par at this championship, following back-to-back 70s on Thursday and Friday.

He'll be well in the mix on Sunday as he bids for a third major title.

Bryson DeChambeau is whipping up the crowd at Quail Hollow, who cheer wildly as he walks off the 15th green.

He's bang up for this.

Ooof, Bryson DeChambeau also holes his bunker shot from in front of the 15th green for an eagle.

But a birdie putt from four feet is sufficient to take the 31-year-old American into the lead on his own for the first time today.

He's five under for the day, with just the fabled "Green Mile" to come in his third round.

Dropped shot for Scottie Scheffler on 11 as his first missed fairway leads to a disappointing bogey that takes him out of the lead.

He's way left in the rough, then short of the green and his attempt right up the putting surface just leaves him on the fringe 18 feet away - so it's a bogey that will really sting after missing a couple of short birdies chances the last two holes.

Kim Si-woo also drops a shot here despite finding the middle of the fairway, as he missed the green then plays a dodgy chip so drops back to five under.

And it's even worse for Max Homa with a double bogey there dropping him right out of the picture.

Here comes Keegan.

The USA's Ryder Cup captain continues to showcase his own game and he's certainly in this tournament after a three-under 68 sets a clubhouse lead at five under.

Jon Rahm will probably overtake him shortly but the 2011 champion firmly believes he has a shout this weekend.

And so he should.

Rory McIlroy has something to cheer with a 15-footer for birdie on the second, his 11th hole of the day.

It gets him back to level par for the day.

Back-to-back birdies for America's Davis Riley has catapulted him into a share of the lead.

A very tidy round from the 28-year-old and he's making a claim to be in the final group on Sunday.

Matthieu Pavon comfortably reaches the 606-yard par-five 10th in two. And will have a mid-range putt for eagle...which slides just past but stays in gimme range.

Meanwhile, Fitzy flies through but then produces a wonderful chip to give himself a look at birdie from two feet or so. He does not miss them.

Only a par for Jhonattan Vegas mind.
