Saints fan supporting Pompey tonight. Brother-in-law a Pompey fan supporting Saints. We have a deal until end of the season. Painful but hopefully rewarding

    Portsmouth 2-0 Ipswich

Ipswich do go to their bench.

Jaden Philogene and Anis Mehmeti are chucked on by Kieran McKenna along with Ben Johnson.

Off come Azor Matusiwa, Kasey McAteer and Darnell Furlong.

They are very attacking changes, mind you, they have to be.

If you are Tonda Eckert you just want to stay in control, get a third and then be free to manage your squad for the rest of the game.

    Portsmouth 2-0 Ipswich Town

    Dan George
    BBC Sport at Fratton Park

This second half has started the just way the first finished, with Portsmouth surging forward in wave after wave of attack, and really looking like they can score a third in this game.

Ipswich look a little out of ideas at the moment, but you do feel with the quality they have that could change at any moment.

Could be the slightest possibility that Ipswich have been distracted by speculation linking McKenna to Bournemouth earlier today?

    Alex, Bournemouth

It is a good shout, Alex. All we would say is that players do tend to insulate themselves from that sort of thing. Not sure it would impact preparations too much. They do look flat, though...

    Portsmouth 2-0 Ipswich

Ipswich are all over the shop at the back.

Adrian Segecic gets to the byline and cuts the ball back where Colby Bishop's shot is blocked by a sliding defender.

A third Portsmouth goal is looking more likely at the moment.

As a West Brom fan, I’m nervously watching tonight’s proceedings through my fingers and thinking about the implications of a potential points deduction. Worry times.

How long before Ipswich bring on the cavalry?

Jaden Philogene, Chuba Akpom, Ivan Azon and Anis Mehmeti are all waiting on the bench.

Blackburn have started the second half better as they go in search of a goal.

They have a bit more of an attacking edge about them after their subs and change of shape.

Another one of those balls into the box that could have gone anywhere.

Very similar to our second goal, but fortunately for Ipswich it landed kindly for Walton.

Portsmouth are putting the pressure on.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 21:07 BST 14 April

    Southampton 2-0 Blackburn

Blackburn make a couple of changes at the break.

On come Japanese duo Ryoya Morishita and Yuki Ohashi for Ryan Alebiosu and former Southampton man Nathan Redmond whose debut comes to an end.

Southampton also make a change with James Bree making way for Nathan Wood.

    Portsmouth 2-0 Ipswich

An early scare in the second-half for Ipswich who cannot afford to concede a third goal.

A ball into their area arrives onto the head of Colby Bishop but although he cannot direct a header on goal it ricochets around the area before the visitors eventually deal with it.

Ipswich's players were out a good four minutes before Portsmouth.

A sharp few words from Kieran McKenna and sent out with a flea in their ears.

It felt a bit flat from the Suffolk side in that opening half - too much celebrating after that win at Norwich on Saturday?

    Championship

We may only have two games but the Championship is rocking and rolling.

I wonder how many supporters of other clubs not involved we have with us tonight?

Hit the thumbs up if you're an interested spectator with skin in this evening's events.

We are back at it in both our matches - a huge 45 minutes on the way.

Portsmouth are doing themselves and their neighbours Southampton a huge favour at the moment.

Those two Pompey goals against Ipswich will have been daggers to the hearts of their relegation rivals while the Suffolk side's fellow promotion hopefuls may be wearing wide smiles for now with Saints beating Blackburn.

Elsewhere in the division, Wrexham now have a four-point gap to bridge but boss Phil Parkinson has won himself another honour in north Wales.

For three promotions and helping to reinvigorate not only the football club but the town of Wrexham, Parkinson has been awarded the freedom of Wrexham County Borough.

The 58-year-old received the award at Wrexham's Guildhall and joins the club's owners, Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, who were awarded the freedom of Wrexham in 2022.

"It's a great indication of the impact a football club can have on the community and that's been recognised with the honour I've received," said the former Colchester, Charlton, Bradford and Bolton boss.

Could there still be room for one more trophy on the Parkinson family mantelpiece before the summer?

The end of that half was very, very difficult for Ipswich.

They did start the game well, but as it went on Portsmouth grew into it.
