  1. 'We need to re-balance our squad'published at 22:26 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo to Sky Sports on home fans booing when striker Callum Wilson was replaced by winger Crysencio Summerville...

"Our fans know very well the team, that's why they have opinions and rightly so.

"I wish I could play with strikers 90 minutes, all of my career I have tried. Let's see if we can bring [a new striker in] because it's really necessary for us to have more options in the striker position. We need more.

"I don't want questions, I want action, and the club is working for that I hope. We need it, everybody is aware of our situation, we need to re-balance our squad so we can be stronger and compete better."

  2. 'Massive win - there was a lot of pressure on us'published at 22:24 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Burnley 1-3 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a massive win for us. We knew we needed to win. There was a lot of pressure on us. Good pressure though, pressure that shows the team what it is capable of.

"It takes a little bit of scrutiny off us and we need to use that now as a positive and we now need to try and get on a run. We know we can do better - this first half of the season has been a big challenge for us.

"We knew with the summer that we had it wasn't plain sailing and an easy few months for us. I think that had an impact and affected our early form.

"Our general performances have been better over the last seven or eight games. I think we are moving in the right direction and today is another step in the right direction forward.

"Great start by us but we were tested in the second half. It was a big 45 minutes. Could we defend our lead? And we did - and we did it really well.

"It was nervy once they scored. They scored a really good goal - I thought it was a great finish - and put us under pressure. Nick (Pope) made massive save in the second half but after that save - which I though was a big moment - we played really well."

On Yoane Wissa: "He's done really well. His goal was typical Yoane - in the right place at the right time. He has got this goalscorers instinct and mentality. I thought he led the line really well. He was a physical presence and ran in behind and linked play."

  3. 'Lost to a great away performance'published at 22:23 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Everton

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche speaking to BBC Sport: "It was pretty much the ups and downs of my time here. In the matches where there's an expectation, we haven't really delivered.

"Credit to them, they defended really well, it was a great away performance. They're an experienced group, I know them well and they dealt with everything.

"The expectation changes thoughts. People play a bit safer, too many passes. You have to change the rhythm of the game. That's fine but don't lose the game if it's not your day to score. But it was two really soft goals we conceded today.

"I think there was a bit of frustration left over from the Manchester City game if there's a sense something has been taken out of your hands. There are still a lot of good things here but I think it was a naive performance compared to that of the Everton group.

"The story changes quickly. We have to stay consistent and stay in the the bandwidth between being not too high and not too low. Every game is a big week, I never get involved with all of that. We have to win these games - and certainly not lose them."

  4. 'Disappointing to concede two goals the same way'published at 22:22 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is not speaking to the television media after the game, with assistant coach Willy Caballero saying he is feeling unwell.

"He didn't feel well and the last couple of days," Caballero said.

"It is important for the players to have the manager there but he was dealing with some temperature and some kind of virus and today he asked me if I could do the press conference because he felt really bad.

"I feel what any supporter feels, that we missed the chance to win the three points. We had a good game with the ball, we created chances, we got the penalty and created a very good second goal.

"I think we put Bournemouth to defending in the box for many, many minutes but the final ball was missing today. It is something we need to find and improve.

"We work a lot, we trust a lot in our set-piece coach. We had been dealing with tough situations until today. We made changes, we made amendments to correct that but today the problem is it happened twice. That is the thing that is a little disappointing for us - to concede two goals in the same way.

"It is important what we achieved but in football it is normal, when you achieve something the desperation to win more is there. This club deserves to fight for more and many things. We are the first who want to win any game, we are not comfortable to equalise against Bournemouth here or away."

  5. 'Semenyo will play this weekend'published at 22:20 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola speaking to Sky Sports: "This is probably one point we would've taken before the game. Chelsea away is a difficult game. I do think we should be winning the first half because we played very well. I don't think finishing the first half at 2-2 was fair. We didn't have as many chances in the second half and we had to defend a little bit lower, but we did that well. I think the clearest chances tonight were for us. For me, we played better in the first half but also in the second half we defended well.

"The problem is that we were doing a lot of things to get one point against Chelsea and one point against Manchester United, which in the end doesn't give you a lot. We do have to value every point though because the standings are so close and every point is valuable.

"The penalty was a light touch. If the referee called it live against Estevao Willian then you could say: 'OK, there is a touch from Antoine [Semenyo]' but the contact was so light that I don't think VAR should intervene. I don't understand why they sometimes decide to intervene because you wouldn't call that penalty live. That moment went against us, so yes I think we were unlucky.

"We have drawn four of our last five games, one point doesn't give you a lot but we have been competitive. I hope we continue this because things don't get easier from here."

On whether that was the last time Antoine Semenyo will play in a Bournemouth shirt: "No, it's not. Yes, he will play this weekend."

  6. 'We didn't have the cutting edge'published at 22:19 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Everton

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche speaking to Sky Sports: "Credit to them, they defended excellently. You can't just play at one tempo, you have to penetrate but we didn't really do that and conceded two soft goals. There is a lot to do, we've had some big results but that is a reminder you can't just play for the sake of playing. We didn't have the cutting edge and they defended really well.

"[David] Moyes' teams are always organised. I've worked with their defenders. They are a hard team to break down and you have to find a way and we didn't. Tonight there was an expectation on us and we didn't deal with it. This club should have expectation, I have expectations of this club, and the players have to be able to deal with that.

"We dominated the game but you have to find the killer moments. There were pockets of good play but you have to find a way to open it up and I don't think we changed the tempo enough.

"They're a talented group but they're a bit green in the Premier League - you could see the experience levels in [Everton's] team."

  7. 'The referees must be clear'published at 22:18 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo to Sky Sports: "The fight was there from both teams, very intense game with a lot of things happening. The players of both teams were really committed and fighting.

"In terms of performance the first half was better, we had momentum and created problems. Second half we started well but after we condeded the final moments of the game were tough for us.

"When Brighton put Mitoma on the left he caused problems, Rutter too. It was about hanging in, trying to kill them on the counter-attack. Overall it was a tough games for both teams.

"In the situation we are in it requires calmness in certain moments which is difficult to achieve, but the players managed well."

On the penalty conceded by Lucas Paqueta: "We have to look at what happened in our box, I was talking to the referee because there are a lot of circumstances happening this season that many times they don't judge or whistle, so it's get confusing for the players. How excessive the contact can be or not.

"So many things happen in the box for referees to judge which is difficult. We arrive at a situation that it's difficult for players to judge how far they can go. I am disappointed to concede from a set piece because in that moment of the game we had it.

"The referees must be clear, we had a meeting with PGMOL at the start of the season. Now at half way they should do it again to speak with the players."

Been a staunch Amorim defender but I’m absolutely fuming that he’s gone 4 at the back against Newcastle, done a full interview and articles about how he’s gonna change to a back 4 now, and then he trots out a back 5 and we look awful

  9. 'United have to win that by at least one clear goal'published at 22:16 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Wolves

    Dion Dublin
Former Aston Villa and Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wolves did stand strong tonight with a very good performance but at home, at Old Trafford, I expect United to win that game by at least one clear goal, maybe two.

With the performances we have seen from Wolves, you have to take them back to that place where they think they're not going to win, and then you can win by a few goals. But, United didn't take them there.

  10. 'One of the better results since my return to Everton'published at 22:15 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager David Moyes speaking to BBC Sport: "Not only this season but I think one of the better results we've had since I've come into the job because of how depleted we are.

"We didn't have enough senior players on the bench to make too many changes. I thought Nottingham Forest played well, but we defended well and took our moments when we got them.

"We didn't play particularly well against Burnley but today we did. I always saw tonight being a really difficult game. Forest played really well against Manchester City at the weekend and they were unlucky not to take some points."

On the performance of midfielder James Garner: "He was fantastic tonight, he really was. Coming back to his old club, I thought he played really well - but he has for a while. He's playing so well for us and he's taken on a bit more responsibility, a bit more of the leadership, so he's really matured."

On striker Thierno Barry's goal: "You should see my relief when he scored as well! He's getting better, doing a lot of things we like. We hope he can keep getting the goals."

And on looking up the table: "We'd like to get ourselves in there [near the European places], maybe later in the season. We need to try and keep pushing on but we need to get some key players back because that will be too difficult to do without them."

    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Wolves

Manchester United are without key players because of Afcon and injury.

But questions will be asked of Ruben Amorim after that one. A poor performance from his side after he decided to revert to a back three, despite success with the back four last time out against Newcastle.
