The football was breath-taking, starts in their own half and once it gets to Jesus he just bends it around Martinez and into the far corner. He is a proper centre forward.

It's good counter-attacking football from Wolves, they really fancy this.

The ball comes over and Jackson Tchatchoua puts the burners on to get there, he slides it across for Jhon Arias but his effort is blocked and ends up wide of the post.

Villa were always going to be well up against it away from home given their injuries, and the size/value of Arsenal's squad. But when you also have decisions like not giving a second yellow to Merino how are they supposed to compete?

  14. 'We are young, but we need to be more mature'published at 21:49 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth

    Chelsea

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a tough game, a difficult game. We tried to give everything but when you concede two goals in that manner, it makes things complicated at this level. We just didn't see the game out in the second half, we were making chances but didn't score so it was difficult. But we played well tonight, we were solid even though we conceded two goals. We need to continue like this and I hope the future is good.

"We conceded the two goals in the same way, on a first touch and a first ball. It isn't just one player's fault, it is everyone that needs to do better. We need to analyse what happened and progress from that. We need to learn to kill games. We need to learn to score when we have the chance. We do try everything though and sometimes it is just a bit like this."

On whether this was a missed opportunity for points: "Of course. When we don't win, we miss an opportunity. We take one point tonight, which is difficult. We need to progress in January for sure and win more games. This season isn't finished so we need to continue working on us, that's it. We are close to the team we want to be, we are just missing some small details. Of course we are young, but we need to be more mature."

  15. 'We support Welbeck'published at 21:49 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler to BBC Match of the Day: "A good performance, but in the end not a result we can be happy with. In some moments we missed some quality, in some moments we had a lack of luck. That's why it was 2-2."

On Danny Welbeck's penalty miss: "I don't need to speak to him. He makes the decisions and we support him. If he scores, everyone says 'what a great penalty'. As a striker you always have to make decisions and he did so many good decisions. Therefore we keep pushing.

"We have proved we are capable. We have the belief in our quality and ourself. Small margins are missing but we keep pushing and I'm sure we'll be back to getting on the winning track."

  17. 'I'm really pleased to score'published at 21:48 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Burnley 1-3 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle forward Yoane Wissa, speaking to Sky Sports: "We needed this win - especially away from home. I'm really pleased with the win tonight. Away from home there's been a lack of confidence, a lack of wins. Today we've just seen how hard it is. It's a top performance today, especially defensively.

"I think Burnley played a top game so give credit to them. We've shown the character and mentality to win.

"I'm really pleased with my goal. Now we have so many choices. I'm happy I've scored. Now we're looking forward to Crystal Palace (on Sunday)."

  19. Welbeck Panenka was 'right idea'published at 21:48 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler to Sky Sports: "I think there were two times in front of our goal and two times they shot in front of our goal. We had a really good start but their goal broke our rhythm. We had a chance to lead, but yeah. And no one understands the decision for the handball penalty. VAR footage is inconclusive, therefore no one understands it.

"We tried again in the second half but couldn't find a third goal."

On West Ham's penalty: "No one has clear footage of it. I can't understand how you can make a decision. That is not possible in the best league in the world."

On Danny Welbeck's Panenka penalty that was missed: "Right decision to take it. I think the idea is the right one. In the end if he executes it well everyone says brilliant. Some will say why is he shooting like this, but he has my full support."

On Yankuba Minteh picking up an injury: "We need to have a scan, then we will see."
