    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Everton

Everton have made the brighter start to this one, controlling possession and territory in the opening stages.

The ever-alert Elliot Anderson disrupts their latest move as he closes down quickly and forces the Toffees back into their own half, but it's not long before Everton head back up the pitch to earn their first corner.

Smart move by Brighton who burst forward down the left and Maxim De Cuyper curls in a beautiful cross for Danny Welbeck who nods the ball down but Alphonse Areola deals with the danger with a diving save.

As a centre forward you have to commit to attacking an area of the box, and that is exactly what Joelinton has done.

    David Brooks (six mins)

The visitors take an early lead!

It is poor defending from Chelsea as David Brooks is unchallenged to meet a ball into the box, his header is initially saved by Robert Sanchez but the loose ball falls kindly for Brooks and he prods in.

A lovely finish from Joelinton. Just instinct.

It's very rare that when you are playing against Walker that you will get chances down his side, but Gordon just got a yard on him there.

That really was a lovely finish by Joelinton on what is the Brazilian's 200th appearance in the Premier League.

The assist by Anthony Gordon came after he got the better of Kyle Walker to get the cross into the box.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:35 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 0-0 Bournemouth

Today is the last day that five yellow cards will bring a suspension and Moises Caicedo has just committed a needless foul four minutes in that not only means he has a suspension incoming, but is now walking on thin ice for the remaining 86 minutes.

In my opinion Villa are in the title conversation. They have to be. They are the talk of the town at the moment, and it's down to the manager.

The way he sets them up for certain games, he just has a knack. It's a great fit, Emery and Villa.

    Talk about fast starts!

65 seconds on the clock and Joelinton produces a lovely first time finish after connecting with Anthony Gordon's stylish cross into the box.

A disastrous start for the relegation-threated hosts.

    Ellen White
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Villa might thrive being in the conversation and the pressure of it.

There have been a number of games where they have had to come from behind and Unai Emery has had to make a few tweaks and has built the experience in the squad of rolling up their sleeves.

They haven't performed as well as they would like but they are picking up the points.

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Everton

Jack Grealish is sat among the Everton substitutes with a snood covering his nose and mouth. Not sure whether that's to protect himself from the cold, or his team-mates from the virus he is still struggling with. Perhaps it's both.

It's a clear, crisp night by the River Trent. James Garner tries to ignite Everton's evening but fires a speculative effort well over.

  13. Semenyo said to have been professional as he nears City movepublished at 19:31 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 0-0 Bournemouth

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

The talk around Antoine Semenyo is that he has been extremely professional despite his incoming move to Manchester City being the worst kept secret in football.

The Bournemouth winger has impressed officials with not letting the situation affect him and there was no hesitation in selecting him.

Semenyo is described as a normal, friendly personality who gets on with the entire dressing room and this could well be his last performance for the club at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Cherries are fighting to keep hold of him for at least a few more games as they line up a replacement.

    Chelsea v Bournemouth (19:30 GMT)

    Nizaar Kinsella

Both teams need a win after a difficult winter.

Chelsea have managed just one Premier League victory in December, while Bournemouth are winless in nine games.

Each side might see this as a good time to face the other, but in front of their own fans Chelsea cannot afford any slip-ups, especially after losing to Aston Villa three days ago.

Arsenal v Aston Villa (20:15 GMT)

    Statman Dave

The crazy thing is that Rice has only missed three games in the Premier League in the three seasons that he has been at Arsenal. They have won two and drawn one, but that doesn't paint a picture.

What does is how available he's been. He's got the most minutes of any Arsenal player since he joined the club. That's the impact of Rice.

Morgan Rogers is playing with confidence, which is down to the manager Unai Emery. There was a lot of talk at the start of the season about his head being turned, the fans were on his back and Emery could have easily left him out but no, he let him get on with it and ever since he has shone.

I didn't know he was as good as we've seen recently, he's been outstanding. He's a top, top player.

I was about to say what an atmosphere here at the Emirates, but it's been dashed in the last few minutes with confirmation of the big team news, Arsenal are without Declan Rice.

He misses out through injury. A huge, huge blow.
