    Chelsea 0-0 Pafos

Chelsea have the ball in the back of the net as Enzo Fernandez nods in but it is swiftly ruled out for a push by Fernandez as he leapt for it. He's furious at the decision.

Joe Gomez ups the pace with a ball through the lines for Alexis Mac Allister. He turns and finds Hugo Ekitike to the left of the box. There's a small penalty appeal but the referee is having none of that.

What the hell am I watching… Chelsea trying to play Rosenior-ball down the middle of the pitch is like watching paint dry!

    Chelsea 0-0 Pafos

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior picked a strong starting XI for this one and his side are dominating possession early on.

It's no real surprise given Cypriot side Pafos have never played at this level, ever faced English opposition and are worth £26.2m as a collective group.

For comparison, Chelsea's squad is worth just over £1bn and only one of their starters alone (Filip Jorgensen) was signed for less than the total value attributed to their squad.

    Much better from Chelsea!

Enzo Fernández drives into the box before laying the ball off for Reece James, who bends a shot millimetres wide of the post.

    Chelsea 0-0 Pafos

Pafos are happy sitting back in their low block so Chelsea need to stay patient and not get frustrated in their attempt to create chances.

Reece James swings the ball in towards the far post, but just puts a bit too much on it and behind it goes for a goal kick.

There's not much snap in the Liverpool press tonight. Both sides look happy for the other to have the ball at the back in these opening stages.

That was the right centre-back trying to get on the end of a cross there. That's what De Zerbi does - he likes to go and attack in real big numbers.

  9. Mistakes led to Marseille chancespublished at 20:15 GMT 21 January

    Marseille 0-0 Liverpool

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Liverpool have made two mistakes so far, both from players - Gomez and Gravenberch - missing headers. Other than that they have looked well organised defensively.

You can hear more from Warnock on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 GMT on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

The ball is sent over the top for Mo Salah but he needs an extra few inches on his legs to control that.

Needs to be a better ball into him.

    Slavia Prague take the lead!

It comes from a corner with the ball flicked on at the near post by Tomas Holes and Vasil Kusej is there at the back stick to - somehow - bundle it over the line.

It's not so much a shot as making sure some part of his body, I think it was the shin in the end, connected with the ball just half a yard out.

  12. A huge goal for Newcastlepublished at 20:13 GMT 21 January

    Newcastle 1-0 PSV

    Ciaran Kelly
BBC Sport reporter at St James' Park

What a moment that is for Yoane Wissa – and Newcastle United.

The forward has quickly put the hosts ahead at St James’ Park on his first ever Champions League start.

The noise inside the stadium has gone up another octave - not least after that VAR check went their way.

"Is this the way to Barcelona?" supporters sing, "Bayern Munich, Lazio, Roma? Geordie boys are taking over. Champions League awaits for me."

They are a step closer to clinching a play-off spot - but a long way to go in this one, of course.

Credit Pafos who are doing a good job here of standing up to Chelsea. They are really nullifying the hosts' attacking threat.

    Newcastle 1-0 PSV

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at the St James' Park

When Newcastle got into midfield, they had an advantage. Very impressed with Joelinton, thought he was going for a shot, played the intelligent ball, and Wissa had nothing more than a tap-in. Eddie Howe has got the look of a man who saw that one coming. You look at PSV players and all their shoulders as if there plans have been taken apart already.

  17. Postpublished at 20:11 GMT 21 January

    Marseille 0-0 Liverpool

Florian Wirtz slips a lovely ball through for Jeremie Frimpong but there's way too much on the ball. Marseille look to break forward with Mason Greenwood but his cross is hooked clear by Virgil van Dijk.

  18. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 20:11 GMT 21 January

    Newcastle 1-0 PSV

There's a VAR check for offside because in an earlier phase of the move Yoane Wissa was in an offside position, but not when the ball came to him. The referee goes to the screen but swiftly determines that the goal stands.

  19. Postpublished at 20:10 GMT 21 January

Big chance for Barcelona to take the lead in Prague but Fermin Lopez blazes over the bar when well placed inside the penalty area.

    Marseille 0-0 Liverpool

    Charlie Adam
Former Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Marseille good start, positive. They go long in the first action and get a throw in. But looking at De Zerbi from when he was at Brighton and that build-up style - looking to pick players off, go man for man and be aggressive.
