Fed up with criticism of Arne Slot. Liverpool have had a lot of bad luck as well as tragedy this year. Look at Manchester City/United as well as Arsenal, all had their share of ups and downs. Give Arne a bit of slack and wish Liverpool well for next season.

  2. 'Looking forward' to next seasonpublished at 14:04 BST 8 May

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on whether next season will be another year of transition: "I'm only looking forward to it so I'm not worried at all. As I looked forward to working with these players two years ago and one year ago, to look forward to the players I am working with now.

"As a manager you're never worried, you're just looking forward to working with players. There will probably be another little transition but not as drastic as last summer. We have to change personnel because of the two players who are leaving. One player probably replaced by Kostas Tsimikas who is coming back off loan. I am only looking forward to starting again next season."

It seems like Slot will be in charge of Liverpool next season, he has a summer to fix it, but my big fear as a fan is we continue like we have been playing, dropping points, and the board sack him too late, potentially wasting yet another season.

    Jack, Stirling

Liverpool barely have one foot in the door to qualify for the champions league. It simply isn't good enough and we're not starting the people that should actually be on the pitch, such as Ngumoha.

    Sam, Burnley

Liverpool have had troubles this season. But a lot isn't bad luck. Training dropped so that must cause injuries. Also poor tactics, team setup and in game management has been a fact. Sorry but Arne Slot is to blame for a lot of that.

  4. 'Mentality has nothing to do with age'published at 13:59 BST 8 May

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on team bonding: "When it comes to bonding it makes sense players who have had six, seve, eight years playing together have more bonding than players that are new with each other.

"When it comes to mentality, this team has shown many times the mentality to come back into the game [last week]. When we were at 2-2 we deserved to get a third goal but we didn't get.

On mentality: "For me mentality has nothing to do with age. When Mo was 26 and these players were in their prime they were able to win the Champions League and the Premier League, to pick up 99 points. Recently we have quite good example of players who aren't that old but have the standards to win a game of football, in terms of attacking with 11 and defending with 11. For me, mentality has absolutely nothing to do with age.

"It's more about the personality of the player. Of course you can inject it in the transfer market but we have a lot of players who have the right mentality to play for this club."

  5. 'Something we will address in the summer'published at 13:54 BST 8 May

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on his side being vulnerable on counter-attacks: "In moments we have been vulnerable at counter-attacks. Not like we've conceded eight or 10 or six. At Manchester we conceded two.

"But I don't think that's the only thing we've been vulnerable at. There are too many things we have been vulnerable in moments, but it would help if we scored more goals. Controlling a game from a 2-0 lead is easier than being 1-0 down, 1-1 or 2-2.It is a mix of everything. It's very clear and obvious where we have to improve, it is what we have tried to achieve over the season, it has not always worked. It is something we will address in the summer."

  7. 'These players are used to winning'published at 13:48 BST 8 May

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on players' lack of belief because of things going wrong: "It always weighs heavy on players if you lose more games than you would want, especially at a club like this. These players are used to winning. The moment these players start to lose, that is never a nice feeling to have, especially if you play for this club.

"The performance clearly in the Premier League, we didn't pick up the points we should have. I'm not saying we have had a very good season in the Premier League but we've played better and deserve more points than we are having.

"In the Champions League we have performed at our standards. Every team in the last years have gone out when there is two knock-out games. Although, at Anfield we could have gone really close if VAR hadn't overturned a decision, that has usually not been overturned by VAR."

It's a sign of a big club that a bad season for them would be to ONLY qualify for the Champions League. That's pretty much the only silver lining for us Liverpool fans. When two other 'big clubs' struggled recently (united and spurs) they've nearly been relegated!

    Jack, Bromsgrove

Liverpool have sleep walked their way through the season. I sympathise with the amount of injuries but still have huge question marks around Slots tactics and reluctance to pick Rio.

  9. 'Three wins won't silence the criticism'published at 13:43 BST 8 May

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on having a positive end to the season: "This season has gone in a way that even if we have three wins and three positive results, I don't think everyone will still be positive about how the season has been.

"It's important we get at least one win over the line which we think is enough to qualify, we are not sure because four points makes it completely clear. We are trying to do it in the best possible way, performance-wise, which not always happens.

"The positive thing is a few of the players who can be really important for us are either coming back for the weekend or after the weekend. That will help us to achieve what we want to achieve.

"Three wins won't silence the criticism. Therefore we need to have a much longer run of result and performances. That is not where we are focussed on now, the focus is on three more games. Next season will also be different in terms of personnel."

  10. 'Chelsea have a clear identity'published at 13:40 BST 8 May

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Chelsea: "If our information is correct then a few of the players that were missing, have come back. It will probably be a stronger team, than last week. If those players they say are back, are back. That will be massive for them. As it is for any team when you miss out on your best players, that is never helpful.

"But it is always a difficult game for both teams because there is so much quality on both ends. It is a game between a lot of very good individual players, let's hope we have a very good team performance as well because that usually helps individuals, it will be even better.

On what to expect from Chelsea: "All managers have their own idea about football, they've had three this season. The current manager is a bit closer to what [Enzo] Maresca usually did, so has a very clear identity how he plays so it is clear what to expect. They have a clear identity."

  12. 'We need to have a good performance'published at 13:34 BST 8 May

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on the last three games and performance: "Usually this goes hand in hand, if you have good performance, it usually leads to results. That's why performances are very crucial and important. It is not always like that in football, sometimes you can have poor performance and still win. Over the long-term it helps, if your performance is good.

"The first and main aim is to qualify for the Champions League and we have shown this season we need a good performance to get results. The opposite has been true a lot of times where we've had a good performance, but the result wasn't there. And we've not had many times a poor performance and still had a result. We need to have a good performance to win a game."

Liverpool v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on team news: "Alex [Iask] has trained with us again, only for the first time, yesterday. So that is a positive, yesterday he did pasts of it [training]. Hopefully he can do parts or all of it today. Then we will see how much we can use him tomorrow.

"Alisson not yet, hasn't trained with us yet but very close. Mamardashvili will train with us today for the first time, so let's see how he is going to react.

"Mo also hasn't trained with us yet but is also getting very, very close to train with us."

Liverpool have cut the size of their planned rise in ticket prices for the next couple of seasons after fan protests.

Following discussion with the club's supporters board, Liverpool will increase general admission ticket prices by 3% for the 2026-27 season, followed by a price freeze in 2027-28.

The Premier League champions had previously announced that ticket prices would rise in line with the consumer price index (CPI) for inflation for the next three seasons.

The cheapest Anfield season tickets, situated in the Kop, will cost £734.50 next season, while the most expensive, located in the Main Stand, will cost £931.

The cheapest and most expensive match day tickets, in the Anfield Road Stand and Main Stand respectively, are priced at £30 and £62.75.

The club and the supporters board will continue discussions on a plan for future seasons, including exploring commercial ideas to avoid future ticket price increases and address issues around affordability.

For all the excitement of the Arsenal v Man City title race, I actually think the stories of Brentford and Bournemouth battling at the top are far more interesting. Two teams whose squad cost a billion each or two teams who didn’t even cost that between them. Incredible achievements.

  20. Recap: Guardiola news conferencepublished at 13:12 BST 8 May

Man City v Brentford (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Manchester City

That's everything from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

City can close the gap on Arsenal to two points before the Gunners kick a ball this weekend.

Anything less and you'd have to think it was over...

Here are the top lines from his news conference:

    • Guardiola said Rodri remains a doubt for Saturday's game against Brentford and refused to put the draw to Everton down to the Spaniard's absence
    • Phil Foden's new contract is close to completion but is not yet finalised, confirmed the City boss
    • Guardiola joked that Jeremy Doku's improvement is down to him before adding that the Belgium winger had been "amazing" this season
    • The City manager was full of praise for Manchester City women, who claimed the WSL title this week
    • Finally, he said there is no new info with regard to a new contract for defender Josko Gvardiol but claimed he would "love" the left-back to stay at the club
