Assuming Juventus and Atalanta can't turn their aggregate deficits around tomorrow night, Italy will have no representation in the last 16. This shows just how far the standard of Serie A has fallen over the last 20 or so years, as their teams used to dominate European football.

    Jonathan, Bridport

Let's not forget that Inter Milan reached the final of the Champions League last season.

  2. 'A terrible time for Italian football'published at 22:17 GMT 24 February

    FT: Inter 1-2 Bodo/Glimt (2-5 agg)

Disaster for Inter Milan. There could be no Italian teams in the last 16.

It is a difficult time for Italian football and this shows it. Today, Inter Milan put pressure on but it was not enough from them. They have been the best team in Italy for the last few years. And Napoli as well, they haven't even come close.

It's terrible for Italian football at the moment.

One of the biggest things is a good team spirit and good morale in terms of everyone pulling in the same direction. You have to be able to take failures and then come back for them.

Bodo will be really excited about the next leg and will be well up to play away. I don't think the tie will matter, they will be excited either way.

I bet Inter were checking the dates and potential opponents for their last-16 match when they got Bodo/Glimt in the play-offs. Oops.

    FT: Inter 1-2 Bodo/Glimt (2-5 agg)

Bodo did it by being supremely well organised and then taking their chances. It was a brilliant 'backs against the wall' performance. They had to weather a storm in the first half. But once they saw that off, they pounced on it.

When they went 1-0 up, it gave them some belief and a brilliant second goal from Håkon Evjen secured it. An extraordinary night.

FT: Newcastle 3-2 Qarabag (9-3 agg)

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at St James' Park

The damage was already done by the Newcastle players. I was surprised with Howe's selection but he took this game seriously and kept the momentum of his Newcastle side.

Newcastle were pushed. They coasted slightly when they were 2-0 ahead. But Qarabag made a game of it. It was a strange atmosphere here - a lovely moment when the Newcastle fans applauded the opposition's goal.

Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy, speaking to Amazon Prime: "It was job done. We had to come in today with a professional head. You could see that the tie wasn't done until it was all over. We made hard work of it at times but we got off to a flying start and the damage was done then."

On whether he wants Barcelona or Chelsea in the next round: "Anyone. Honestly with this group of players we'll take anyone on, especially with knockout football we back ourselves. Bring on whoever's to come."

  9. 'Newcastle would love Barcelona in the next round'published at 22:03 GMT 24 February

FT: Newcastle 3-2 Qarabag (9-3 agg)

    Dwight Gayle

Newcastle thrive off of counter attacks and bringing in Gordon and Wissa up front is vital for them.

Knowing all of the boys in the dressing room, they will be excited about who they get in the next round. They will buzz off someone like Barcelona and that will create an unbelievable tie.

To continue this run is perfect for them and now that everyone is fit again, they will be hungry for more silverware.

FT: Newcastle 3-2 Qarabag (9-3 agg)

    Chris Sutton

A job well done from Eddie Howe. He went with a strong team and they were pushed. This is a great time to be a Newcastle fan and no one enjoys playing them at St James' Park.

Qarabag did not go under and played some decent football.

I have really enjoyed the match and the way Qarabag have played.

Harvey Barnes has had another good game. He likes to play off the left, but has had an all-round good performance in the Newcastle jersey.

Most of the hard work was done last week in Azerbaijan, but Newcastle follow that 6-1 win with an entertaining 3-2 victory over a game, but limited Qarabag side.

Newcastle win 9-3 on aggregate to set up a two-legged last-16 tie against either Barcelona or Chelsea. It will be some story if Eddie Howe's side get through that one with a six-goal margin!

Almost a goal back for Olympiacos!

A corner comes into the box but is cleared off the line. Olympiacos want a penalty, but the referee says Robert Andrich did not handle the ball. It would have been harsh.
