Newcastle very quickly restore their seven-goal overall lead. A corner from the right is swung in by Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman is unmarked and powers a header into the net.

    Inter 0-0 Bodo/Glimt (1-3 agg)

Luis Enrique charges down the right flank and sends a cross into a penalty area packed with Inter bodies, but Nikita Haikin claims easily.

The hosts need to make more of situations like that.

  3. goal

    GOAL - Newcastle 2-1 Qarabag (8-2 agg)published at 21:06 GMT 24 February

    Camilo Duran (Qarabag)

The Qarabag fans have come a long way to follow their team, and they have been rewarded with a goal to celebrate.

It is a good goal too as Camilo Duran nudges the ball ahead of Dan Burn and is too fast for the England defender before providing a fine finish to beat Aaron Ramsdale.

  4. 'Good defending from Qarabag'published at 21:04 GMT 24 February

    Newcastle 2-0 Qarabag (8-1 agg)

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at St James' Park

Harvey Barnes is so good in those one v one situations. It was a good touch initially to get the ball away from the defender and then shapes it with his right foot.

Well defended by Qarabag in the end.

These two fellas were honoured before kick-off at the San Siro, posing with shirts and a special Inter football.

Few clubs will ever have strikers as good as Christian Vieri and Ronaldo Nazario.

Once upon a time, Inter had both in the same team.

No idea why Newcastle have fielded such a strong team tonight. Yes we might get another flashy result, but come the weekend we’ll have to face Everton with a load of our players who aren’t 100%. Why are we playing them in a tie that was already over?

    Glen, Newcastle

The only real question in the Newcastle-Qarabag match is whether Eddie Howe will let Anthony Gordon break a few more Champions League records in the second half!

HT: Newcastle 2-0 Qarabag (8-1 agg)

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at St James' Park

We expected it to be a cruise. The start Eddie Howe would've wanted - two goals up with the goals from Sandro Tonali and Joelinton. And they've just eased off and taken their foot off the gas.

Qarabag have come into the half and played some OK stuff, but it was game over before the game started.

  12. 'Alex Murphy has been very solid'published at 20:57 GMT 24 February

HT: Newcastle 2-0 Qarabag (8-1 agg)

    Dwight Gayle
Former Newcastle United forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

    On youngster Alex Murphy's performance:

He's been very solid. I think playing just to the left of Dan Burn is going to be perfect.

They got off to a great start and I'm sure after five or 10 minutes he felt like it was a normal day at the office for him.

He's built into it. He pulled off a great tackle towards the end of the half. I'm sure he will be buzzing about that and I'm sure he'll try to get more on the ball in the second half to create a chance or opportunity to have a dream debut.

Since scoring two early goals, Newcastle have gone into pedestrian mode. They are moving the ball agonising slowly!

    Nick, Newcastle

The tie may be done, but the number of times Newcastle’s defence plays the ball to a marked and retreating midfielder, who then loses it, is astounding.

Newcastle United are in command here tonight - and the hosts have been loudly applauded off the field at half-time.

But you suspect head coach Eddie Howe won't want to completely ease off after the break. Even at 8-1 on aggregate.

It looked like Newcastle were about to run riot once again after racing into a two-goal lead so early.

But Qarabag have since had one or two opportunities of their own.

Qarabag captain Badavi Huseynov has even thrown an arm around forward Joni Montiel and geed him up as the players go off.

The visitors will be desperate to give their travelling support a goal to celebrate tonight.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:48 GMT 24 February

    Inter 0-0 Bodo/Glimt (1-3 agg)

We're goalless at the break at San Siro.

Inter have peppered the Bodo/Glimt box with crosses and probably should have pulled a goal back, but it's the Norwegian side who are heading to the last-16 at the moment.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Olympiacos (2-0 agg)

That's it for the first half in Germany.

Leverkusen are three quarters of the way to the last-16.

Patrik Schick spurned a couple of early chances, but since then it's been Olympiacos who have looked for way back into the tie. No goals yet though.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:46 GMT 24 February

    Newcastle 2-0 Qarabag (8-1 agg)

Two goals inside the opening six minutes - from Sandro Tonali and Joelinton - have Newcastle cruising into the last 16.

  18. 'Qarabag have had opportunities'published at 20:43 GMT 24 February

    Newcastle 2-0 Qarabag (8-1 agg)

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at St James' Park

Excellent save from Aaron Ramsdale. Good break from Qarabag.

Qarabag have had one or two opportunities and were not far away from the next corner too.

  19. Postpublished at 20:43 GMT 24 February

    Newcastle 2-0 Qarabag (8-1 agg)

Chances at both ends. Sven Botman has a header for Newcastle, but away goalkeeper Mateusz Kochalski manages to get a vital touch and that sparks a rapid break down the other end.

The counter attack ends with a strike from Camilo Duran, but Aaron Ramsdale does what he needs to do by leaping up and pushing it over the bar.

Badavi Huseynov then glances a header wide off target from the following corner.

Olympiacos have come out of their shells and are putting Bayer Leverkusen under plenty of pressure.

Cross after cross is being sent into the penalty area, but the Bundesliga side are coping. How the Greek side would love a goal before the break.
