Barcelona are just in top form at the moment, they are going to the match tomorrow oozing with confidence.

They beat Atletico just a few days ago in Madrid and just a few weeks ago they thumped Newcastle in the last 16.

They're unbeaten in all the competitions for almost two months. Their attacking talent is just phenomenal.

Marcus Rashford scored Barcelona's equaliser in their 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid on Saturday, ending a run of six games without a goal.

The Manchester United loanee will be looking to build on that performance and help plug the gap in the Barcelona attack left by the injured Raphinha, who has been ruled out until May because of a hamstring issue.

Rashford has scored five goals in nine Champions League games this season, as many as he has managed in 25 La Liga outings.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid must be sick of the sight of each other - this is the fifth time they have met this season.

Barcelona have won three of the four previous clashes this term, including a 2-1 win at the Estadio Metropolitano on Saturday.

While Atletico have got the better of the Catalans only once, it was a significant victory. Diego Simeone's side thrashed Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final in February, before sneaking into the final despite losing the second leg 3-0.

The Madrid side have conceded three goals both times they have travelled to Spotify Camp Nou this season.

    .

It took Paris St-Germain an age and an awful lot of money to win their first Champions League.

And they have certainly not been shy at reminding anyone and everyone about last year's triumph.

It's plastered all over the outside walls of their Parc des Princes home while there are miniature European Cups on sale in the massive club shop across the road from the stadium.

The question is: will PSG go all the way and successfully defend their European title this season?

  5. PSG love English opponentspublished at 19:35 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Paris St-Germain have a knack of beating Premier League clubs.

Since the start of last season, the Ligue 1 leaders have defeated Manchester City, Aston Villa, Arsenal (twice), Tottenham, Chelsea (twice) and Liverpool.

They have spent this campaign trying to replicate what they did last season and, in recent weeks, there have been signs they are starting to do just that.

They ran away with the tie against Chelsea in the last round, winning 8-2 on aggregate.

As a Liverpool fan I feel like we can win this. Every time Slot has his back in the corner and we are facing an uphill battle we seem to get away with it. Seems to be his speciality

It keeps Arne Slot in a job if Liverpool win this game and get through this leg. The Xabi Alonso thing is not going to go away because he is there, and he is available.

For Arne Slot, watching them this year has been so repetitive. They come inside and keep the ball - they try and kill you with a thousand passes.

  8. Wirtz backs managerpublished at 19:28 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Midfielder Florian Wirtz said Liverpool are fully behind the manager.

"Yes, of course we are believing in the manager," said Germany playmaker Wirtz on Tuesday.

"The team should believe in the manager because they won the league last season, we had a lot of good games this season.

"We wanted it to be better but we still have things to play for."

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is an important point in Arne Slot's career and his Liverpool career. If they are to lose heavily again tonight, I think the fans will voice their opinion.

There is a lot of discontent around the manager at the moment. The problem you get is he's not Jurgen Klopp.

He is not that characteristic person who carries himself well with the fans.

    .

Those fans in the far corner of the Parc des Princes are here to support Liverpool. There will be around 2,400 of them inside by kick-off.

Last Saturday, many headed for the exits with more than half an hour still remaining after Manchester City scored their fourth goal.

Tonight, they won't be allowed to leave early. French police will hold them back for half an hour after the final whistle in order to clear home supporters.

Will the travelling Reds have something to cheer about?

  11. 'Huge 90 minutes for Slot'published at 19:20 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter at Parc des Princes

I was at his press conference yesterday and this is a huge 90 minutes for Arne Slot. He has made two changes since that performance against Manchester City. Alexis Mac Allister and Jeremie Frimpong come back into the side at the expense of Curtis Jones and Mo Salah.

  12. Should Slot stay or should he go?published at 19:18 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Last April, Arne Slot's Liverpool were celebrating a Premier League title triumph. This April, they are fighting to save their season.

Despite the success of his first campaign in charge, Slot is under enormous pressure to deliver Champions League football for next season - either by winning it this term or qualifying through the Premier League.

It has been a difficult season for the Reds and it seems many Liverpool fans are becoming disillusioned with Slot's tenure.

If they go out of the Champions League, is Slot in trouble? Or should he be given until the end of the season?

  13. Toughest of testspublished at 19:16 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Liverpool know they're facing a difficult challenge this evening in the defending European champions.

They have met on six previous occasions in European competition, with both sides registering three wins each.

Their most recent meetings came in the Champions League last season, where both won 1-0 away from home in the round of 16, before the Parisians won on a penalty shootout at Anfield to progress (4-1).

In that tie, Liverpool averaged just 38.6% possession and had 14 fewer shots on target than PSG across the two legs (four for, 18 against); their biggest negative shot on target differential in a Champions League knockout stage tie on record (since 2003-04).

Listen to what the captain, Virgil van Dijk said and when he uses those type of words...

You could see him stringing into midfield [against Manchester City] and he was trying to instigate the press. He didn't feel that the players in and around him were doing that.

  15. 'Defining' moment for Reds boss Slotpublished at 19:12 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter at Parc des Princes

Not only is it a test for Liverpool. I think it could be defining for the manager, Arne Slot who is coming under increasing pressure, especially after the capitulation at the weekend against Manchester City.

I just think they're going to go into a game against a Paris St-Germain side who have won the last four games and Liverpool are going to face a really intense PSG side.

  16. 'We have become experienced in negativity'published at 19:10 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said after Saturday's FA Cup defeat by Manchester City that his side gave up.

Manager Arne Slot disagreed with that sentiment in his news conference yesterday.

"I didn't see players giving up, but I also think it is good from a captain that he has a strong and firm reaction," Slot said.

"This year we have been quite experienced in terms of negativity. This was a big one because it was a [FA Cup] quarter-final. It was a big loss against our rivals."

Whether Liverpool gave up against City or not, the Reds are in need of some positivity and it doesn't get much tougher than this tonight to find some.

  17. Postpublished at 19:08 BST 8 April

    Paris St-Germain v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Arne Slot has warned his side they will have to play much better than they did against Manchester City at the weekend or face another crushing defeat.

Liverpool conceded four times inside 20 minutes either side of half-time against City.

"I can tell you if we have the 20 minutes we had at City here, we will again concede four goals," said Slot.

"So it is a challenge for us to be from the first to the last second at the level we were at in the first 35 minutes [against City]."

The 18 year-old was big talk in the presser today, as you can imagine.

Hansi Flick described him as just unbelievable. He will be formidable opposition against Atletico.

If last season was Lamine Yamal's breakout year at Barcelona, then this term he has cemented his status as one of the best players on the planet.

The 19-year-old winger has scored 21 goals and set up another 16 in 41 games in all competitions this season.

He's scored in each of Barcelona's past three Champions League matches - can he make it four in a row?
