Another statement victory for Hearts. A lot of questions have been asked about the mettle and mentality of the team and they have surely been answered tonight. Deep quality under pressure from the entire squad.

    Calum

What a shambles. St Mirren absolutely played off the park against 10 men.

    John

Just think how good Jambos will be when they have 11 players.

    Scottish Premiership

Hearts are now six points clear at the top of the table.

Celtic stay six behind and are now into second, ahead of Old Firm rivals Rangers on goal difference.

Falkirk stay five adrift of Hibernian and five ahead of Dundee United in sixth, while St Mirren are stuck four behind Dundee in 10th and are still only four ahead of Kilmarnock.

  3. Three points all important for Celticpublished at 21:52 GMT 14 January

    FT: Falkirk 0-1 Celtic

    Tony Docherty
Former Dundee manager on BBC Scotland

When it gets to this stage of the season, it is all about picking up three points.

John McGlynn got his tactics spot on, playing two wide players against Celtic, and they were the better team.

But Celtic got across the line and that's the most important thing.

Falkirk take all the credit and John McGlynn will be gutted they didn't take anything from it.

Celtic lacked control and that's not something you expect from them.

    Talk about statement results.

This is a statement result for Hearts.

Down to 10 men since the 15th minute and they deserved to win by more.

  6. FULL-TIME Hearts 2-0 St Mirrenpublished at 21:44 GMT 14 January

Another statement victory from the league leaders, who once again battled so hard when down to 10 men and came away with three points.

Beni Baningime's 14th-minute red card threatened a slip in their title challenge, but they've come through another challenge thanks to goals from Lawrence Shankland and Tomas Magnusson in the second half.

St Mirren threatened at times but only after they went behind.

And any question about the Tynecastle atmosphere has been answered resoundingly, too. This place was rocking.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:43 GMT 14 January

    Hearts 2-0 St Mirren

Craig Gordon has done it again.

This time it's Killian Phillips the Hearts goalkeeper denies from close range, saving with his right hip as the Irishman volleys for goal.

    Hearts 2-0 St Mirren

    St Mirren have deserved nothing.

Hearts deserve to be two goals ahead, if not more.

    Hearts 2-0 St Mirren

Cammy Devlin has taken a sore one in a challenge with Killian Phillips. It was just an awkward one as the Irishman fell on his midfield opponent.

Still, a sore one for the Aussie. Hearts have one more change to make.

  10. FULL-TIME - Falkirk 0-1 Celticpublished at 21:39 GMT 14 January

Probably Celtic's most undeserved Premiership win for quite some time. But it's a massive one.

Benjamin Nygren's 10th league goal of the season just before the break wins it.

Falkirk were outstanding but somehow take nothing from the game.

Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel collects a Falkirk corner and there is a minute left.

    Falkirk just keep coming.

    Celtic are hanging in here.

Falkirk are controlling it and getting into wide areas.

Five added minutes at Falkirk Stadium. A huge five minutes for Celtic, who have been far from convincing.

Having said that, they should have sealed it. A cutback for Reo Hatate should be buried, but the midfielder fluffs his touch.

It's eventually laid back to him again, but it isn't a great pass and the chance is gone.

I thought St Mirren would have pushed on after Hearts went down to 10 men.

But they have switched off since winning the League Cup.

    Incredible performance from Hearts.

It supersedes Sunday if they can see it through.

  17. goal

GOAL HEARTS 2-0 St Mirrrenpublished at 21:27 GMT 14 January

    Tomas Magnusson

    Game over?

It all comes through the hard work of Pierre Landry Kabore. Up against about seven St Mirren defenders, all by himself, he wins a throw high up the pitch.

The long throw is messy but Magnusson is able to mop up and play Harry Milne through on goal. It's a fine save from Shamal George but Magnusson is following in to head in the rebound.

  18. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:26 GMT 14 January

    Hearts 1-0 St Mirren

Shout for hand ball against Tomas Magnusson as Killian Phillips tries a shot with the outside of the boot in the box.

Nope, nothing given against the Hearts midfielder. Just a corner.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:26 GMT 14 January

    Falkirk 0-1 Celtic

That's a BIG save from Kasper Schmeichel.

Liam Scales takes a wilde swipe after Auston Trusty gives the ball away cheaply.

It falls kindly for Ethan Williams and the Falkirk substitute shoots on target, but the Celtic goalkeeper reacts brilliantly to turn the ball away with his feet.

Father Peter looks stoic in the stands but must be bursting with pride.

  20. Kenny on for Celticpublished at 21:23 GMT 14 January

    Falkirk 0-1 Celtic

    Tony Docherty
Former Dundee manager on BBC Scotland

It will be more of a natural shape for Celtic now, with Johnny Kenny coming on to play up front.

Nygren will drop back into a more natural role.
