Modern-day football. Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli goes down and gives the impression he's been involved in an industrial accident after trying to block off a Leverkusen player from heading the ball.

    He is obviously totally fine.

Arsenal have had one shot on target so far.

This game looks there for the taking though if they can raise their intensity level.

Exequiel Palacios has made four tackles and won four duels so far - both the most of any player on either side.

I've been impressed with Palacios. They're not big in stature those two in the middle for Leverkusen but they're very intelligent footballers.

The way they position themselves, stepping out in middle to get the ball and win little tackles and always seem to be in the right place at the right time.

When the ball is at their feet, they're very tidy.

Leverkusen's French winger Martin Terrier goes down holding his knee so we have a short break in play.

It gives Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta the opportunity to call over Declan Rice and Martín Zubimendi and issue some instrictions.

Christian Kofane has looked a threat for Bayer Leverkusen.

He's cause Gabriel some problems which is not something that many strikers can say.

Aleix Garcia tries his luck with a cross-cum-shot that drifts wide of David Raya's goal. There was no conviction in that whatsoever.

Bayer Leverkusen's biggest problem so far is getting enough numbers forward to support Christian Kofane.

When they do break, the hosts are outnumbered by Arsenal defenders.

Christian Kofane is very much the main man for Leverkusen.

He is causing William Saliba and Gabriel plenty of problems and maybe catching the eye of any watching Premier League managers.

Very solid play from Martinelli there, that would be an incredible goal. What a game of football so far!

Great awareness from Eze to leave the ball and a lovely spot from Gyokeres who's started the game really well, he's looked a threat.

It's the first time they've really got the ball wide, Timber coming on the overlap and all of a sudden they found that space which made that back three of Leverkusen look vulnerable.

Really good work from most of the Arsenal frontline before Martinelli hit the bar.

It's clever from Eze to let the ball run and Gyokeres tees the winger up.

Martinelli has already got six goals in the Champions League this season and he was very close to a seventh there.

Gabriel Martinelli almost has his goal. A sweeping Arsenal move ends up with the ball at the feet of the Brazilian around eight yards out and his effort cannons back off the bar.

I'm not an Arsenal fan, but the Champions League is the only time I can watch them for entertainment. The way teams play in Europe means Premier League sides can actually play open, free-flowing football.

Ibrahim Maza breaks with pace and gets the ball back off Christian Kofane for the hosts.

The Algeria forward works a yard but can't keep his shot down and blazes well over from 18 yards.

The Gunners had six defenders back there against just three home attacking players and always looked in control of the situation.

  20. 'They really miss Martin Odegaard'published at 18:01 GMT 11 March

Whenever Arsenal have that sustained pressure around their opponents penalty area, is the space where they really miss Martin Odegaard.

He has that creative ability to find a pass whether it's through, over or around. He's so cheeky with the way he plays them balls. It looks like it could be a night for that with Leverkusen dropping really deep.

It's going to take a really creative pass to break that down.
