  2. Vitinha boots the ball out of play straight from kick-offpublished at 20:07 GMT 11 March

    Paris St-Germain 0-0 Chelsea

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

After Chelsea did their now customary half-way line huddle before the match, PSG midfielder Vitinha decides to just kick it long out of play.

A strategy straight out of the rugby playbook is part of one of the world's most technically gifted and exciting teams.

  3. Postpublished at 20:07 GMT 11 March

    Paris St-Germain 0-0 Chelsea

Reece James gets free down the right wing and fires in a low, tasty cross into the middle. Joao Pedro is there but can only get his toes on the ball and it drifts well wide.

But encouraging for Chelsea how they got the chance. At the other end, Joao Neves strikes low from 30 yards out, but Filip Jorgensen watches it all the way and is able to dive forwards and gather.

    Real Madrid 0-0 Man City

    Almost a chance for City.

Jeremy Doku wins possession and goes on a fine run to the edge of the Real Madrid box. It opens up for him but he delays his shot and then loses possession.

  5. Postpublished at 20:05 GMT 11 March

    Paris St-Germain 0-0 Chelsea

Desire Doue of PSG is a bit late on Moises Caicedo, who gets his toes trodden on and is very keen to tell everyone that. But he's OK, with nothing other than a free-kick.

Sporting are knocking the ball around nicely early on, trying to get a feel of the pitch and the conditions.

Tonight's game is, of course, being played on an artificial pitch.

  7. Postpublished at 20:04 GMT 11 March

    Real Madrid 0-0 Man City

Real Madrid start on the front foot and Trent Alexander-Arnold is heavily involved as Manchester City are forced to spent the opening couple of minutes camped inside their own half.

  8. 'A real opportunity for Man City'published at 20:03 GMT 11 March

    Real Madrid 0-0 Man City

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Estadio Bernabeu

A real opportunity here for Manchester City. Real Madrid are not in a good place and have big names missing - Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham for example.

They have struggled in the league so this is a huge opportunity for City to exploit their weaknesses.

  9. Postpublished at 20:03 GMT 11 March

    Paris St-Germain 0-0 Chelsea

PSG start off and in a move more likely to be seen at Twickenham, they launch the ball directly out, as close to the corner flag as possible. Not really sure what the thinking is, but it certainly didn't work with Chelsea easily keeping the ball from the restart.

Manchester City play Real Madrid for the 16th time in the Champions League - twice as often as they have faced any other team in the competition. In those 15 times, they've won 5, lost 5 and drawn 5 games.

Pardon the pun, but things are really heating up ahead of kick‑off in Norway. A firework display is underway as the players wait at the mouth of the tunnel.

Let’s just hope they’ve saved some fireworks for the 90 minutes.

"Playing a Champions League knockout tie motivates me and, as a coach, facing the best in the world is very motivating. It will be a great experience."

Alonso's Real Madrid future uncertain after Man City defeat - analysis

It's just 91 days since Manchester City came from behind to beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the league phase.

On 10 December, Rodrygo gave the home side the lead before goals by Nico O'Reilly and Erling Haaland stunned home fans and earned City a memorable 2-1 win in Spain's capital.

Xabi Alonso was Real's boss at the time but lasted just another month before he was replaced by his former Liverpool team-mate Alvaro Arbeloa.

A tasteful light show, combined with the more organic noise generated by two duelling sets of ultras behind each goal, makes Paris St‑Germain’s stadium a uniquely atmospheric place.

There are visual elements too with large flags and two mosaics behind both goals.
