James and Kerr apart, Chelsea have been sloppy and lazy — notably Bronze. How Bright’s discipline and drive is missed and will be. Kerr is badly needed too and will be sorely missed too if allowed to leave. Standards have slipped badly on this evidence.

    Timothy

Think you may be being a little harsh there, Timothy. Yes there have been some mistakes but in the main it's been a good performance. They were 3-0 up and cruising after 33 minutes. It's always hard to keep the foot on the gas when you're so comfortable so early.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 90 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Strong stop from Katie Keane to deny Sjoeke Nusken Chelsea's fourth from near point-blank range.

A note too for Alyssa Thompson's winding run from out wide to set up the German, breathtakingly brilliant.

  3. 'Chelsea haven’t been as clinical in front of goal'published at 16:17 BST 3 May

    Lindsay Johnson
Former Everton defender on BBC Two

I think Chelsea haven’t been as clinical in front of goal [under Bompastor], but I think that’s because teams have gotten better. The likes of City and Arsenal, who are competing with them. The teams who are lower in the table are going into low-blocks and making it difficult to play through after being beaten by them heavily in previous games.”

  4. CHANCE!published at 87 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Sandy Baltimore will be wondering how she's not managed to get on the scoresheet here. She does all the hard work, showing great close control to sidestep three challenges in the box but curls her finish wide of the top left corner.

Before taking the goal kick Leicester introduce veteran forward Rachel Wiiliams for Sari Kees.

Corner for Chelsea as they look to add the flourish of a fourth late on. Wieke Kaptein delivers it into the penalty spot but it bounces oddly and somehow evades a couple of team-mates before it's thumped clear.

That is a disgraceful challenge. A red card all day long & and thankful Thompson is a player who wears full size shin pads or that could have been a lot worse!

Thankfully for Chelsea, and the USA, Thompson has been able to run off that shocker of a challenge, and has got some revenge by running rings around Ashleigh Neville in the five or so minutes since.

  8. 'Could have been far worse for Thompson'published at 16:10 BST 3 May

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

    Lindsay Johnson
Former Everton defender on BBC Two

Yeah she [Neville] catches her high. She jumps into it as well, so she really catches Alyssa Thompson. We heard the scream, so loud it could have been far worse than what it was for Alyssa Thompson.

    Oof.

Almost a fourth from Chelsea as Veerle Buurman lets fly from about 25 yards, forcing Katie Keane into a sharp dive to her right to parry away.

Decent effort from the centre half, who definitely has that in her locker judging on the stunner she netted in the FA Cup against Manchester United not too long ago.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:07 BST 3 May

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Another Foxes alteration as Jutta Rantala comes on in place of Emily van Egmond in midfield.

  11. 'Leicester have been a lot more competitive'published at 16:06 BST 3 May

Leicester have been a lot more competitive in this second-half winning their 1 v 1 duels, and making it harder for Chelsea.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 76 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Chelsea winger Alyssa Thompson lets out a loud scream as she is caught very high by a lunging tackle from Leicester full-back Ashleigh Neville.

The defender can count herself very, very fortunate that she's only been shown a yellow card for that.

  13. Chelsea are expecting 'big things' from Bompastorpublished at 16:04 BST 3 May

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

    Lindsay Johnson
Former Everton defender on BBC Two

Bompastor has come to a club like Chelsea who dominated the English league for so long, and she has big shoes to fill with Emma Hayes, but Bompastor comes with her own titles and pedigree in the French league. So Chelsea are expecting big things.

  14. Postpublished at 73 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

68.9% of possession for Chelsea in this second half compared to 71.7% in the first, but they've been much less effective with it.

A lot of backwards and sideways passes and little threat to the Leicester defence.

It's so often the case that Lauren James is the star turn for Chelsea. And that was no different today.

She was at her sparkling best for 45 minutes, in which time she scored two pearlers from outside the box. Here they are for you to savour once more:

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Chelsea have picked up in recent minutes, with the substitutes clearly well accustomed to the rhythm of things.

Sandy Baltimore and Aggie Beever-Jones both had chances but the former's looped up and away from goal and the latter's trickled straight into the arms of Leicester keeper Katie Keane.

  17. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Ellie Carpenter has her pocket picked by Julie Thibaud in the centre circle and suddenly Leicester are charging at the Chelsea back line.

Noemie Mouchon decides to have a go from range but fires straight at the back of Chelsea centre-back Veerle Buurman and the opening is lost.

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Sjoeke Nusken does well to take the ball off the toes of Leicester centre half Emma Jansson on the edge of the box and lay off for Ellie Carpenter to fire into the six yard box.

It's an easy gather for Katie Keane this time though.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 62 mins

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

Three more changes on the way for Chelsea...

On: Veerle Buurman, Aggie Beever-Jones & Alyssa Thompson

Off: Sam Kerr, Niamh Charles & Johanna Rytting Kaneryd

  20. Postpublished at 15:50 BST 3 May

    Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea

It's been a bit stop start in this second half with the amount of changes plus that head injury for Leicester's Shannon O'Brien.

The Foxes have looked more composed and confident mind, and are playing the ball about with a bit of freedom.
