A chance to get in the FA Cup final is massive for Brighton. It's a huge opportunity against Liverpool, they know what they are capable of.

When you have a player like Fran Kirby who has been so key in really big moments and came up so well, I am hoping for them. I have been really impressed by them. They are in a really good place.

"It would be a massive step if we could be the first team to potentially be in a position to bring a first trophy back to the club or to go to Wembley," Brighton boss Dario Vidosic said in his press conference.

"We can’t always measure everything on things like that though because I think there has been a lot of successes throughout the season and a lot of things we can celebrate.

"Let’s say we do win it, it all starts again the next day and when the season ends. You don’t get any special privileges if you are the winners. It’s nice and you enjoy it in that moment, but then you start to prepare for what’s next again."

It's a one off game and anything can happen. That's what makes it so exciting. Yes, there will be some nerves but you've just got to go out there and enjoy it.

They have played each other twice this season, they haven't been the most exciting of games - they probably need to score a few more goals! But if you scrape a 1-0 and you're going through to the FA Cup final, who cares?! No one is going to remember that - you're in the FA Cup final.

Everything is on the line.

It feels like a BIG day for both these clubs.

For Liverpool, the chance of a first FA Cup final since the 1990s. Brighton, meanwhile, have never gone past the semi-finals.

Gareth Taylor has made sure Liverpool are really well-organised but they've also got that threat going forward.

Ceri Holland for me is the key player for Liverpool. Outstanding. She doesn't get the headlines but her team-mates realise how important she is. In both the defensive sense but also going forward she never ever stops running. She could be a creator or a goalscorer today.

Liverpool are getting to where Taylor wants them to be. I think next season, if they invest, they will be an even better side. They could be really competitive.

Having laid down foundations for next season, Liverpool hope a trip to Wembley can be the catalyst for a better campaign in 2026-27.

It has been four years since Liverpool won a trophy - the Women's Championship title in 2022 - and they have never won the Women's FA Cup.

For a club that won back-to-back WSL titles in 2013 and 2014, the drop-off has been significant, but O'Sullivan believes they are still capable of success.

"It would mean a lot. It's an amazing club with a lot of history and I think Liverpool should be up there, winning trophies," said O'Sullivan.

"That's what we want to do, so to be in a semi-final of the FA Cup is a credit to everyone who has got us there. We will give it everything."

"Everyone is really excited about the FA Cup. It’s a competition that has fortunately retained its magic. That has never changed," Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor said in his pre-match press conference.

"It has always been well-respected and it’s a fantastic competition to be involved in, and to win.

"We don’t want it [our season] to finish at Anfield on 16 May. We want to finish the season on 31 May at Wembley Stadium. That is incentive enough. We want to give our fans the reward they really deserve by getting to a Wembley final."

It does feel huge. It was a tough start for Gareth Taylor. Liverpool were struggling right at the bottom of the table. They couldn't get a win. I really worried for them.

I remember speaking to Gareth Taylor. He said he needed to build time to build his philosophy and his players needed to get fitter and get used to the way he wants them to play.

Liverpool backed him and brought players in. You can see they've got his sort of squad. If he needs to bring players off the bench to impact a game he can do.

Liverpool's season has largely not gone to plan, but the Women's Super League strugglers are potentially just two wins away from lifting a major trophy.

The Reds sit second bottom in the WSL with one game left, having won only four of their 21 league fixtures.

Gareth Taylor's late appointment in the summer, leading to issues with recruitment following the departure of star players, meant Liverpool had a poor start.

All four of their WSL wins have come in the new year, with players arriving in January and boosting their position, pulling them away from relegation danger.

It means the Reds are revitalised as they aim to reach a fourth Women's FA Cup final, having lost three successive trophy matches from 1994 to 1996.

Whenever I've watched Brighton this season they've always been well-organised off the ball. They've got this real threat going forward. I think Fran Kirby males a real difference. She's that real quality in the middle of the park. She's very clever and she knits everything together.

Liverpool bring Kirsty Maclean and Cornelia Kapocs into their team from their last line-up which was a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester City.
