It’s beyond me why Slot persists in playing our most in form midfielder as RB when Ramsey could easily play there, and Kerkez over Robertson really?

    Martin, North Wales

Weird. Slot leaving the best fullbacks, Robertson and Gomez, on the bench.

    Alastair, Irons

Why is Slot persisting with Szboszlai at RB again?! He’s got Gomez and Ramsay sat on the bench who can both play there and do well, instead of sacrificing for your best midfielder out of position . Slot does himself no favours at times.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has only won one of his last eight games against PSV in all competitions (drawn three, lost four), a run which includes falling to a 3-2 defeat in Eindhoven in last season’s league phase.

Against no side has Slot suffered more defeats in his managerial career than PSV (four - level with FC Twente and Vitesse).

Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

Teams are living entities and making them click is the biggest mystery of the game. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't, even though you prepare for games in exactly the same way as you always have.

Johan Cruyff used to say that the hardest thing for a team is to win after winning. After lifting the title, it seems like Liverpool have stopped doing the things that made them win it.

Arne Slot mentioned that they just aren't doing the little things. They aren't intense enough, they are losing duels, they don't defend set pieces and new players are adapting slowly. When the dynamic is so bad, these little things are difficult to change.

I’m surprised, thought would have continued with Hincapie. Solid against Spurs, but also has the Bundesliga experience for an opponent such as tonight’s. But Mosquera is quality still though.

    Peter, Colchester

Will be interesting to see how Arsenal get on with Lewis-Skelly. We all want him to do well and force his way into the England squad for the World Cup, but Calafiori has been so immense this season that I wonder if we’ll miss his swashbuckling dynamism in a massive game.

Tonight's match at Emirates Stadium will have personal significance for two of Europe's most creative and in-form forwards, who come up against each other just 18 months after terrorising Premier League defences in unison.

Arsenal's Eberechi Eze and Bayern's Michael Olise are firm friends from their three seasons together at Crystal Palace - a relationship that was strengthened through their love of chess.

Both players have taken a similar path over the past few years, rising from the Championship to fulfilling their potential at Crystal Palace, combining eight times to score for the Eagles, with Olise providing all eight assists for Eze's goals.

Now, they are competing against each other at the top of the European game and are also poised to feature for their countries at the World Cup.

But will either help their team to a checkmate position by full-time?

    Paris St-Germain v Tottenham Hotspur (20:00 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Paris

Spurs head coach Thomas Frank had to deal with an angry reaction from fans after they were heavily beaten 4-1 in the north London derby at Arsenal on Sunday.

Frank, however, wants to be given time to turn Spurs around after only three wins in their last 11 games.

He said here in Paris last night: "Part of taking this job was to have the challenges. Part of that is to manage those setbacks and learn and move on. One thing I’m 1,000% sure of, I know how to build a team, I know how to build a club and we will do that."

Swathes of Tottenham Hotspur fans remain unconvinced that Thomas Frank is the right man to take the club forward, and those dissenting voices have grown louder after another listless performance in Sunday's north London derby.

Tottenham's lack of creativity has been something of a theme under Frank, and his switch to a back three/five was also heavily criticised. It remains to be seen whether he sticks with that tactical approach here, given that he employed a similar system in the penalty shootout loss to Paris St-Germain in his first Spurs game.

The Parisians were humbled by Bayern Munich in their last European outing – their only loss at the Parc des Princes this season – but they have never suffered back-to-back Champions League home defeats in their history. A deflated Tottenham look unlikely to alter that record on Wednesday.

It's an absolutely freezing cold evening on Merseyside and Liverpool have got a job to do.

Eight defeats in their last 11 matches and sitting in the bottom half of the table, it's been tough for Arne Slot's side.

They urgently need a performance and a result to try and get over this slump.

Perhaps the Champions League will provide a bit of respite with the Reds winning three of their four matches so far and a chance to move back into the top eight with victory tonight.
