We asked you what you believe Liverpool should do about Arne Slot, and an overwhelming 82% suggested he should go either now or in the summer. Here is a breakdown of the responses at the time of writing:

    • Sack Slot now - 42%
    • Sack Slot in the summer - 40%
    • Keep Slot - 18%

Is the writing on the wall for Slot?

Liverpool and Tottenham have also got it all to do in the late kick-offs.

Tottenham are in the middle of somewhat of a crisis as they try to avoid relegation from the Premier League. So what does that mean for the Champions League?

Surely it's tie over after last week's chaos, are we in for more of the same? Or is a calmer night ahead?

And the pressure seems to be heaping on Arne Slot at Liverpool. Will a win tonight silence some of the critics?

  3. 'No real surprises' in Newcastle line-uppublished at 16:51 GMT 18 March

    Barcelona v Newcastle (agg 1-1, 17:45 GMT)

Former Newcastle full back John Anderson isn't surprised by Eddie Howe's team selection tonight with the possible exception of Kieran Trippier being chosen ahead of Tino Livramento.

Anderson cites Trippier's experience as a plausible reason for his inclusion in the starting line-up.

  4. Newcastle travel with belief rather than fearpublished at 16:48 GMT 18 March

The Nou Camp is a building site at the moment as work continues on the dramatic renovation of Barcelona’s legendary home.

But the inside of the stadium is still an awe-inspiring sight.

There is a reason so many sides have crumbled here over the years, but Newcastle United have not travelled to Barcelona in fear. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Eddie Howe’s team took a lot of belief from last week’s first-leg performance at St James’ Park - even after the sucker punch of conceding a 96th-minute equaliser - and you do not get the sense the visitors will be overawed tonight.

These players have built up a lot of big-game experience, and the measured Howe did not sound like someone who had got caught up in the sense of occasion.

There were no bold statements, no tub-thumping, from the head coach on the eve of the second leg.

Howe instead spoke about his wish for the enormity of the game “to lift the players and make us grow”.

“Certainly we can’t shrink,” he said.

It is an almighty task for Newcastle, but those 10,000 supporters who have travelled over are daring to dream.

Remarkably, this is Lamine Yamal's first knockout stage match in the Champions League at the Camp Nou, 911 days after he made his first European appearance for the club.

The 18-year-old has 12 goal involvements in his last 11 home matches in Europe (six goals, six assists).

He remains the youngest player to start a game in this competition (against Porto in October 2023). Already in his fourth season in senior football, he has notched 45 goals in 141 games since graduating from La Masia. He has four goals and three assists in this season's competition.

  6. Team news – Yamal starts for Barca; Newcastle make five changespublished at 16:42 GMT 18 March

Lamine Yamal starts as Barcelona make three changes for the visit of Newcastle United in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.

The Spaniard comes back into the side after being benched for Sunday’s victory against Sevilla.

Eric Garcia and Fermin Lopez have also been recalled.

Barcelona starting XI: J.Garcia, Cancelo, E.Garcia, Cubarsi, Martin, Pedri, Bernal, Lopez, Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha,

Subs: Szczesny, Araujo, Gavi, Ferran, Rashford, Casado, Olmo, Roony, Kochen, Cortes, Espart, Tommy

    Barcelona lineup

Sandro Tonali has recovered from illness to start for Newcastle United as the visitors make five changes for the trip to the Nou Camp.

The Italian midfielder missed the weekend win against Chelsea after feeling unwell, but he is fit enough to line up from the off this evening.

Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, Joelinton and Anthony Elanga also return to the side.

Newcastle starting XI: Ramsdale, Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Hall, Tonali, Ramsey, Joelinton, Elanga, Gordon, Barnes

Subs: Pope, Ruddy, Harris, Botman, Wissa, Osula, Livramento, J.Murphy, Woltemade, Willock, A.Murphy, Neave

  7. Odds against Newcastle?published at 16:39 GMT 18 March

    Barcelona v Newcastle (agg 1-1, 17:45 GMT)

So, first up this evening Newcastle take on European heavyweights Barcelona.

It was an agonising night for the Magpies at St James' Park last week as Harvey Barnes gave them a 1-0 lead in the 86th minute but Lamine Yamal cancelled it out 10 minutes later from the penalty spot to square things up before tonight's second leg in Spain.

"The way it ended it is a tough one to take but we have to remember it is only halfway through the tie," said Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.

But Barcelona have only lost twice at home to English opposition in their history (W22, D13).

The odds are stacked against Newcastle but, as we know, anything can happen in this competition.

  9. Good evening!published at 16:33 GMT 18 March

Another huge night of Champions League action this evening.

Manchester City and Chelsea were knocked out of the competition last night while Arsenal have booked their place in the last eight.

Newcastle, Tottenham and Liverpool could join them tonight but, with none of them leading in the tie at the half-way point, they've all got work to do.

Will there be more than one Premier League team in the next round?

    Let's find out.
