    Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (agg 4-3)

    It was a full-throttle first 45 minutes.

Can Newcastle maintain that tempo after the hammer blow of going behind late in the first half?

This still is not over for Newcastle. They have plenty of opportunities to score against this Barca defence. I can see it being 5-5.

  7. 'Trippier is a lucky man'published at 18:52 GMT 18 March

    HT: Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (4-3)

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Trippier is a lucky man to get away with a yellow there.

  8. Postpublished at 18:50 GMT 18 March

HT: Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (agg 4-3)

Was Kieran Trippier lucky not to see red there? Denial of a goalscoring opportunity?

Here are the IFAB rules around that:

Denying a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO)

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off.

  9. Newcastle will still have beliefpublished at 18:48 GMT 18 March

HT: Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (agg 4-3)

    Ciaran Kelly
BBC Sport reporter at Nou Camp

That half had everything - goals, drama and some cavalier defending.

It's a sucker punch for Newcastle United to go behind again with the final kick of the first half.

But the spirited visitors will still have a lot of belief after already coming back twice on the night.

They will certainly have further chances up against Barcelona's high defensive line.

The issue is can they keep Hansi Flick's side out at the same time?

  10. 'Still hope for Newcastle'published at 18:45 GMT 18 March

    HT: Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (4-3)

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

What a great game this is, and there is still hope for Newcastle in the second half.

The left-hand side has been unbelievable for them so far. Lewis Hall slips for Barcelona's first goal and that could get in your head easily, you can think it's one of those nights.

Instead he's been driving forward and is so dangerous down that flank... one of the hardest things to do is recover from a mistake like that, and he has done really well.

  11. 'What a half!'published at 18:42 GMT 18 March

HT: Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (agg 4-3)

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at Nou Camp

Keirian Trippier does hold Raphina back, all be it not for long. I think he's got away with a yellow there. It's a deliberate pull back, I'm baffled he's not seen red. At least for Newcastle they've still got 11 on the pitch.

It's really accurate from Lamine Yamal, Aaron Ramsdale goes the right away. What a half!

  12. Ramsdale will be 'gutted'published at 18:41 GMT 18 March

HT: Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (agg 4-3)

    Glenn Hoddle
Former England and Tottenham manager on TNT Sports

From this angle, Ramsdale is really upset with himself because he nearly had it. He got the tip of his fingers to it. He'll be absolutely gutted he didn't get that. He chose the right way but there was just enough power on the ball.

You just can't read this game. What the scoreline is going to be at 90 minutes, I don't know. Anything could happen here.

  13. Showman Lamine!published at 18:40 GMT 18 March

HT: Barcelona 3-2 Newcastle (agg 4-3)

    Elizabeth Conway
    BBC Sport Spanish football reporter

Lamine Yamal sits on the stands, hands on his hips, right in front of the photographers. He then does his standard dance towards the Barca supporters. What a showman! His 21st goal of the season.

Aaron Ramsdale goes the right way and gets fingertips to it but it's absolutely rifled into the bottom corner by Lamine Yamal and there's too much power on it for the Newcastle keeper to save.

An incredible first 45 minutes but Barcelona will take the advantage into the break.

  16. Postpublished at 18:37 GMT 18 March

    Barcelona 2-2 Newcastle (agg 3-3)

Oh hang on. Raphinha is the usual penalty taker when he is on the pitch but he's passed the ball to youngster Lamine Yamal, who scored from the spot last week at St James' Park...

Kieran Trippier goes into the book. Newcastle assistant coach Jason Tindall also works his way into the book for trying to interfere with the VAR process.

Even the best miss them at times. That is a horrible, horrible miss... he can't miss, but he does!

The best young player in the world and six yards out, that is awful!
