Vinicius Jr with a bright run down the left and he then hangs up a cross to the back post, it is headed down by Federico Valverde, Gonzalo Garcia goes for it and misses the ball and Arda Guler gets there before the goalkeeper to prod the ball into the net.

But an offside, by the width of a shoulder, rules it out, no goal.

Galatasaray keeper Ugurcan Cakir is equal to Manuel Locatelli's stinging drive but is a happy man to see Francisco Conceicao curl wide from the following corner.

Galatasaray are then able to get a grip of the game again and relieve some pressure.

Eduardo Camavinga creates some space for a strike at goal for Real from 25 yards, but it is always straight at away keeper Anatoliy Trubin, whose memorable goal against Real in the last seconds of the league phase took Benfica into this round in the most dramatic way possible.

In his 39th Champions League appearance, Aurélien Tchouaméni has his first goal in the competition from what was his 32nd shot in those matches.

By the way, there were only two minutes and 44 seconds between Benfica's opener and Real Madrid's equaliser.

There's nothing about keeping it tight, being condensed and organised.

    It's just a free-for-all.

That was a lovely finish. When you talk about technique, you can see the ball coming and you get your knee over the ball. Textbook technique.

    Steve McManaman

This time it's Benfica's defence at sixes and sevens. How many red shirts do they have back there?

And not one of them has picked up Tchouameni on the edge of the box.

    Normal service resumes.

Two goals in three minutes and Real instantly retake the overall lead. Good work from skipper Federico Valverde to make the pull-back and Aurelien Tchouameni runs on to it to guide a fine finish past Anatoliy Trubin from the edge of the penalty area.

A first Champions League goal for Tchouameni for Real - and it could prove to be a very important one.

Defensively, they're non-existent. It's quite surreal how Real have started a game of this magnitude.

It's brilliant football. Incisive one-touch football and they've done it a couple of times already.

You can't say they don't deserve it.

    Rafa Silva

Benfica bring it level on aggregate after only 14 minutes at the Bernabeu. Vangelis Pavlidis makes the cross from the right, Real defender Raul Asencio, sliding in, almost steers the ball into his own net, only for Thibaut Courtois to make a point-blank save.

But the rebound drops perfectly for Rafa Silva in acres of space and he takes a touch and then finishes from close range.

Real Madrid 0-0 Benfica (1-0 agg)

    Steve McManaman
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid winger on TNT Sports

Real Madrid are giving the ball away a lot. They're playing a risky game, they need to liven up a bit, bring some energy and get up the field.

At the moment they're relying on playing across the park to Vini Jr at all costs.

  14. 'Juve have started well'published at 20:14 GMT 25 February

    Juventus 0-0 Galatasaray (2-5 agg)

Federico Gatti and Teun Koopmeiners have both had decent chances to score for Juventus with headers early on in what has been a fairly open game.

At the other end Victor Osimhen goes close with an effort that has Mattia Perin scampering across his goal.

The hosts really need the first goal to fall their way.

As a defender, the player is sliding towards the ball, but what Vinicius does well is toe punt it and he wasn't looking for a shot.

It wasn't a dive but it was a clear attempt to earn a penalty.

    PSG 0-0 Monaco (3-2 agg)

A huge miss from Mamadou Coulibaly.

Maghnes Akliouche plays a great ball into the box and instead of firing into the roof of the net, Coulibaly's shot is high over the bar.

What a big chance to level the tie early on.

Real Madrid 0-0 Benfica (1-0 agg)

    Steve McManaman
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid winger on TNT Sports

Jose Mourinho hasn't been seen yet.

There was a plethora of press behind me expecting him to walk through from the lift into one of the private boxes.

He must be really good at hide and seek.

Vinicius Jr links up with Arda Guler and, with Nicolas Otamendi flinging himself at the ball, the Brazilian can only shoot wide under pressure in Real's first chance.

He wants a penalty, but he had already got his shot away before Otamendi's challenge wiped him out.
