    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

A nicely weighted through ball finds Ismeal Kabia but his effort is saved well by Sutton keeper Jack Sims.

Then, moments later, Shrewsbury's Anthony Scully thinks he has given the visitors the lead but his effort is again well saved by a sprawling Sims.

This FA Cup tie has a really nice ebb-and-flow to it now.

    Huge chance for Sutton!

It's an error from Shrewsbury's Sam Stubbs, whose heavy touch allows Jayden Harris in, but Shrewsbury keeper Will Brook comes out well to bail Stubbs out and the visitors clear the ball.

    Hairy moment for the Salopians.

    What an effort.

A really good strike from Lewis Simper that hit the crossbar.

That effort looked like it had every chance of going in.

Both sides have now hit the woodwork in this second half.

  4. BOTH TEAMS HIT THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:26 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

A long ball is hooked towards goal by the long leg of Shrewsbury's Will Boyle and the ball hits the top of the bar before Luca Hoole hits the outside of the post with the rebound.

Shrewsbury's Josh Ruffels is then booked for a coming together with Kai Jennings before Sutton's Lewis Simper then strikes the top of the Shrewsbury bar with a right footed strike from distance!

All action so far at the beginning of the second half!

  5. CLOSE!published at 18:22 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

A good hit from Anthony Scully who stings the palms of Sutton keeper Jack Sims from the free-kick.

First save that Sims has had to make that. Good start to the second period for the visitors, who have threatened more in the first minute of the second half than the whole of the first.

  6. SECOND HALF KICKS-OFFpublished at 18:20 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

We are back under way at Gander Green Lane, and within 30 seconds of the restart, Shrewsbury earn themselves a free-kick just outside the Sutton penalty area.

That is the best Swindon performance I have seen in 15 years. Bolton were very poor, but Swindon should’ve had six or seven.

    Finlay, Royal Wootton Bassett

Absolutely brilliant from Mansfield goalie Owen Mason saving three out of four Accrington penalties in the shootout. He’s a 21-year-old youth-teamer - well done young man.

The Sutton players must be thinking that this is the easiest game they have played all season.

They are getting so much time on the ball and playing some nice football.

  11. 'No fight from Shrewsbury'published at 18:06 GMT 6 December 2025

    HT: Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

    Jamie Tolley
Former Shrewsbury player on BBC Radio Shropshire

The only thing that Sutton will be disappointed in is that they have not tested Will Brook in the Shrewsbury goal.

I know they hit the bar and he had that one save from the header, but nothing apart form that for Brook to do.

Michael Appleton can't be happy with that first half. This is a big half-time for them.

There was no fight and no running.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:03 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

Half-time and despite Sutton's best efforts, we remain goalless in this one.

The home side have been on top from the outset, and would have broken deadlock if visiting keeper Will Brook did not superbly claw out a goalbound header from his own team-mate Sam Clucas, who was extremely lucky not to score an own goal.

Just before the break, Jayden Harris stabbed an effort from 18 yards out which rattled the crossbar for Sutton, who have so far left their League Two opposition off the hook.

Stay with us for the second half of this one.

  13. 'Shrewsbury have nothing to offer'published at 18:02 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

    Jamie Tolley
Former Shrewsbury player on BBC Radio Shropshire

That was really, really good play from Sutton. Quick, one touch football and a great chance, hitting the bar.

Shrewsbury really do have nothing to offer.

  14. INJURY TIMEpublished at 18:02 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

We are into two minutes of injury time at the end of the first half at Gander Green Lane.

  15. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:01 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

Oh, so close to 1-0 Sutton!

Again, its great football from the hosts. Lewis Simper finds himself in space and picks out Jayden Harris who stabs an effort from the edge of the box which crashes the underside of the bar and away from danger.

As close as you can get to a goal for the U's, and it would have given them a deserved lead at the break.

  16. Postpublished at 17:59 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

Sutton continue to play out from the back with confidence, unperturbed if the player they are passing to is marked or not.

There has been little goalmouth action to tell you about in the past 10 minutes or so, however.

  17. 'Sutton continuing to grow in confidence'published at 17:58 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

    Stuart Dunn
    Commentator on BBC Radio Shropshire

Sutton are continuing to grow in confidence in this one, they are getting all the time in the world on the ball.

Shrewsbury have created nothing of note going forward as of yet.

  18. 'Shrewsbury can't put passes together'published at 17:53 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

    Jamie Tolley
Former Shrewsbury player on BBC Radio Shropshire

Shrewsbury can't put three or four passes together, yet Sutton, who are in the league below, are able to play some great stuff out from the back.

  19. Postpublished at 17:52 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

A lovely pass around the corner from Shrewsbury's Anthony Scully sees the visitors break but George Lloyd gets caught playing a pass back to his teammate who had continued his run.

We have a brief break in play as Lloyd is seen to by the physio.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 17:47 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sutton 0-0 Shrewsbury

Sutton's Hayden Muller becomes his side's third player to receive a yellow card for a pull back on halfway.
