Doncaster's James Maxwell is clattered into from behind on halfway by Chesterfield forward Lee Bonis and the Spireites man goes into the book.

A striker's challenge, you might say.

  2. Postpublished at 20:45 GMT 6 December 2025

    Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

Luke Molyneux twists in the area and gets a shot away for Rovers but it's well blocked.

Jamie Sterry then keeps the move going and fires in a low and hard cross but Zach Hemming does well in the Chesterfield goal to make another crucial block.

Experienced midfielder and ex-Scotland international John Fleck, once of Rangers, Coventry and Sheffield United is on for Chesterfield.

Chesterfield swing in a corner and Doncaster keeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala can only push it down into the six-yard box.

A scramble ensues before it drops to Lee Bonis who tries to fire through the crowd but instead blazes well over the bar.

  5. Postpublished at 20:41 GMT 6 December 2025

    Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

Doncaster right-back Jamie Sterry hauls Chesterfield's Dylan Duffy to the ground as he tried to break forward but Sterry somehow escapes a booking. That's a second challenge he's made of similar ilk and got away with.

  6. Postpublished at 20:40 GMT 6 December 2025

    Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

A reminder that League Two clubs have already dumped out four League One sides in this second round.

Rovers were of course a fourth-tier side themselves last season and were twice beaten convincingly in the league by Chesterfield (5-2 and 3-0).

If the Spireites win tonight, it will still be another upset of sorts on paper.

    Lee Turnbull

Good work by Chesterfield down that right-hand side. Mandeville arrives late in the box, but just can't get a clean connection on it.

Great opportunity for the hosts at the start of this second half.

  8. Postpublished at 20:37 GMT 6 December 2025

    Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

An early chance at the start of this second half for Chesterfield as it's pulled back for Liam Mandeville by Dilan Markanday but Mandeville can't make a decent contact with it and drags the effort wide.

  11. Goals galore in this fixturepublished at 20:30 GMT 6 December 2025

    HT: Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

These two have produced plenty of goals in their previous three meetings before this FA Cup tie - 16 to be exact.

Six on Tuesday night in the EFL Trophy as Doncaster won 5-1, seven in February in League Two last season when Chesterfield won 5-2 and three for the Spireites in a win at Rovers in September 2024.

Another two already here to take that total to 18 and counting. Who's to say there won't be more in the second half?

You will of course need no reminding that clubs from the Premier League and Championship will enter the competition.

    HT: Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

    Lee Turnbull
Former Doncaster striker on BBC Radio Sheffield

The game is flowing really well, both sides are having a real go so far.

I think 1-1 is a fair result at the end of the half, both sides have had some good chances.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:18 GMT 6 December 2025

    Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

All square at the break. It took a little while to get going, but this FA Cup tie quickly sparked into life on the half-hour mark.

First, Chesterfield's top goalscorer Lee Bonis netted his sixth goal of the season in all competitions to give his side the lead, pouncing quickly on a rebound.

But just a matter of minutes later, Owen Bailey headed in his eight of the campaign from Luke Molyneux's brilliant cross from the right.

Entertaining watch and all to play for in the second half.

Both sides are trying to play a very high line, so both are having a lot of joy with balls in behind.

  19. 'Doncaster will have to be careful'published at 20:14 GMT 6 December 2025

    Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

    Lee Turnbull
Former Doncaster midfielder on BBC Radio Sheffield

With a lot of sides we see that they like to play out from the goalkeeper. If you can do it well you can bypass the press and create space but when it doesn't work, it can be dangerous.

So Doncaster will have to be careful.

  20. Postpublished at 20:13 GMT 6 December 2025

    Chesterfield 1-1 Doncaster

Both sides are playing some really good football and knocking it about well when in possession.

It's Doncaster's turn to go forward and Harry Clifton tries to thread a ball into a busy penalty area but it's cleared by Chesterfield.
