  1. A grudge match with a lot at stakepublished at 12:22 BST 25 April

    Grimsby v Swindon (12:30 BST)

Today's League Two match between Grimsby and Swindon goes far beyond a duel between sixth and seventh.

Both sides can confirm their own spot in the play-offs with a win, but while the Robins have another titanic clash against Chesterfield to come which could seal their place, Grimsby will want it all done and dusted here.

Swindon boss Ian Holloway has a not-so-friendly relationship with the Mariners, having parted ways from the club following a year's spell in 2020.

The Bristolian returned to management with Swindon in 2024 but while years have passed, Grimsby may not yet have forgotten or forgiven. Even current Grimsby boss David Artell admits Holloway is "a bit of villain" around Blundell Park.

So wouldn't it be nice for Mariners supporters if they could extend their season, forcing their old boss to sweat it out for one more game, on their own home soil?

  2. MK Dons aim for the top as Barrow hope to fend off Cambridgepublished at 12:20 BST 25 April

Bromley's loss to Salford City on Thursday gives MK Dons the chance to top the table today should they beat lowly Tranmere in the lunchtime kick-off.

It also means that Cambridge United will need a win against Barrow to regain their spot in the top three heading into the final weekend.

But Barrow have their own survival ambitions to think of. They could potentially leave the bottom two with as much as a point but could also see themselves relegated if they lose and Crawley Town and Newport County both earn three points.

There's many more permutations for Harrogate to see relegation today, with a loss meaning their fate could be in the hands of all four clubs above them.

Meanwhile, Grimsby and Swindon Town will duke it out for a confirmed place in the play-offs, with Chesterfield and Barnet both hoping to keep in touch.

  4. One change for Hatters; Two for Poshpublished at 12:16 BST 25 April

Stockport boss Dave Challinor makes one change to the Stockport side that lost to Mansfield last time out.

Che Gardner comes into the starting XI with Ben Osborn dropping to the bench.

Peterborough make two changes to the side that drew 1-1 against Burton.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan returns to start with Bolu Shofowok also given the nod with Cian Hayes and David Kamara dropping to the bench.

  5. Can Hatters maintain play-off place?published at 12:15 BST 25 April

Play-off hopefuls Stockport's 1-0 defeat by Mansfield Town on Tuesday ended a seven-game unbeaten league run and was their first loss at home in 2026.

Dave Challinor's side are fifth in League One with a game in hand on their rivals, however, with fellow play-off chasers Stevenage and Luton Town both picking up wins on the same evening, the Hatters will be looking over their shoulder as they seek to remain in the top six.

Peterborough will know they're not quite over the line yet regarding their safety in League One.

Posh are four points clear of the drop zone with a game in hand, so they are in a good place, and a win today will secure their safety.

Doncaster have made four changes from Wednesday's defeat to Lincoln.

Jay McGrath, George Broadbent, Tom Nixon and Darren Robinson come into for Jamie Sterry, Hakeeb Adelakun, Robbie Gotts and Harry Clifton.

Stevenage are unchanged from their 1-0 win over Barnsley in midweek.

  7. Boro have golden chance to exert play-off pressurepublished at 12:12 BST 25 April

Stevenage travel to Doncaster for a vital game in their chase for the League One play-offs at lunchtime.

The Boro are currently sixth in the table, level on points with fifth-placed Stockport, having played a game more, and three points above Luton, who are seventh.

Win this one and they could temporarily, at least, go above Bradford into fourth. Form is on their side, too, with just one defeat (5-1 at Bolton 11 days ago) and three wins in their last six.

Rovers have very little to play for having staved off the threat of relegation after promotion last year. They, too, have won three in six, but have also lost as many in that time too.

  8. Hatters and Boro aim to tighten play-off grippublished at 12:10 BST 25 April

With Lincoln and Cardiff sealing the top two League One spots, it's now all about the race for the play-offs and the final relegation spot.

We could see a reshaping of the play-off mix as Bradford host Bolton, with the Bantams looking to move up to third.

Stockport and Stevenage will need to do do their jobs if they want to tighten their play-off grip, with Luton firmly having a top-six finish in their sights while needing to take care of business against Barnsley.

At the other end of the table, Exeter have to win otherwise it could be curtains as far as their League One status goes.

But win and things could get very interesting as we head into the final games.

League Two has already seen one massive win this week.

Salford City took a 2-0 victory over leaders Bromley to break into the top three.

Good news for MK Dons, too. It leaves Bromley's long-held place at the top open to attack as the Dons prepare to face Tranmere in today's lunchtime kick-off.

  13. Welcome!published at 12:00 BST 25 April

    League One & League Two

Ready for the penultimate weekend of the EFL?

As expected, there's still so much to play for across the third and fourth tiers from promotion joy to relegation heartache.

Grimsby will provide an unfriendly welcome for former boss Ian Holloway as they take on his Swindon side in a straight shoot-out to earn a play-off spot.

MK Dons could sail to the top of the League Two table with a win over Tranmere, while Stockport and Stevenage will be aiming to strengthen their play-off positions over in League One.

And that's just the lunchtime kick-offs.

My, what a day we've got in store. Don't go anywhere, we've got build-up coming your way soon.
