    Birmingham 0-0 Sheffield United

    Early chance for the visitors.

Patrick Bamford is teed up inside the box but he whips his left-footed strike just wide of James Beadle's post.

Bit of team news to tell you about at St Andrew's and Blades keeper Michael Cooper misses out of the squad entirely with Adam Davies standing in in between the sticks.

The observation I placed earlier re: U's and Addicks was considered a pun. In actual fact it was the correct forecast... Never underestimate a pun.

Too true, June. Too true. Hat is being firmly tipped for that shout.

    Leicester 0-0 QPR

A bright start for the Foxes at the King Power as Divine Mukasa heads wide from a Luke Thomas cross.

QPR are on a hopeless run of form so a good chance for Leicester to earn a vital three points today.

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:05 GMT 14 March

    West Brom 0-0 Hull

Looks like a traditional 4-4-2 from interim Baggies boss James Morrison with Aune Hegebo and Josh Maja both starting up top for the home side.

Hull continue with a three at the back as Joe Gelhardt and Oli McBurnie lead the line for the Tigers.

And its the home side who have made the better start as Heggebo goes inches away from prodding Danny Imray's cross home from the right.

It's a good start from Albion.

There's a good tempo about the early stages of this game, you can hear the fans are right up for it.

They've got to keep this tempo going.

    Millwall 0-0 Blackburn

A real opportunity for Millwall after Middlesbrough's draw against Bristol City.

The Lions can move up to the automatic promotion places with a win over Blackburn at The Den.

Alex Neil's side have won four games in a row and they've made a good start to this game.

How do we do it? Why not play all our games away from the Riverside. We don't deserve an automatic spot.

The door is very much open for Millwall who have kicked off against Blackburn.

Gutted for Boro. But also pleased the players are on my wavelength. Why would we want to go up? Best league in the world.

While we wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment, John, we fear this comment is going to get more than a few thumbs-downs...

The sun is shining in South East London, The Den looking resplendent as Millwall’s promotion charge heats up.The hosts have won five of their last six Championship fixtures and welcome a Blackburn side who have lost in the same pattern. With differing battles at contrasting ends of the table, this is a huge fixture for both sides.

Rovers have proven tricky opposition for Millwall who have won just two of their last 20 league games against them.

With Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town both dropping points in midweek and Boro drawing earlier, Millwall remain right in the mix for automatic promotion with nine games of the season remaining.

The last few years have been a story of near misses for the Lions under Gary Rowett, Neil Harris and Alex Neil but they look all but certain of sealing a play-off spot, at least, with an 11-point cushion over seventh-placed Southampton (though Saints have a game in hand).

They face a Rovers side in desperate need of three points to pull away from the drop zone - currently just one point above Leicester United in 22nd place.

Blackburn have a good record in London, winning five of their past eight league trips to the English capital, and have won five of their past seven matches against Millwall.

  12. Ipswich aiming to keep in touch at the top endpublished at 14:55 GMT 14 March

Sheff Wed v Ipswich (15:00 GMT)

Sheffield Wednesday's off-field concerns continued this week with the prospect of a 15-point deduction for next season in League One if a deal with their new preferred bidder goes through.

On the field they were on the cusp of a first win in 30 on Tuesday before conceding in the 90th minute against Watford to draw 1-1 at Hillsborough.

The Owls remain on course to become the first Football League team ever to go a whole season without a home win, but they will have another opportunity to put that to bed today despite the season they have had.

Fourth-placed Ipswich's stuttering form continued in midweek after their 3-3 draw at Stoke when they conceded a penalty deep into stoppage-time.

Kieran McKenna's side are undefeated in five but that result was their second draw in a row leaving them three points behind Millwall, and five adrift of Middlesbrough in second, with 10 games to play.

The Tractor Boys have only lost two of their past 13 league visits to Sheffield Wednesday (W5 D6) and won 1-0 there on their last visit back in September 2023.

Clear blue skies, sun shining, temperatures in double figures. What’s the one thing you want for lunch? A good ol’ famous Birmingham Balti. Lovely, healthy serving it was too in the press box here.

Hoping things could get a little spicy on the pitch, too.

If Birmingham want to make that play-off push realistic they have to go for it this afternoon and build back to back wins after a run of three straight league defeats.

Sheffield United might just be the kind of opposition they need - licking their wounds after succumbing to a late Norwich City winner on Wednesday.

Patrick Bamford starts for the visitors. His record against The Blues… five goals in seven starts. As tasty as that Balti, that.

  14. Blues host Blades still dreaming of play-offspublished at 14:52 GMT 14 March

Birmingham v Sheffield United (15:00 GMT)

When Birmingham City fans left Bramall Lane after their side's 3-0 defeat by Sheffield United on 20 December, you could forgive them for thinking their season would peter out after Christmas.

That defeat left Blues 14th in the Championship standings, but a bright start to 2026 means they are now tenth with play-off ambitions still lingering around St Andrew's.

This afternoon they host a Sheffield United side who would have seen a play-off place as the bare minimum back in August.

But after a dismal start to the season under Ruben Selles, the returning Chris Wilder has managed to steer his boyhood club back up to 13th with a play-off place probably too far away, now 11 points adrift of sixth-placed Wrexham.

Wilder has won his last three Championship games against Birmingham City by an aggregate score of 8-0, however, and another win today would have permutations for the sides hoping to sneak into the top six.

  15. 'Ships passing in the night'published at 14:51 GMT 14 March

    Norwich v Preston (15:00 GMT)

These two could be like ships passing in the night by the end of this evening.

Preston North End are 14th in the table as we start but with flailing form (only one win in their last 11 games).

The hosts Norwich are one place lower, but are overseeing a late season rise from the relegation spots which would have seemed unthinkable before Philippe Clement took over.

  16. Hornets hoping to still have play-off in sightpublished at 14:50 GMT 14 March

    Stoke v Watford (15:00 GMT)

    Ed StillImage source, Shutterstock

Despite Milan Smit's last-gasp equalising penalty at home to Ipswich last time out, Stoke are winless in their past three games.

In fact the Potters have only managed to pick up one win in their past 11 matches as they slip further away from the play-off positions.

Interestingly, Mark Robins has only lost one of his past eight league matches against Watford (W2 D5) and he’s never lost two league games against the Hornets in a single season.

Watford head coach Ed Still has been in charge five games now tasting defeat just once as he looks to solidify his side.

They are in a better position than today's opponents to make those play-off places despite their hopes taking a blow after their 1-1 draw at already relegated Sheffield Wednesday in their last outing.

The Hornets have now drawn four of their past six games on the road after Vivaldo Semedo's 90th minute equaliser at Hillsborough.

A win today would see Watford complete a league double over Stoke after a 1-0 win at Vicarage Road back in December.

  17. 'Relegation battle hotting up'published at 14:49 GMT 14 March

    Leicester v QPR (15:00 GMT)

    Naz Premji
BBC Final Score commentator at the King Power Stadium

Gary Rowett's arrival has seen a bit of an upturn in Leicester's fortunes as they look to steer clear of the Championship drop zone. They are currently above the dotted line on goal difference and will look to put further daylight between themselves and those below with victory against QPR.

Julian Stephen's side arrive in the East Midlands in awful form - the R's have lost five out of the last six and face a team whose need for points is far greater then their own.

QPR did win the reverse fixture back in December and they will be looking to complete a first league double over the Foxes in 16 years. In fact Leicester's last home league win against today's visitors was 11 years ago.

The battle to stay out of the relegation zone is really hotting up and with Sheffield Wednesday already relegated the others are fighting hard to stay up and whatever happens today, this looks like it will go right down to the wire and for fans of Leicester they will be hoping they are well clear of it before any last day shenanigans.

Leicester's 2-0 victory over Bristol City was badly needed after a run of 10 games without a win the Championship.

Next up, it's Queens Park Rangers at King Power Stadium and an opportunity to pull further away from the relegation places.

The Rs have lost five of their past six games, including their last four in a row.

Julien Stephan's side are seemingly safe from relegation, with nine points separating them from the relegation zone.

West Brom v Hull (15:00 GMT)

A disastrous 2026 for West Bromwich Albion now has the Baggies second-bottom of the Championship table and in desperate need of three points against play-off hunting Hull City.

Interim boss James Morrison - the third man to take charge of Albion this season - has said in the build up to today's match that his side are preparing for a relegation dog fight.

That is exactly what they are in now following 13 league matches without a win - a run which goes all the way back to 29 December.

Hull City, meanwhile, bounced back from consecutive defeats in the Championship with an impressive win away at Wrexham in midweek.

The Tigers head to The Hawthorns looking for their first league double over the Baggies for 116 years (yes, you read that correctly), and have fit-again Oli McBurnie back at their disposal with the former Sheffield United striker scoring three goals in his last six matches against today's opponents.
