A very good afternoon from Wembley Stadium where we've just seen AFC Stoneham beat Cockfosters on penalties to win the FA Vase.

Southend United and Wealdstone are now warming up as we get ready for the FA Trophy final.

The Shrimpers have brought plenty of traveling fans, packing out the west end of the national stadium to our right.

The Stones have also brought a decent number of supporters, situated over to our left, mostly in the lower tier of the east side.

After an overcast morning the sun has now come out and it's lovely and clear.

Let's hope we get some goals in regulation time after a scoreless 90 minutes in the Vase earlier today.

  2. Triple change for Wealdstonepublished at 16:22 BST 17 May

Another skipper returns as part of three changes to the XI as Jack Cook starts for Wealdstone.

Dom Hutchinson and Nathan Tshikuna are the other names making the pitch.

Michael Adu-Poku and Jack Hinchy are available from the bench but there's no Charlie Waller in the squad.

  3. Wealdstone hoping to treat new owner to silver goodspublished at 16:20 BST 17 May

    Southend v Wealdstone (16:30 BST)

Wealdstone's end of season felt like a whimper.

On their final day of the National League season, the Stones helped Southend book a spot in the play-off eliminators after they were unable to claw back a 2-0 first half deficit despite a goal from Micah Obiero in the second.

In fact, new owner Nick Semaca has yet to see his side win since the American businessman completed his takeover in April (D2 L2).

But while the Shrimpers robbed Wealdstone of a party last month, they have the opportunity to reverse the roles today.

And it couldn't get much better for Semaca than to watch his new investment deliver silverware under Wembley lights weeks after his arrival.

  4. Southend change fourpublished at 16:18 BST 17 May

    Southend v Wealdstone (16:30 BST)

Captain Nathan Ralph returns to the XI for Southend as the side make a quadruple change from their final day match against Wealdstone.

Gus Scott-Moriss, Andy Dallas and Oliver Coker join him.

Sam Austin, Keenan Appiah-Forson, Charley Kendall and Joe Gubbins are all available from the bench.

  5. Will Southend avenge 2025 heartbreak?published at 16:16 BST 17 May

Southend United return to Wembley just under 12 months on from heartbreak.

Last season the National League play-off final saw Oldham Athletic beat them in a 3-2 thriller that went into extra time.

Shrimpers captain Nathan Ralph thinks that experience may help yield a better result.

"A lot of us have experienced it [Wembley] now - we've also experienced the way you don't want it to happen - and I think that will be fuel going into it, knowing we don't want to feel that feeling again," Ralph told BBC Essex.

"That will hopefully help us get the result we want."
