  5. Smit aiming to fire Potters to Premier Leaguepublished at 19:34 GMT 11 February

    Charlton v Stoke (19:45 GMT)

Striker Milan Smit says he joined Stoke City to play in the Premier League and to become a more "complete" player.

The Dutch forward, 22, moved to the Potters in the January transfer window on an initial loan deal until the end of the season from Go Ahead Eagles.

He has played twice so far, lasting 90 minutes on his debut against Southampton and the first half of the goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

And Smit told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm learning a lot. It's totally different here in England - the intensity level is much higher than in Holland and I want to develop myself more here as a complete player and striker."

Smit said it was a "pretty easy" decision to sign for Stoke, despite the lure of playing in Europe with his old club, who were competing in the Europa League after winning the KNVB Cup last season.

"It was a like a one-season thing to play in the Europa [League] and I always said I wanted to play in England," Smit said.

"I knew the ambitions of Stoke and their plan with me so I said to my agent 'yeah I want to go'. It was pretty easy.

"They said they wanted to go to the Premier League again - that's the ambition - and I'm really looking forward to playing in the Premier League with this club."

  6. Plenty at stake in showdown at The Valleypublished at 19:32 GMT 11 February

Charlton will hope to pull away from the Championship relegation zone when they welcome a Stoke side looking to reignite their play-off hopes after a dismal run.

The Addicks are four points clear of the bottom three and have lost just twice in their past seven games, earning eight points from that run.

Though they conceded five against Southampton at The Valley in November, Nathan Jones' side have allowed just nine further goals in their other 13 home games, keeping six clean sheets, including last time out in the stalemate against QPR on Friday night.

The Potters are without a win in their past five games, picking up just two points, and have won only four of their previous 17 matches (D4 L9), which has seen them tumble from second place on 4 November to 14th.

Mark Robins' men have actually won more points on the road than at the Bet365 Stadium this season and have seven clean sheets in 16 away games, including three in their past four, a run which has brought them eight points.

Feels like an 'only a win will do' kind of night, for both teams.

  7. Big three points on offer for different reasonspublished at 19:30 GMT 11 February

    Charlton v Stoke (19:45 GMT)

Barring something truly extraordinary Charlton will remain 18th no matter what happens tonight, but a win would haul them seven points clear of the relegation zone with 15 games remaining.

Stoke may have been in indifferent form and sit only four places above the Addicks, but three points tonight would catapult them back up to eighth, within a point of the play-offs, so tight is the middle of the Championship table.

  8. Swindon looking to close gap at League Two summitpublished at 19:28 GMT 11 February

Swindon will be looking to break back into the automatic promotion places tonight when they welcome a Newport County side hoping to push level on points with teams outside the relegation zone.

It has been a period of turmoil for Ian Holloway's side of late, as they had been on a four game losing streak before picking things back up towards the end of January and now find themselves searching for a fourth win in a row.

League Two top scorer Aaron Drinan has been in particulary inspired form, netting four goals in his last three games, taking his tally to 18 in total.

As for the visitors Newport County, they head across the border hoping to pick up their first away victory in the league since the 25 October.

Despite picking up a point in a goalless draw at home against Grimsby Town on Saturday, Christian Fuchs' men have only picked up four points out of a possible 18.

Swindon Town have won each of their last three league meetings with Newport County, only embarking on a longer winning streak against the Exiles once before in the Football League, winning four straight between December 1927 and May 1929.

  9. Two inform sides clash at Blundell Parkpublished at 19:26 GMT 11 February

    Grimsby v Accrington (19:45 GMT)

Grimsby will be looking to close the gap on the League Two play-off places to just one point, as they welcome an inform Accrington Stanley side to Blundell Park.

The Mariners are just four points off seventh place Walsall going into this one and will be full of confidence as they are yet to face defeat in 2026 (W5 D2).

Accrington Stanley, however, are also in fine form themselves, earning 10 points from a possible 12 (W3 D1), winning their last three games in a row, scoring eight and conceding just two.

A win for Stanley would see them overtake Grimsby and move into the top half of the table, putting themselves only two points off the top seven.

John Doolan recently celebrated his 100th game in charge of the club and will know that if he avoids defeat this evening, it will be four games on the road without a loss, Accrington's best away run since the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign.

    League Two

Swindon can return to the automatic promotion places in League Two and move into second, four points behind leaders Bromley, if they can see-off second-bottom Newport tonight

A win for Grimsby in their mid-table clash with Accrington would take the Mariners up to eighth, just a point outside the play-off places..

Southampton's astonishing comeback from 3-0 down to beat Leicester City 4-3 in the Championship last night reminded us all of the euphoria and agony this sport can deliver.

"It is tough to find the right words for this game," Saints head coach Tonda Eckert told BBC Radio Solent after the dramatic victory at the King Power Stadium. "You don't have many nights like this."

Eckert is right about the rarity of such an occasion.

It is the first time in 16 years any team has come from three goals down to win a game in the Championship - and just the eighth time across the entire EFL since it was rebranded in 2004.

With that in mind, BBC Sport casts a nostalgic eye over some of the best comeback wins in EFL history.

  12. About last night...published at 19:19 GMT 11 February

This is the sixth straight day of Championship action, and the table has changed quite a bit since the action began at The Valley on Friday night.

Middlesbrough's 2-1 win at Sheffield United on Monday night took Boro top of the pile for the first time since October as Coventry's wobble intensifies.

Last night saw Norwich pull further clear of the drop-zone with Mo Toure's debut hat-trick securing a thumping win at second-bottom Oxford United.

West Brom rode their luck at Birmingham and ground out a second consecutive goalless draw which left them two points clear of the bottom three and denied Blues a place in the top-six.

But most of the drama came at the King Power where Leicester led Southampton 3-0 inside half an hour, only for the visitors to pull one back just after the hour, score two in the final seven minutes of normal time to equalise and then go on to win it 4-3 in the 96th minute.

It leaves the Foxes outside the relegation zone by virtue of goal difference alone while Saints are within a point of the top-six.
