FT: Man City 2-2 Nottingham Forest

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We did everything, we could do a little better, but it is what it is."

What could you do better? "Score goals."

What things did you do well? "In general there were many good things.

"I would like to concede fewer, but it's not about analysing one specific action. I never point fingers at my players. We did everything, had the chances at the end and in first half. The momentum. But something always happens and we could not win."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to TNT Sports: "I am disappointed for the result. We did everything again, didn't concede much, had chances at the end and during the game, but yeah, we keep going.

"Always we try to do the best, how they run and do it. At home it's important [to win], but we keep going."

On City's penalty appeals: "Nothing to say."

On the title race: "On we go to Newcastle in FA Cup, Madrid Champions League, game-by-game.

"We are used to playing in lots of competitions. We have a lot of games to play, so we have to continue."

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick speaking to TNT Sports: "We are not happy the way we played tonight. The way the game panned out we had it in our hands largely but credit to Newcastle and they way they approached it, we knew it would be tough but we navigated the game to a position where we could kick on but we didn’t. Bitterly disappointed really.

"I don’t think it was the 10 men, we just didn’t play good enough. We can’t make excuses for that. We all take responsibility for that.

"It was just the quality of the performance, it wasn’t character or wanting to win, it’s easy to throw that just because you don’t win a game of football

"Newcastle deserved to win tonight, it hurts me to say that. That is how it was. We need to get back to work and be better for the next game.

"We’ve lost one game, we haven’t played well enough but in the grand scheme of things we are in a decent position. Tonight hurts but we will be better for the next one.

"You have to get back at it, work hard and do the things we did to win the games we’ve won. We can do that, we are a good team, tonight wasn’t for us.

"We have to learn from it and get better for it. We had a lot of praise lately and the boys deserve it, this doesn’t change how we approach the next game. We’ve got everything to play for."

  4. 'I thought we deserved to win'published at 22:47 GMT 4 March

    FT: Newcastle 2-1 Man Utd

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "An amazing night. It was a great performance all the way through. 11 v 11 or 11 v 10. I thought we deserved to win.

"The main emotion was trying to work out how we'd play in that second half. We wanted to regroup. I thought Jacob Ramsey's sending off was really harsh. I don't think he's looking for a penalty there.

On Anthony Gordon: "He's turned into a very good penalty taker for us. He earned the penalty himself with a typical driving run. I think the pairing of Gordon and Elangha gave them trouble in the second half.

"We knew we wouldn't have the majority of the ball and that we'd have to defend well. There have been a lot of questions about our defending lately, so it was a good opportunity to answer those questions and we did.

"At 10 men, you know your goalkeeper is going to have saves to make. He's a top-class goalkeeper with really good experience.

On Will Osula's winner: "He did 10 shots at the end of training and he wanted more. Fair play to him. It's the desire to repeat and to practice. He's delivered an amazing moment for the supporters here. It's a great moment for him and he deserves it. Hopefully it's a turning point for him.

"A big moment for us. We've proved we're competitive against any team."

  5. 'Massive win'published at 22:44 GMT 4 March

    FT: Newcastle 2-1 Man Utd

    Newcastle United

Newcastle goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, speaking to TNT Sports on his view of the winner: "I just carried on running, almost fell over and saw the net rippled. I did a knee slide on my own. I'm delighted for him [William Osula], he's got every attribute, he needs to believe in himself a bit more but he's done it tonight and he's won us the game."

On his performance tonight: "Really enjoyable. I've had opportunities which it's been tough to get this year and hopefully today I've helped with this man to get three points and it's about kicking on, and we wanted to be resilient and with 10 men we may as well have had 13 men with the crowd. It's been an excellent night for us."

On how big it is winning before some big home games coming up: "Massive. I think I saw a stat that we've not had a free midweek since the November international break. We've been down to our bare bones, at time we've been working as hard as we can, haven't got the results. We've got some huge games to look forward to and that's what the fans want, it's what we want as players. We're not going to complain about it but we need to stand up and be counted for now."

Manchester United goalkeeper Senna Lammens speaking to TNT Sports: "That is always a bad feeling to lose, just in general today was not our day. It was nowhere near good enough.

"We scored our goal just before half-time and it was really important to give us a good feeling going into half time.

"When we step out on the pitch for the second half it needs to be better, I think our mentality needs to be better. In every aspect it was not our game today.

"I’m not sure what we were lacking. Every team has those games, but you can’t put it like that you always have to perform, especially here.

"Heading into half-time we had a pretty good feeling because we scored and playing against 10 men you want to finish it off, we couldn’t get our rhythm going and we need to learn a lot from this."

On Jacob Ramsey getting a second yellow after going down when Lammens came out: "I didn’t feel any contact, I don’t think it was a foul. He was looking for the contact, I was holding myself in and I think the ref made the right decision."

On United needing to respond: "I mean look we have to learn a lot from today but we have to look through it. Everyone has an off day, we had a collective off day which you can’t really do at a place like this. We need to go back to the basics of before. Hopefully this is just a one off, we can learn from this, get the momentum again and get back to winning."

  7. 'It's the best fanbase in the world'published at 22:38 GMT 4 March

    FT: Newcastle 2-1 Man Utd

    Newcastle United

Newcastle matchwinner Will Osula, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I was training that yesterday in the training drill. I only had one thing on my mind, thank God it went in. I know I can take the players on and have end product.

"It was testing my pace a bit that ball in behind but I got there and happy with my end product.

"I was doing it yesterday and I was pretty consistent. It's true that habit pays off.

"It's so loud in this stadium, St James' Park. It's the best fanbase in the world. It's top."

  8. 'All John Brooks' decisions on VAR were against us'published at 22:35 GMT 4 March

    Fulham

Marco Silva, Manager of Fulham, looks onImage source, Getty Images

Fulham boss Marco Silva, speaking to BBC Match of the Day on it being a very frustrating evening for him: "For many different reasons, first of all for the result and we lost the game. Definitely didn't deserve much more from the game and so many incidents that dictate the result the result this evening.

"For me, it's clear firstly to talk about ourselves and the goal we conceded we gave a goal basically at this level if you want to win football matches you cant. And of course after the incident the referees decision were at a very low level in my opinion. Not at the level a game like this one, decisive games in this moment in the season should be and have the impact of VAR. And John Brooks with Fulham Football Club, he was on VAR and he was able to decide against the referee decision on the pitch is unbelievable.

"It has been a little bit the story of our season when John Brooks is involved with us. It was very unlucky again with the decision when he was not on the pitch, a decision that he took in the office looking for the decision.

"Many, many incidents that the game can be in our direction,. Even the penalty, I repeat again John Brooks took and decided against the on-field decision. Very difficult to understand mistakes in games against ourselves, but it is what is is. We have to respect. We have to do it. We cannot control.

"All the decisions, they were against us."

  9. 'Best feeling ever'published at 22:32 GMT 4 March

    FT: Newcastle 2-1 Man Utd

    Newcastle United

Newcastle matchwinner William Osula, speaking to TNT Sports on how he felt when he saw his shot hit the back of the net: "That was the best feeling ever. I was so happy for that. When I came on I just prayed that I was going to score and make something happen and thank God that that happened.

"I was practicing that in training yesterday, just cut in and finish it, so the hard work paid off."

On the message to him at half-time: "What I got told what to do was come in and make an impact on the game. Glory to God that's what happened today."

  10. 'Together we can do it'published at 22:29 GMT 4 March

FT: Man City 2-2 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I'm very proud of my players and supporters. We came to play our game, try and be organised, waiting for the time to attack, and we did well. We scored two fantastic goals. We competed for the points, trying to win the game. They tried to win the game. We had a good spirit, we need that for the next games."

On what he told his players at half-time: "I told them to understand the spaces they [City] were conceding to us. To take the ball from the pressure and find the spaces. And risk a bit, take risks, football is not just about organisation, it's about talent and feeling confident to express themselves.

"We don't need just talent, but characters. They have spirit. Together we can do it [avoid relegation].

"First half was more conservative, good origination, try to be compact, wait for the moment to go and counter. But that isn't enough just to defend and counter isn't enough, you have to have ball. That's what I asked for the second half, quality to play with ball not jut without ball.

"What we proved today was each game is an opportunity to get points. I don't care if it's City away, another club away or another club at home. We can't decide that this game is not posible to get points. We must go with mentality that we can get win."

  11. 'We are in a bad moment'published at 22:27 GMT 4 March

    FT: Aston Villa 1-4 Chelsea

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “Chelsea played a fantastic match and the first half was the key. We were defending and trying to recover the ball but they had a very good structure and combinations and were creating chances. When they scored the second goal the match changed a little bit.

“After the third and fourth it was more difficult. There is still three points difference between them and us but now we are in a bad moment.

"Now we have time to recover it and the only way I know is by finding solutions to recover confidence, our energy and tactical structure. This is now my concern. We have two months in front with Europe to play as well."
