Fulham's season is following a similar pattern to their previous campaigns since promotion in 2022 – sat comfortably mid-table or higher heading into March, with aspirations of qualifying for Europe for the first time since 2011.

They've eventually settled for final league positions of 10th, 14th and 10th again, but could it be different this time?

Last Sunday's victory over Spurs left Fulham in ninth place, behind Everton by the narrowest of goal difference. Eighth could be enough for European qualification this season.

If they are to achieve that target, their difference maker could be Harry Wilson. The in-form winger is a minor fitness doubt to face West Ham after being substituted with an ankle injury at the weekend but only after he'd registered his ninth goal and sixth assist in the Premier League this season. No Fulham player has been directly involved in more goals in a top-flight campaign since Dimitar Berbatov provided 15 goals and three assists in 2012-13.

Wilson, who is out of contract this summer, is reaping the benefits of regular football; he has played 83% of the available minutes in 2025-26, having never before reached 50% in a Premier League season. His impact has been particularly strong over the past 15 top-flight games, during which his 13 goal involvements was only bettered by Bruno Fernandes and Erling Haaland.

  2. Team news - Wilson misses out through injury, Wilson returns for Hammerspublished at 18:19 GMT 4 March

Fulham v West Ham (19:30 GMT)

Manager Marco Silva has made four changes to the team that defeated Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, with Antonee Robinson, Samuel Chukwueze, Tom Cairney and Josh King coming in for Harry Wilson (injured), Emile Smith Rowe, Ryan Sessegnon and Oscar Bobb.

Fulham: Leno, Tete, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Cairney; Chukwueze, King, Iwobi, Jimenez

Subs: Lecomte, Castagne, Andersen, Sessegnon, Reed, Lukic, Bobb, Smith Rowe, Muniz

West Ham: Hermansen, Wan-Bissaka, Disasi, Todibo, Diouf; Bowen, Soucek, Fernandes, Summerville; Wilson Castellanos

Subs: Areola, Walker-Peters, Kilman, Mavropanos, Adama, Lamadrid, Magassa, Scarles, Kante

Nuno Espirito Santo has also shuffled his pack ahead of tonight's game at Craven Cottage, with Jean Todibo and Callum Wilson replacing Konstantinos Mavropanos and Soungoutou Magassa.

The last two Premier League matchdays have seen Manchester City play before Arsenal.

On both occasions Pep Guardiola's side won to cut the Gunners' lead at the top to two points, but twice Arsenal responded with victories.

Tonight they both play at the same time, City at home to Nottingham Forest and Arsenal away to Brighton.

These are tense times at Villa Park. What started as a wobble has escalated into a collapse of form. Ponderous, passive and profligate, Aston Villa's recent displays have worrying echoes of their early-season malaise when it took them five league games to score and six to win.

Unai Emery's side are perhaps fortunate their current run of two wins, five goals and nine points from eight matches has not been punished more heavily by the chasing pack in the hunt for a Champions League spot.

Nonetheless, Villa had an eight-point cushion in third place early in the year but could find themselves only three points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea by full-time. There were 12 points between the sides seven games ago.

Another failure to qualify for the Champions League would be both a sporting and financial calamity for the Birmingham club. The subdued atmosphere at Villa Park of late is a reflection, in part, of the anxiety felt by supporters who are acutely aware that key players will be sold, with limited scope to reinvest in the squad, if Villa don't return to Europe's premier club competition.

MOTD pundits on if they'd rather hunt or be hunted in a title race

This season's Premier League title race is finely poised and set for a thrilling conclusion.

Arsenal, without a championship in 22 years, have nine games to go and hold a five-point lead over Manchester City, who have won the league in six of the past eight campaigns.

City have a game in hand and host the Gunners in April, meaning either team will win the league if they win all their remaining matches.

In 11 of the past 30 seasons, the teams that have been top after 28 matches have not won the Premier League title, with Arsenal failing to do so when leading in both 2023 and 2024.

So who will be feeling under the most pressure? Is it better to be the hunted or the hunter?

"It's better to be chased," said Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer, who won the league with Blackburn in 1994-95, a year after Rovers missed out to Manchester United.

"When you are at the top of the league it's in your hands and if you keep winning your games, as difficult as it is, the teams that are chasing you don't have any answers.

"It does depend on if you have been in that position before. In my second year at Blackburn we were top or second, it was slipping and sliding backwards and forwards. But because we had not been in that situation before and Manchester United were a team that had been successful then it was more difficult for us.

  7. Newcastle need spark in season-defining six dayspublished at 18:08 GMT 4 March

    Newcastle 0-0 Man United

    Ciaran Kelly
BBC Sport reporter at St James' Park

This is a pivotal night in a season-defining six days for Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe’s side are set to face Manchester United in the Premier League before taking on Manchester City in the FA Cup and Barcelona in the Champions League.

All in the space of less than six days.

Getting up for the cup competitions has not necessarily been the issue this season, but 13th-placed Newcastle desperately need a spark to ignite their faltering league campaign.

In truth, they are running out of games to find one.

But this fixture has tended to bring out the best of Newcastle in recent years, and Howe’s team so often raised their game against Manchester United at St James’ Park.

When Howe urged his side to “give it to them” in 2023, Newcastle did just that and it feels like the leaky hosts need to rediscover such a spirit following three straight league defeats on their own turf.

"It's always a massive game in the history of Newcastle United and Manchester United," defender Kieran Trippier writes in his programme notes.

"I think it's a fixture that speaks for itself."
