    Humphries v Clemens

    Mark Webster
Former BDO world champion on Sky Sports

Luke Humphries has looked comfortable on the stage. I expect him to deal with this stage and this tie should suit Humphries and he'll get through drama-free for me.

    Humphries v Clemens

Up next, the second seed, 2024 world champion and this year's Premier League winner Luke Humphries.

Humphries is clear favourite against unseeded Gabriel Clemens - but the German is a former semi-finallist at Ally Pally.

Let's see whether Clemens can get Cool Hand hot under the collar.

    Van Veen 4-1 Razma

    Wayne Mardle
Former World Matchplay finalist on Sky Sports

That was a good performance from Gian van Veen but it wasn't as consistent as he would have liked. He is now a bonafide contender to win this tournament.

  4. 'I'm not really proud of this performance'published at 20:17 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 4-1 Razma

Gian van Veen talking to Sky Sports: "I started off really well. I really fell off in the fourth leg. Maybe in my head I thought I was through now but it isn't what you want to think, but thankfully I got the job done in the fifth set.

"My darts weren't sitting at the right angle. It was frustrating. But I got the job done and that is the main thing. I'm not really proud of this performance but an average of 98 I have to be happy with."

    Van Veen 4-1 Razma

    Mark Webster
Former BDO world champion on Sky Sports

In a way that is more impressive from Gian van Veen. An average of almost 98 is almost his B-game, but it is becoming his norm.

This is another night when Gian van Veen has shown how dangerous he is to the title contenders.

  7. Van Veen into round fourpublished at 20:11 GMT 28 December 2025
    Breaking

    Van Veen 4-1 Razma (3-0)

Secured with his highest checkout of the match!

Even when Van Veen is not at his best, he averages 98 and rattles in 20 100-plus visits.

He remains a major title contender.

  8. Postpublished at 20:11 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-1 Razma (2-0)

That little spark we saw from Razma in the last set has been totally snuffed out.

    Van Veen needs 125...

  9. Postpublished at 20:09 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-1 Razma (2-0)

Gian van Veen has the body language of a man not happy with his own level of performance. But Razma isn't offering much more - he's just flopped in a visit of 23.

GVV sets up the Big Fish, which he has reeled in already this fortnight... not this time.

But when Razma can't finish 118, Van Veen nails tops to move a leg from round four.

  10. Postpublished at 20:07 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-1 Razma (1-0)

And this is better from Van Veen, leaving himself a 42 finish on his throw with Razma nowhere in sight.

A return to normality for GVV.

  11. Postpublished at 20:06 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-1 Razma (0-0)

Gian van Veen, after averaging 102 in set three, dropped to 84 in set four. He needs to up his game and sharpish.

  13. Reeling in the Big Fishpublished at 20:02 GMT 28 December 2025

While we haven't seen any nine-darters yet, we have seen plenty of 170 checkouts - the highest finish possible in darts.

Nicknamed the 'Big Fish', here are all the players who have nailed a 170 finish so far:

    • Rob Cross
    • Gabriel Clemens
    • Brendan Dolan
    • Dirk van Duijvenbode
    • Krzysztof Ratajski
    • Nathan Aspinall
    • Joe Cullen
    • James Wade

  14. Razma wins set fourpublished at 20:00 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-1 Razma (0-3)

A 180 for Razma, and the crowd respond. They were getting on his back a bit, and are enjoying the fact that a contest may now be developing.

Gian van Veen meanwhile is getting frustrated - his form has totally deserted him in this set.

Razma lands an 80 finish, and from nowhere takes a set to none against one of the tournament favourites.

Madars Razma is showing a bit of resistance here.

  16. Postpublished at 19:58 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-0 Razma (0-2)

Gian Van Veen has not hit the heights in this fourth set, while Madars Razma is landing a few more trebles.

This isn't welcome though - a bounce out for Razma after single one, single 19.

But he recovers to finish 82 and break GVV. Suddenly, the underdog is throwing for a set.

  17. Postpublished at 19:55 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-0 Razma (0-1)

    Mark Webster
Former BDO world champion on Sky Sports

Gian van Veen has progressively got better and you can't see anything other than him closing this match out comfortably.

  18. Postpublished at 19:55 GMT 28 December 2025

    Van Veen 3-0 Razma (0-1)

Van Veen has gone from 98 average in set one, to 100, to 102 in set three. Easing through the gears.

Razma meanwhile throws a maximum, and spreads his arms wide in ironic celebration.

Indeed, he's on a Shanghai finish... but can't land tops.

No steal though from GVV, meaning Razma ends a five leg losing run.

Another maximum to start the next leg, Van Veen is in the mood. Does he fancy a nine-darter before this evening is out? He's averaging 102 too.

Razma has the body language of a man already beaten, and is applying absolutely no pressure on Van Veen who is able to tee up whatever finish he likes.

Here he sets up three at tops, even with Razma on a finish - he knows the Latvian isn't getting 167.

Razma doesn't, and GVV is three up.
