Gian said he was massively off it in his last game and he still averaged 98. If he plays to a high standard, Charlie Manby will do well to get one or two sets.
There are levels here. Charlie Manby is a quality player, but Gian van Veen is world-class.

I don't think we've seen the best of Gian van Veen yet - I know he had the one really good match.
He can live with and does beat the very best players in the world.
He's feeling like he is the best player, I'm sure, because you can't be that good and perform that well without feeling you're the best and you're going to win.

And yes, you'll be pleased to know his girlfriend has managed to get some annual leave and be at the Ally Pally tonight.

So close to our first 9 of the year! I've got a feeling tonight is the night though, either Van Gerwen or Manby to top off an amazing debut World Championship so far!

So, we still haven't had the pleasure of witnessing a nine-darter but we did see Luke Woodhouse miss the double 12 earlier for one.
Every chance we get there tonight.
Result: Hood 4-0 Rock
Justin Hood spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live after his victory against Josh Rock:
"I've never experienced anything like it. To have people chanting your name like that and being on your side like that is an amazing feeling. Long may it continue."
On facing Michael van Gerwen or Gary Anderson in the quarter-finals on Thursday:
"They're legends of the sport but if they beat me, they've got to earn it. I'm not worried about either of them."

It's the sort of story you expect to see from a relative unknown in the first round, possibly a second round, but not to get into the quarter-finals.
This is the way he [Justin Hood] has been, though, and he's maintained it match after match. He found his best game today.
He's certainly one to watch because he's so fun.
Result: Hood 4-0 Rock
Justin Hood is the man of the moment.
The debutant stepped on to the Ally Pally stage earlier, eliminated 11th seed Josh Rock and was even 11 from 11 on doubles at one point. He didn't miss one until he was throwing for the match.
The quarter-finals await as he gets closer to opening his Chinese restaurant.
