I think Anderson has played some of the best darts in the tournament. I think MVG is toast

Michael van Gerwen's walk-on is class. Love it when the lights all go green.

Image source, PA MediaGian is one of those who could possibly go on and win the title. That's beyond Charlie for now - maybe not in the years coming. He reacted really well to being 3-1 behind and that is testament to him, it will stand him in good stead. Now he's got to do the hard work and go to Q-School [to earn a PDC Tour card] - that's the really hard work.
In a short space of time, Gian has gone from being someone on the cusp and ready to go 'bingo', now he's won the Europeans and he can go 'bingo' at any time. He can win anything. He doesn't need to play his best game to win big games and he did it again there.
Van Gerwen v Anderson
It's Gary Anderson making his way to the Ally Pally stage first. The crowd is well up for this one as expected.

Gary Anderson has it. He’s played excellently all tournament. I don’t think there will be any MVG magic tonight.

We all like to reminisce and it would be taking us back to their vintage days, for them to go up there, hit 140s, 180s, nine-darters - we want to see it because that's how we remember them playing all the time.
But time has moved on. They're not as consistent as they used to be. Michael, when he finds it, is deadly. Gary is deadly right now. If he can carry on then Michael will be in trouble.
I just want them to remind us that they can win another world title.
Van Gerwen v Anderson
Feels a little strange that Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson are playing each other in the fourth round.
Always feel like this is a semi-final or final type of match.
They met in the 2017 final, with Van Gerwen winning on that occasion and denying Anderson a third successive world title.

Reckon MVG has the beating of Gary Anderson tonight. I reckon Gary will give Michael a run for his money but I think MVG will just pull that something extra out of the hat tonight.

Result: Manby 1-4 Van Veen
Gian van Veen, speaking to Sky Sports after his 4-1 win over Charlie Manby:
"Scoring-wise, I was a bit up and down. It was good in some legs - I started off so many legs with 180s and in some I followed up with a 180, in others I followed it up with 58 or 60. Some good finishes got me through in the game.
"I'm looking forward to the game between Luke Humphries and Kevin Doets and I'll be awaiting the winner. For me, I'm happy to get through to the quarter-final and the rest is a bonus. I'm going to be enjoying my game in the quarter-finals and who knows where we'll go."

A classy performance from Gian. He was threatening nine-darters from the outset and on three occasions at least we thought we might get to see a full attempt.
That aside, he bullied the scoring. He was out-doubled early on and that gave Manby half a chance, but he couldn't keep up that precision. Van Veen pulled away with the superior scoring on the whole.

Two 14-dart legs from Gian van Veen in this set. Very, very hard to live with that.
