  1. WI 83-4published at 11 overs

Much better from Liam Dawson this time as Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford look to wrest back some momentum for West Indies.

England will be delighted at the halfway stage to have seen the back of some of the danger players in West Indies' team. England now need to see it out in these next 10 overs.

  3. WI 79-4published at 10 overs

We are halfway through this innings.

England are firmly on top at the moment and have West Indies reeling.

It was the googly from Adil Rashid, and Roston Chase went back on his stumps and chopped all around it. Ideally in that situation you want your partner to tell you that you are in strife rather than use up the review.

Chase lbw Rashid 34 (WI 77-4)

Red, red and red - it would've gone on to clip the leg stump.

Undone by Adil Rashid's googly, Roston Chase has to walk back as West Indies lose the batter who has been in some rhythm here.

    That's the England spinner's 400th wicket in T20 cricket.

It only has to be clipping as well.

From where we were looking that looked stone dead.

  8. Umpire reviewpublished at 9.2 overs

    WI 77-3

Adil Rashid traps Roston Chase in front of the wicket and there is a big shout from the England players.

The decision from the on-field umpire is out but Chase sends it upstairs for a review.

Liam Dawson is such a canny bowler. He was on the big reasons beat Nepal here the other night. It's great to see him getting his chance in a World Cup.

Intelligent batting from Roston Chase and Sherfane Rutherford in that over, though.

  10. WI 64-3published at 9 overs

England will want Liam Dawson to rein in West Indies through these middle overs.

But he doesn't find much success in his first over as the left-arm spinner concedes 10 runs.

Sherfane Rutherford has had a superb start to 2026: 12 innings, 351 runs, 58.50 average, 166 strike rate.

Both his average and strike rate this year are higher than in any other calendar year of his career.

  12. WI 64-3published at 8 overs

While Sherfane Rutherford is yet to get going at the other end, Roston Chase continues to power on.

He hoicks Jamie Overton's penultimate delivery for four through backward square to move to 27 from 25 balls.

  13. WI 59-3published at 7.2 overs

Roston Chase mistimes his pull and it almost carries to Will Jacks at mid-wicket.

The England fielder hits the stumps at the non-striker's end with a direct hit but Chase is home and safe.

There was plenty of spin on offer in the first game at the Wankhede stadium - 2.3° of spin was found on average, which is the joint most spin seen at any venue of the tournament so far.

Adil Rashid is into the groove and asking questions. He looks such a different bowler this evening. An excellent start from him.

  16. WI 58-3published at 7 overs

Adil Rashid is into the attack for the first time today and Roston Chase almost drags one onto his stumps.

Only three runs from the leg-spinner's first over and he had the West Indies batter sweating there.

Groundstaff are already going around the outfield with a rope to try and clear up any dew. A good start from England could be helped further if they get easier batting conditions later.

  18. WI 55-3published at 6 overs

That's the end of powerplay and Harry Brook, in the slips, dives full length to deny new batter Sherfane Rutherford from opening his account straightaway.

A bit quicker than Shimron Hetmyer expected and it's not an easy catch when it goes that high so Sam Curran has done well. Hetmyer and Roston Chase were motoring along but Jamie Overton has put the brakes on.

The nature of the game would be does Shimron Hetmyer need to do that? But that's the way he plays.
