This World Cup has certainly come alive with Afghanistan game earlier today. I think this will be close and England just winning it.

I think Shai Hope's eyes have lit up and had it hit the middle of the bat it would have gone to the boundary but there's a little bit of movement and it came off the splice instead.

    Hope c Banton b Archer 0 (WI 8-1)

Jofra Archer strikes in the first over!

It is a bit short and wide from the England seamer but Shai Hope has a waft at it and it carries straight into the grateful hands of Tom Banton at cover.

The West Indies captain departs without troubling the scorers.

  4. WI 7-0published at 0.3 overs

More runs in extras for West Indies as Jofra Archer's second wide of the over runs all the way to the boundary.

Shai Hope has a swing at it, wicketkeeper Jos Buttler dives to his right and Jamie Overton at slip waves his arms but it misses all three of them!

There has been plenty of chat about the needle and relationship between teams at this tournament but you won't see two sides friendlier with each other than England and West Indies.

There were hugs all around during the warm-ups and plenty of mutual respect in the press conferences and interviews yesterday.

It helps that they play each other so often, especially in this format. They have contested four T20 series since the start of 2022 with England winning the last two.

  6. WI 2-0published at 0.2 overs

Jofra Archer begins with a wide down the leg side.

But he gets it right on the second attempt before Brandon King opens his account with a single down to third.

It's a new pitch for this game but I can see a few footmarks on it so it's clearly been used at some point in the not-too-distant past.

I get the sense it will be better than the pitch from the other night given there's some decent carry from Jofra Archer's first few deliveries.

The teams are out and it’s Brandon King and Shai Hope who will open the batting for West Indies.

Hope, the Windies captain, along with King will hope to set the tone early here at the Wankhede.

Jofra Archer will open the attack for England with the new ball.

Slightly contradicting what Harry Brook said at the toss, there is a slight advantage to batting first here at the Wankhede - 60% of games have been won by the side batting first since the start of last year.

England will be looking to restrict the West Indies to less than 195, which is the average winning first innings total.

Harry Brook mentioned the batting there and they need to have conversations about the poweplay overs given that's what Luke Wood was in for.

Maybe they are looking for Liam Dawson and Will Jacks to pick up some of that slack while Jamie Overton will bowl the middle overs and be handy to play some shots batting at eight.

England were relieved after the win over Nepal but they will take great hope they stayed calm. Harry Brook as captain and Sam Curran stayed cool when everything was stacked up against them. Even though on paper they should have beat them it will give them some heart.

England were far from convincing in their opening win against Nepal here only three days ago, so they will look for a statement win today.

They needed Sam Curran to defend 10 from the last over to deny an inspired Nepal the biggest win in their cricketing history and save England from more misery.

The brilliant Lokesh Bam needed to hit the last ball for six to secure victory but only managed one.

Lokesh, who finished on 39 not out from 20 balls, dropped to his haunches at the finish as England's players shook his hand to congratulate his efforts.

He had looked to be taking his side to victory when he struck two sixes to take Jofra Archer for 22 in the 18th over before swiping Luke Wood for another two fours in the 19th.

But England hung on - the recently-recalled Curran finding yorkers under pressure at the death.

"We've got to make sure we bring our A-game tonight."

West Indies make one change with Roston Chase replacing Matthew Forde.

England captain Harry Brook: "We're going to have a bowl first. We looked at the stats here and it favours the team batting second so we want to chase.

"It's all about staying cool and sticking to our processes.

"Jamie Overton comes in for Luke Wood. He gives us a little bit of extra batting."

Word is there has been a fair bit of dew when teams have trained under the lights here. If so, chasing should be easier.
