    Dickson c Bairstow b White 0 (Glamorgan 21-3 v Yorks)

A duck on debut for Sean Dickson as Yorkshire strike again at Sophia Gardens.

Dickson takes two steps down the track to try and negate Jack White's seam movement but it doesn't work and Jonny Bairstow dives to his right to take a superb catch in front of first slip.

  3. Postpublished at 17:05 BST 3 April

    Durham 297-9 v Kent

Kasey Aldridge has been trying everything to secure a second batting point for his new side.

He wheels away in frustration as he misses an attempted uppercut over the cordon to end the latest over from Keith Dudgeon, who is on the hunt for a fivefer.

It means Kemar Roach is back on strike for the next over from Glenton Stuurman.

The wonderful nuance of the Championship, games and subplots within a match.

  4. Division Two updatepublished at 17:05 BST 3 April

Martin Andersson and Luis Reece have posted a 100 partnership for Derbyshire, who are now 297-4 against Worcestershire at the Co-op County Ground. Andersson is 83 not out and Reece has 49.

Leus du Plooy continues to lead Middlesex's resistance against Gloucestershire - he has 81 out of their 219-5 in the 72nd over.

    Goldsworthy c Verreyne b Lord 18 (Som 245-5 v Notts)

Rob Lord strikes as Lewis Goldsworthy nibbles at one outside off stump, one he could have left.

A deserved wicket for young Lord who has toiled away.

Craig Overton gets a beauty from him first ball he just misses too.

  6. Postpublished at 17:02 BST 3 April

    Warwicks v Surrey 234-7

Collective intake of breath and hands on heads all round as Ben Foakes flashes a drive at one from Jordan Thompson which just misses the inside edge.

Foakes turns away to regain his composure while Thompson stalks back to his mark with a face darker than the sky above Birmingham, which has seen the Edbgaston lights turned on.

  7. Postpublished at 16:58 BST 3 April

    Warwicks v Surrey 230-7

Beau Webster overpitches one and compatriot Sean Abbott gets down on one knee to wallop him through the covers to the short boundary and move to 5*. Ben Foakes has 76* at the other end.

Surrey are 20 runs short of a batting point, which did not seem remotely likely at 65-6 just after lunch.

    Tribe c Bairstow b White 11 (Glamorgan 20-2 v Yorks)

Both Glamorgan openers are back in the dressing room.

That's a good one from Jack White which finds just enough movement to take a thin edge and Asa Tribe is caught behind.

Not a lot he could have done about that.

50 for Matt Critchleypublished at 16:54 BST 3 April

    Hants v Essex 166-3

An elegant pull to a short one from Sonny Baker sails towards the fine leg boundary and brings up a 33rd first class half century for Lancastrian all-rounder Matt Critchley.

It has taken 90 balls and he is right on it again as a fired-up Baker sends another short one at him, pulling aggressively squarer to move to 57.

    Potts lbw b Dudgeon 1 (Durham 290-9 v Kent)

    Keith Dudgeon has 4-77.

He pins Matty Potts infront with one which keeps a touch low and up goes the finger.

Kent are one wicket away from a very good day at the office. Durham need 10 runs for a second batting point.

Kemar Roach is last man in, joining Kasey Aldridge, who is 26*.

  12. 300 up for Sussexpublished at 16:53 BST 3 April

    Leics v Sussex 300-6

There's the second batting point for Sussex as Tom Price tickles Rehan Ahmed down to long leg and the two Sussex batters have time to come back for three.

Price has 33 not out, with Fynn Hudson-Prentice content to play the 'sleeping' partner role - he has nine from 28 balls faced so far.

As a Glamorgan fan I just hope everyone does not put too much pressure on Asa Tribe, he’s a big talent but he’s got a long way to go

    Cian, Cardiff

That sounds incredibly sensible and level-headed, Cian, which is possibly why it might not happen.

    Byrom c Bean b Coad 5 (Glamorgan 20-1 v Yorks)

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

It’s a testing time for Glamorgan back in Division One after Jonny Bairstow won the toss and put the hosts in at a bleak Sophia Gardens.

Intermittent rain, combined with a chilly wind, meant that play did not begin in inhospitable conditions until 16:15 BST.

Asa Tribe and Eddie Byrom, a rare bespectacled pair of batters, formed a new opening partnership with Byrom, who hit his first ball back in the team for four but was then beaten several times by Ben Coad.

Tribe punched a couple of trademark mid-wicket boundaries away to get the scoreboard moving but Byrom has fallen to a superb slip catch to Finlay Bean off Coad to give debutant Sean Dickson an early entrance..

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:49 BST 3 April

    Lawes c Mousley b Gilchrist 83 (Warwicks v Surrey 220-7)

    Big.

Tom Lawes is tempted into a hook shot by a short one from Nathan Gilchrist and is caught spectacularly running and diving in the deep by Dan Mousley well inside the deep square rope.

The 115-run stand is broken and Lawes goes for a first-class best 83 from 121 balls.

He's changed the game, but will surely want that decision back and is thumping the ground in frustration on his way off.

Sean Abbott joins Ben Foakes, who is on 71*.

One quickly becomes two for Gloucestershire as Australian Gabe Bell picks up his first wicket for the club.

The Tasmanian bangs one in short to Ryan Higgins and Ollie Price takes a good, sharp catch at first slip.

    Raine c Benjamin b Dudgeon 19 (Durham 286-8 v Kent)

Just when Durham feel like they are getting on top, Kent find a way to take a wicket.

Ben Raine is tempted into a pull on the swivel off Keith Dudgeon and gets the faintest edge down the leg side through to keeper Chris Benjamin.

Kent celebrate like they know how important that was.

Three for Dudgeon, to go with three for Glenton Stuurman.

Matthew Potts is the new batter, joining Kasey Aldridge.

  18. Postpublished at 16:41 BST 3 April

    Som 225-4 v Notts

10 overs to go until Notts will probably take the new ball at the first opportunity.

Rob Lord bowls from the River End.

Lewis Goldsworthy and Tom Abell in no rush for runs vs the old ball or batting bonus points, just looking to bat time here and tire the inexperienced Notts attack, many of whom have had injury struggles in recent years.

Olly Stone did not bowl for Notts at all last year rememeber.

  19. Division Two updatepublished at 16:41 BST 3 April

Middlesex have lost another wicket at Lord's with Ben Geddes caught behind pushing forward to an arm ball from spinner Ollie Price. The home side are 194-4 in the 66th over against Gloucestershire.

Derbyshire have earned their first batting point against Worcestershire, reaching 252-4 after 67, with Martin Andersson now 71 not out, having added 72 so far with Luis Reece.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:41 BST 3 April

    Bohannon b Zaib 90 (Northants v Lancs 234-4)

Big breakthrough for the hosts and credit to Luke Procter for sticking with Saif Zaib either side of the tea break.

Zaib, the leading runs scorer in Div Two last season, will be looking forward to batting on this track but it is the ball that has him beaming after that.

Josh Bohannon had batted really well to get within 10 runs of a fifth century against Northants but his footwork deserted him here, dragging on trying to cut late.
